1988 Mazda B2200 Custom Truck.  I have owned this truck for 11 years.  It was bone stock when I bought it.  I have completed all of the modifications myself.  I have built several Mazda trucks over the years.  This truck is traditionally bodydropped, with no step in the cab- smoothed floor, and a raised stock bed floor.  It has four wheel independent controlled firestone airbags.  It features Custom tubular Upper and lower front control arms, eliminating the front strut rod/radius rods.  The rear suspension has been frame clipped with an independent rear suspension from an 88' RX7 Turbo II car.  The front hubs have been redrilled professionally to 5x4.5 inch/114.3mm to match the rear RX7 rear suspension.  The rear end is the bigger axles and 3rd member from the rx7, a posi 4.10 unit. The rear shocks are cantilever style mounted under the bed floor.  The front has newer shocks relocated behind the control arms.  The truck has a brand new custom driveshaft connecting the stock B2200  5 speed transmission to the RX7 rear end.  The front of the cab has been tubbed with trailer fenders, stock inner fenders removed.  A brand new core support was weleded in during the body drop.  The truck has been body dropped 3.5 inches, with shaved cab pinch welds.  The truck lays flat on Mazda RX8 18x8 inch Shinka wheels, 215/35/18 inch Toyo tires.  The frame has been plated on the bottom with 1/4" plate so the frame will drag before the body.  I do not drag this truck.  It has a custom fuel cell under the bed floor with a custom fuel filler beck utilizing the stock fuel filler door.  The fuel cell is aluminum.  It sits in a cage in the rear frame and has a drag bar under the back of the frame to protect it from getting hit by road debris and the drag bar also protects to roll pan from being ripped off.

This truck has no rust whatsoever.  The floors are solid as well as the bed floor.  The paint is in good shape.  It is stock Mazda truck Red.  The front of the truck has been repainted to match, but doesn't match perfectly.  It has a B2600i stock bubble hood.  The front bumper is a brand new Mazda bumper, not a cheap ebay foreign unit. The cab of the truck is a different shade from the rest of the body panels.  Overall it looks good and is straight but a coat of paint would make this a show winner for sure!

This truck has a newly rebuilt stock 2.2 liter engine, about 30,000 miles on it since the rebuild.  The rebuild included new piston rings, rod and crankshaft bearings, Mazda cylinder head gasket, and cleaned and reworked cylinder head.  A new exedy clutch was put in at the rebuild.  The truck has been painstakingly converted to factory Mazda EFI California emissions fuel injection.  It features a custom TIG welded aluminum intake manifold.  The truck runs great!  It has a high heat powder coated Pacesetter header.  It has a brand new aluminum radiator and electric fan.  The truck doesn't leak a drop of anything.  It never uses oil.  Runs terrifically.  It has a custom powdercoated Rare Magnum Mazda valve cover colored Red to match the truck.  It has a brand new Optima Red top battery.  No A/C, No Power steering.  It does have good heat. The truck recently got MAZDA OEM upper and lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, Mazda belts, thermostat, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and OEM NGK wires.

The stock Mazda A/C compressor Sanden unit has been converted into an engine driven air compressor for the air ride system.  The truck has eight Parker valves 3/8 inch for independent control.  It also has four manual valves for slow inflation deflation.  The custom Aluminum TIG welded center console houses the four switches for the eight electric valves and the four manual switches as well as three gauges for front and rear air pressures and the center gauge is air tank pressure.  The truck has two chrome 3 gallon tanks mounted under the bed floor.

The interior of the truck is very clean and nice.  It has new aftermarket carpet which fits extremely well, you can barely tell it's bodydropped.  It has nice Miata black cloth bucket seats.  It has LE-5 style rear interior featuring rear cab wall carpet and plastic side cab panels.  The Alpine CD player is mounted in the center of the dash under the air vents.  Stock Mazda door panels in good condition.  It has four Boston 4 inch speakers mounted in the stock locations.  Alpine has front USB and aux. inputs.  The truck also has Brand New Mazda OEM Window run channels, outer and inner window felt strips on doors.  Windows roll up and down very nicely.

This is a show truck, I would not recommend this truck as a daily driver.  It is a good driver, and I would not hesitate to jump in this truck and drive across the country.  However it is more of a show and play vehicle.  Due to the suspension mods and rear IRS, it will go through tires.  It drivers great and has been aligned, but it goes through tires about every 10-15k miles.  It's just the nature of the truck.  It has newer brakes on it.  Also it has no catalytic converter, and straight pipe with a glass pack exhaust.  It's louder than stock but not bad.  Not much room under this truck.  The exhaust does not drag and sits nicely under the truck while it's layed out.  The front of the truck must be raised to turn, which makes it not a good candidate for a daily driver.

If you are looking for a great well built lowrider Mazda, this is the truck.  I've owned this truck for 11 years.  It's been a lot of fun.  It's time for other projects for me now.  I'd like to see it go to a good home.  Please call Jim @ 636-577-4447 for questions.  No texts please.  The mileage on the truck is not accurate, but it really makes no difference as everything has been rebuilt. It's a clear title in my name. I am a serious motivated seller but I won't give this truck away. Consider this: you CANNOT buy a stock form of the truck with zero rust and a good running engine for less than 2500 dollars, kudos to you if you can. Furthermore, you cannot modify this truck to this extend for 4000 dollars. At 6500 dollars, I think it's a fair price for this custom vehicle.

