I enjoyed logging 3,ooo miles since purchasing it and can honestly say it runs perfect! Everything electronic works and doesn't leak a drop of anything. I even have most of the service records from the original owner as well as the original window sticker and owners manual binder as well as my own personal receipts that go with the sale.

When I purchased the van it had a check engine light for a misfire code. Apparently, two of the six coil packs that fire the spark plugs were not doing their job and as a result, damaged two of the four catalytic converters which triggered the check engine code and prevented it from passing emissions inspection.
In addition to correcting the fore mentioned issues, I wanted to be able to completely trust the van for my own family so I went over the entire vehicle myself. I replaced everything that wasn't up to snuff with new TOP OF THE LINE parts from ROCKAUTO and the help of my local mechanic.

Here's the laundry list of parts that were either about to fail or failing that I replaced and have the receipts to prove it!

All work was done within the last 3k miles...
  • new battery $100
  • oil pan gasket $50
  • both front axles $130
  • K&N air filter $50
  • new Mazda gas cap $30
  • Bosch ICON wiper blades $50
  • K&N oil filter w synthetic oil $70
  • transmission fluid flush and fill $75
  • mass airflow sensor $100
  • all weather floor mats $210
  • water pump, belt & tensioner $120
  • coolant flush and fill $50
  • 6 platinum spark plugs $30
  • 6 new coil packs $350
  • new upper plenum gaskets $40
  • 4 new cooper tires w alignment $750
  • Raybestos front rotors and pads $150
  • exhaust manifold catalysts & secondary catalysts w flex pipe, gaskets and all four oxygen sensors $1,700
  • Viper long range remote start system w lock/unlock $300
RECEIPTS TOTAL=$4,355 NOT INCLUDING LABOR EVERYTHING IS DONE, GET IN AND GO!

The van runs and drives perfect with no issues at all and urge anyone who is looking for a low cost, very reliable and family friendly people mover to come by and see/drive this one for yourself. Cold A/C and hot heat with remote start for getting it warmed up and toasty for those cold mornings coming soon.

The van had an aftermarket VCR installed on the floor between the front seats that powered the monitor in the ceiling but was broken so I removed the VCR but left the monitor for the next owner to get going again with a more modern DVD player.

NO disappointments with this one!

Evo blasts around in a Spa 24H-winning Mazda RX-7

Mon, Jul 20 2015

Think of the Mazda RX-7 today, and your thoughts likely turn to the turbocharged third-generation version of the '90s that's an icon among the tuning and drifting communities. Many years before that swoopy coupe was hanging the tail out, the first model of RX-7 was also quite a track star, though. Evo's Richard Meaden has gotten ahold of a race-prepped version that counts a victory in the 1981 Spa 24 Hours to its name – the first Japanese car to claim that honor – for a fantastic video. With 225 horsepower and weighing around 1,984 pounds, this RX-7 doesn't look like a giant killer on paper. However as Meaden illustrates, the coupe puts those rotary-powered ponies to very good use. Driving it requires constantly keeping things on the boil because the muscle is essentially absent below 7,000 rpm. Once in the sweet spot, things start progressing quickly, though. As a wonderful cap to the wall of noise from the engine, little licks of flame also shoot out of the exhaust on downshifts. Thankfully, Evo's video team captures all of the mechanical noises quite well, and the clip is a treat for those with a good pair of headphones. Despite the race-winning pedigree, Meaden has no problem grabbing the little coupe by the scruff of the neck. He chucks it through the corners to get the tail loose, and the little wisps of smoke from the rear tires prove the original RX-7 knows how to drift too. These early cars definitely worth being remembered in the pantheon of Mazda performance.

Japan could consolidate to three automakers by 2020

Thu, Feb 11 2016

Sergio Marchionne might see his dream of big mergers in the auto industry become a reality, and an analyst thinks Japan is a likely place for consolidation to happen. Takaki Nakanishi from Jefferies Group LLC tells Bloomberg the country's car market could combine to just three or fewer major players by 2020, from seven today. "To have one or two carmakers in a country is not only natural, but also helpful to their competitiveness," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "Japan has just too many and the resources have been too spread out. It's a natural trend to consolidate and reduce some of the wasted resources." Nakanishi's argument echoes Marchionne's reasons to push for a merger between FCA and General Motors. Automakers spend billions on research and development, but their competitors also invest money to create the same solutions. Consolidating could conceivably put that R&D money into new avenues. "In today's global marketplace, it is increasingly difficult for automakers to compete in lower volume segments like sports cars, hydrogen fuel cells, or electrified vehicles on their own," Ed Kim, vice president of Industry Analysis at AutoPacific, told Autoblog. Even without mergers, these are the areas where Japanese automakers already have partners for development. Kim cited examples like Toyota and Subaru's work on the BRZ and FR-S and its collaboration with BMW on a forthcoming sports car. Honda and GM have also reportedly deepened their cooperation on green car tech. After Toyota's recent buyout of previous partner Daihatsu, Nakanishi agrees with rumors that the automotive giant could next pursue Suzuki. He sees them like a courting couple. "For Suzuki, it's like they're just starting to exchange diaries and have yet to hold hands. When Toyota's starts to hold 5 percent of Suzuki's shares, this will be like finally touching fingertips," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "I absolutely do believe that we are not finished seeing consolidation in Japan," Kim told Autoblog. Rising development costs to meet tougher emissions regulations make it hard for minor players in the market to remain competitive. "The smaller automakers like Suzuki, Mazda, and Mitsubishi are challenged to make it on their own in the global marketplace. Consolidation for them may be inevitable." Related Video:

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club and Launch Edition unveiled

Wed, Apr 1 2015

If you haven't been tempted enough already to place your order for a new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Japanese automaker is sweetening the deal even further at the New York Auto Show this week with the debut of two new editions. Most enticing is the arrival of the new Club edition (pictured above), which brings with it a number of upgrades to Mazda's latest roadster. The MX-5 Miata Club comes with 17-inch gunmetal alloys, a limited-slip differential, Bilstein shocks, tower brace and a new spoilers front and rear. That is, when equipped with the six-speed manual. (The automatic is still available as well, but does without the diff, shocks and brace.) Buyers will even be able to upgrade to BBS alloys of the same size, Brembo front brakes and the aero kit previewed by the MX-5 Global Cup racer in Chicago. The Mazda Connect infotainment system comes standard, with seven-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, nine-speaker Bose audio... the works. The Club edition isn't the only new Miata being launched in Manhattan this week, though: so is the Launch Edition. Offered to the first 1,000 customers who place their orders for a new Miata in the US, the MX-5 Launch Edition is based on the Grand Touring trim level and comes in an exclusive combination of Soul Red paint with a tan leather interior. It even comes with a few do-dads to go along with it. Mazda is taking deposits of $500 for those first 1,000 units at www.longlivetheroadster.com, and details of both these upgraded Miatas can be found in the press releases below. Lighter, smaller, quicker and more nimble than its predecessor, MX-5 has adopted Mazda's full suite of SKYACTIV Technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design. In the process, MX-5 has shed approximately 150 pounds from its predecessor, with a curb weight of 2,332 lbs. when equipped with SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission (2,381 lbs. with the six-speed automatic transmission).
