1999 Mazda Miata MX5 roadster. Although this car has never been abused it is not in perfect shape and is a project car. For several years it has been owned by a college age petite female and was her daily driver. The current mileage is approx. 219,000 miles. This is a fully loaded Miata with all of the bells and whistles. It has the 1.8 DOHC 16 valve 4 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission with overdrive and the Torsen limited slip differential. It is equipped with power assist 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering, rack and pinion steering, independent suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, coil springs, Bose brand AM/FM cassette and CD with tweeter speakers, center console, dual air bags with shut off switch, real glass back window with rear defroster, remote trunk and fuel door release, A/C, 3 spoke Nardi-Torino steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power antenna, etc, etc. The car still wears it's factory Emerald Mica paint. There is a dent in the driver door in front of the mirror, and a dent in the left quarter panel just in front of the tail light. There is rust in both rear wheel arches, and the front chin spoiler is scuffed and damaged. All of the glass is in excellent condition. The convertible top is rough and needs to be replaced. The tan leather interior is not perfect, but still very nice for the age of the car. The five spoke aluminum wheels are still very nice with centers and near new tires all the way around. Currently the engine has developed a high pitched knock and the source has not been determined. The car will start run and drive but has not been driven since the noise started and should be trailered to it's new home. When new, this Miata was a top of the line car, and with a little effort could once again be restored to that condition or would be a candidate for a V8 conversion, make a great race car, or an excellent parts car. Car comes with a good Missouri title, factory window sticker and service / maintenance records. I have tried to describe this little Miata to the best of my ability, but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect the car prior to the end of the auction again just ask and arrangements will be made. The reserve is set very reasonable for what this car is and the winning bidder will not be disappointed.

Mazda Furai concept designer talks about his car's passing
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Last week, there was mourning at the Autoblog offices as word trickled in that the Mazda Furai concept - one of the coolest, best-looking showcars to grace an auto show stage since the wild and crazy 1960s -had been killed. It was killed on the track with the folks from Top Gear in attendance. We're sure the gods of driving would have wanted it to die on a circuit, but that doesn't make its fiery passing any easier to deal with.
The Furai is the rare concept car that had a lasting appeal with enthusiasts, partly because it was a real, functioning racecar, complete with a wacky three-rotor Wankel engine and cutting-edge Nagare design. Now that it's gone, though, Road & Track's Mallory McMorrow, who was an intern at Mazda Design when the Furai was being styled in 2007, has published an interview with one of the men who penned the Mazda showcar's striking exterior, Carlos Salaff. It's a great piece on the emotional connection between a designer and his creation, and one you should take the time to read. Click on over to R&T for the full story.
2015 Mazda2 spotted on the road
Tue, 15 Apr 2014When Mazda unveiled the Hazumi Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, our excitement for the next Mazda2 increased considerably. The Hazumi looks to retain much of the driving character that makes the current 2 one of the very best cars in its segment while infusing it with more aggressive styling. Of course, when the 2 arrives, it won't look exactly like the Hazumi. That's why these spy photos are so important.
This is our very first look at the next-generation 2, and although the Hazumi influence might be difficult to discern, thanks to the swirly camo, it's still there. The grille shape and the headlights are very similar in shape to the items shown on the concept, while the camouflage disguises the shape of the greenhouse, which looks somewhat like the Hazumi.
What we can't see, though, is under the hood. That's where our spies come in, reporting that a pair of 1.5-liter SkyActiv engines will see action in the tossable 2. The former, which we'll almost certainly see in the US, is a gas-powered mill found in the Euro-spec Mazda3. In the larger 3, it produces 99 horsepower and 111 pound-feet of torque, which is broadly similar to what the current 2's 1.5-liter pumps out. The other engine, a 1.5-liter SkyActiv diesel, probably won't be making the trip, although we'll continue to hope.
From Maseratis to rental cars | Autoblog Podcast #511
Fri, Apr 7 2017On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are in a huddle room (again), because the studio was already taken (again). We talk about the all-wheel-drive Dodge Challenger GT (again), as well as the Jeep Wrangler, Maserati Levante, Miata RF (again), and then David waxes poetic on mediocre rental cars (or similar). The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, with some input from an S2000 owner on advice discussed last time. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too.
