Up for sale is a 1990 Mazda Miata MX5 5 Speed Manual Transmission. It's in overall good shape and it does run. The car is completely stock except for the intake but I am including the stock airbox with the sale of the car. The car has been sitting since before the summer of 2013. Need to get it out of the driveway so it's now for sale. When it was parked it ran and drove just fine. Upon starting it a few days ago, it has the normal loud lifter tick that is found in most miatas (do a search online). Is starts up just fine but I can't seem to get it to go into gear with the engine on. It may need a clutch pedal adjustment or clutch master or slave cylinder replacement but I'm not sure. Like I said it was shifting fine before it was parked but it sat for a while and with the cold weather things could be just frozen. This car has 131k miles on it and has a clear NY state title. The body is in decent shape with no big dents but it does have some paint flaws that I pictured. It has the usual rust on the rocker panels but not that bad as compared to others i've seen. I've had a 1994 miata that had more rust than this car does. The interior seats were replaced with newer grey leather seats. A chrome roll bar was also installed. There is no stereo installed. The rear plastic window has a few cracks and would need to be replaced but the top itself is in pretty good shape. The wheels are aftermarket. This is a good candidate for spec miata or build your own track car. Located in Long Island NY. Car is sold AS IS!!! I've tried to describe the car as best I can and if you have any questions, please ask away. Buyer is responsible for transport.
UPDATE: I just took a look at the slave cylinder and the rubber boot was full of fluid which means the slave cylinder is the reason for the shifter not going into gear. The good news is that the slave cylinder is $20-40 new at the local parts store (autozone). If the car does not sell then I'll fix it and the price goes up!

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
Next-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata mule spied 'Ring testing
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Fans of simple, lightweight motoring, rejoice - we now have images of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata undergoing testing at der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, to be fair, this isn't some lightly camouflaged example that will give us a great peak of what the next Miata, which will also become the next Alfa Romeo Spider, will look like. This is a mule, with the new bits hidden under a current Miata's body. That doesn't mean there aren't a few scraps of valuable information here, though.
According to our flock of camera-toting spies at the Nürburgring, the next Miata is likely to grow a bit, as new models are wont to do. In particular, it will be longer and wider, and the wheelbase is likely going to be stretched, based on the shape of the wheel wells and doors. Both of those factors will add more space in the cabin.
Those are the big indications provided by these photos, but while the MX-5 might be growing, it's a safe bet based on these images that it, and the (likely pricier) Alfa, will retain the classic, long-hood, short-deck styling that so typifies rear-drive roadsters.
Takashi Yamanouchi to retire as Mazda chairman
Mon, 12 May 2014Takashi Yamanouchi has been with Mazda for a long time. He signed on with the Japanese automaker in April 1967 - one month after graduating from Keio University - and rose through the ranks over the years. By 1996 he was named to the company's board of directors. In 2008 he was named president and CEO, an office he held until 2013, after which he handed over the day-to-day reins to Masamichi Kogai and took up the seat at the head of the board room to serve as the company's chairman. But now, after 47 years working for Mazda, Yamanouchi-san is retiring at the age of 69.
During his tenure as CEO and then as chairman, Yamanouchi was credited with growing Mazda's business despite unfavorable fluctuations in exchange rates, opening the company's first plant in Mexico, and spearheading the development of Mazda's Skyactiv technologies and Kodo design language.
In his place, current vice chairman Seita Kanai will take over as chairman. The changing of the guard will take place after the annual shareholders' meeting on June 24.