Here's what you had to say about the Tokyo Motor Show

Fri, Oct 27 2017

We obsessively covered the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. You, our readers, provided the color commentary. Read on and, of course, leave your comments below. Subaru Viziv Performance Concept: Remember the WRX concept they showed in 2013, and what the production version looked like in 2015? Pepperidge Farm remembers. wooootles 2 foot high wing on the trunk or gtfo :) sc0rch3d Mazda Kai Concept : Dear Honda, this is how you dynamically style a hatchback. Thank you. Dfelix70 Kudos to KODO design. There are so many things I love about this "Kai" car: the awesome split panoramic sunroof, the Jaguar-esque tails (sporting an "eyebrow up"... ala The Rock), a sleek family resemblance to the already beautiful CX-5 and CX-9. Seems suspiciously close to being a production ready Mazda3 — save for a few fanciful bits (door handles, mirrors etc). If it doesn't get too watered down by the time it hits the streets ... take my money! Randy Ross Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept: As an 06 IX and 12 X owner, this is so upsetting. I will never buy this or care to give it another look. Hope you are glad you killed my favorite track-ready car to produce this electric junk. AcidTonic Picture the GT-R going away for a few years and coming back as an SUV. This is ridiculous. Surely someone in marketing could've came up with another cool name. Evo The Evo sedan is dead, whether this exists or not. I don't mind. Lada1200 Honda Sports EV Concept : I sure would like to see this "less is more" design aesthetic spread to their gas-powered production line. RustyShackleford Love it. I see glimpses of late 1970 Scirocco with Honda flair. Gintonics I just want ONE question answered in the affirmative, and that is... "RWD?" Henadenk AND A FEW FROM FACEBOOK: Toyota's press conference: Wake me up when they talk about the Supra. David Levinson Yamaha Cross Hub Concept: All I can think is modern day Brat, which has its own kind of charm. I'm assuming that it's a unibody design, but it seems happy to be its own thing rather than that crossover pretending to be a pickup called the Ridgeline. Would definitely take the Yamaha over the Honda, although I doubt it'll come to the states. Cole Henry Mazda Vision Coupe Concept: Face: KIA K7, Tail: Aston martin. Harold Shin A bit British, no? Mazda RX-3 restomod makes Leno scream, us cheer

Tue, Aug 25 2015

The Mazda RX-3 Savanna was the rotary-engined version of the Mazda 808 Grand Familia. Sold in the US from 1971 to 1978, the little Japanese fastback earned a reputation as an excellent racecar, winning events all over the world. A racing connection is how a fantastic 1973 restomod example owned by Savant Young made its way to Jay Leno's Garage. Young said that when he was a boy his uncle used to street race an RX-3, and Young liked how the RX-3 sounded and the fact that a tiny import could go up against and beat big V8s of the time. Leno admitted that he has no connection to the RX-3, saying it's not the kind of car he typically likes. But he liked Young's custom update so much that when he saw the coupe sitting outside the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, he waited for the owner to show up. Young's changes over the 15 years he's owned the car include dropping in the rotary engine and running gear from the second-generation Mazda RX-7, bridge-ported and methane injected. At 15 pounds of boost he says it's putting out about 400 horsepower. The rear end comes from a Toyota Hilux half-ton pickup, to help put all that power down in a car that weighs maybe 2,100 pounds. The color is taken from the Lamborghini palette. Disc brakes all around, 14-inchers up front, control the velocity. Nothing controls the gas mileage, said to be "maybe 12 mpg." And nothing could stop Leno from whooping it up during the driver. Check out the fun in the video above.

Mazda rumored to bring rotary-powered RX-9 concept to Tokyo

Fri, Oct 16 2015

Stop us if you've heard this one before: Mazda will bring a rotary-powered sports car to the next big auto show. Okay, so we stopped for a second, but the show must go on. Following an official teaser image (shown above) late last month, Motoring.com.au has what it claims are renderings of the curvy, two-door coupe – called the RX-9 – that Mazda will bring to the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. The images show a far softer styling than Mazda's current crop of Kodo-inspired vehicles, while the overall look screams of a modern-day Cosmo Sport, the Japanese brand's first rotary-powered vehicle. And though that connection alone might be enough to justify whisperings of a successor to the RX-7 and RX-8, Motoring claims there will be an even more overt sign of this concept's power source. "Look to the Cosmo Sport," an inside source told the Aussie website, signaling that the Mazda stand would feature the vintage two-door. "The Cosmo has no earthly reason for being there unless..." The rotary rumor, if it comes true, won't exactly be what we're use to. While Motoring brings up the previously reported 16X – a 1.6-liter two-rotor – it builds on our 2013 report. According to the Aussies, the new engine could feature a two-stage electric turbocharger, be paired with a hybrid powertrain, offer up to 450 horsepower, and we're guessing, be hilariously complicated. Joking aside, it sounds like Mazda's goals here are admirable. A rotary-equipped sports car that could counter the 1.3-liter RX-8 engine's appetite for fuel and improve on its mediocre low and mid-range torque would be interesting indeed. As for those renderings, Motoring has front and rear three-quarter images. Comparing the rear with our original teaser leaves the look open to interpretation, but after seriously upping the exposure on the teaser (thanks Photoshop), the taillights and overall profile shape look to be a spot-on match. In front, the long hood shares some Kodo elements, like the headlights and grille, but its undeniable coupe shape – a long hood and very short deck – are far more organic and, dare we say, calm, than Mazda's other vehicles. You can take a closer look at the renderings over at Motoring's website. Do that, and then head back and let us know what you think of these RX-9 rumors. Is Mazda finally going to be bringing a rotary back to market?
