The La Grange, Illinois (Cook County) Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale by auction: White 1996 Mazda MPV DX Standard Passenger Van 3-Door 3.0L with a mileage of 168,346 miles This is a seized/forfeited vehicle and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-style setting such as eBay. There is no Buy-It-Now option. We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO warranty, neither express nor implied. The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied. here is NO reserve on this vehicle! The vehicle (again) has 168,346 miles. The vehicle is white with a gray cloth interior in fair to good condition. The interior of the vehicle, however, will need to be cleaned. The vehicle has front, middle, and back-row seating. The vehicle has a roof rack. All lights, lamps, signals, fan, horn, power door locks, front & rear wipers are in working order. The vehicle has power windows; the driver's side power windows operate, however, the front passenger side power window does not work (possibly the motor). The vehicle has cruise control-unknown if working-we did not try it. The vehicle has an AM/FM stereo with cassette player-unknown if working-we did not try it. All interior lighting appears to be working. The power mirrors are in working order. Lastly, the vehicle has a Class 3 hitch. The vehicle has extensive crash damage to the passenger-side extending from the front to the back doors. The opening was "sealed up" with tape by the last owner. The vehicle, however, drove fine when it was placed in storage in July 2013. We have not run the vehicle since. There is crash damage to the driver's-side (D/S) front wheel well, quarter, and below the headlight. The front bumper has small cracks and paint chipping. The passenger-side (P/S) front quarter has some damage below the headlight. There is some damage to the P/S front wheel well. The P/S front tire is missing the center hub cap. The rear bumper has some paint chipping. There is a small dent in the rear hatchback door-upper door, which does not affect it's operation. Lastly, the two rear tires have slow leaks. Mazda Miata 25th anniversary display is roadster heaven on Earth
Thu, 17 Apr 2014As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the MX-5 Miata, Mazda has put together a rather large display at its New York Auto Show booth, showing off significant models from the diminutive roadsters history.
The display represents a healthy split of volume models, with cars 14, 15 and 17 sitting alongside cars 500,000 and 700,000. There are also more than a few concept cars in the offering, such as the Super20 Concept we drove a few years back, as well as older offerings, like the Club Racer concept from the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the M-Speedster from the 1995 Chicago show and the M Coupe from the 1996 New York Auto Show.

Mazda's Hofu plant builds its ten-millionth car
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ten million is a lot no matter which way you cut it, and no matter what you're talking about: Ten million dollars, ten million miles, ten million people... certainly ten million cars. And that's the milestone that Mazda's Hofu plant in Yamaguchi prefecture of Japan has just achieved.
The Hofu facility has been in operation since 1982, and was supplemented with a second plant on the same site ten years later. Hofu reached a million units built in 1986 and five million in 2002. But with production now at 482,100 units per year, it took less than twelve years to double that previous milestone.
The magic ten-millionth car was a new Mazda6 (known locally as the Atenza), which is built at Hofu Plant No. 2, while Hofu Plant No. 1 gears up for the new Mazda3 (aka Axela). Scroll down below for a related press release.

Wed, 26 Jun 2013Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, straight from the memory cards of our own cameras. As you can see, the only version of the 2014 Mazda3 that the automaker is showing off at the moment is the hatchback, but we've gotten confirmation from Mazda that the sedan version will be shown sometime within the next five weeks.
So far, Mazda isn't commenting on whether or not we can expect a higher-performance Mazdaspeed3 version of the car, but we've got our fingers crossed. In any case, we're quite drawn to the appearance of this new hatchback from Mazda, with its flowing lines and character creases setting it apart from the rest of the compact segment in which it competes.
We also appreciate the sound engineering that went into the new 3. Despite boasting a wheelbase that's longer than the car it replaces, we're pleased to see that Mazda has kept its exterior size in check - it's actually shorter overall than the last-gen model - while also reducing weight by about 200 pounds. That's bound to be good for the new 3's dynamic properties.
