2000 Mazda 626 Es Low Miles (47k) Gold/tan With Leather; Sun Roof on 2040-cars
Hicksville, New York, United States
2000 Mazda 626(ES) low miles (47k) Gold/Tan with Leather; Sun Roof 4-Cyl, 2.0 Liter Automatic Power steering, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt wheel, dual airbags Priced for quick sale - car is somewhere between Fair and Good condition per Kelley Blue Book which values it over $5K History: Originally owned by senior citizen and sat unused for long stretches. I’ve owned for 8 years and used as station car. Taken good care of it mechanically (ie regular oil changes + replaced alternator 2013; fuel pump March 2014, exhaust May 2014). Starts, runs, shifts very well, smooth and reliable. One significant accident – rear-ended someone. No airbag deploy but replaced front bumper and hood. Did not affect the ride at all, still drives and handles very well. Known Issues: A/C has slow coolant leak, supposedly in the air handler, and is not currently working. Past few years I recharged at end of every spring and usually lasted through most of the summer. Got a quote for permanent fix for $700-$800 but don’t want to spend. Only has one key (2 fobs) – replacement key will need a microchip; Well used inside and out: Driver (electric) seat with slight wear to leather; Driver door panel leather trim is off (piece intact & included); Tires: 2 new; 2 good shape; alloy rims scuffed; Front bumper scuffed, cut, paint peeling; body has a number of dents, dings and scratches. Video on youtube shows close-ups of dents and dings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMM-Bw9r7nk If link doesn't work then search youtube for post from ablathome. |

Mazda MX-5 GT gets green light
Fri, 18 Oct 2013The Mazda MX-5 Miata is as popular around the Autoblog offices as Kate Upton posters are around fraternity houses. Few staffers have much criticism for Mazda's ubiquitous roadster, and fewer still aren't overjoyed when one arrives in their driveway. So you can imagine how a report from Auto Express about a more potent MX-5 model is going over in our offices today.
The new model, which was shown in concept form as the Mazda MX-5 GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, has a slight catch, though. First, we have absolutely no idea if Mazda will bring the MX-5 GT to the US. Secondly, and perhaps more problematically, this isn't a production car - it's a kit from the team at Jota Sport.
Now, to be fair, the kit doesn't sound like a bad thing. It bumps the UK-spec 2.0-liter, 157-horsepower engine up to 203 hp thanks to a sports exhaust and a revamped ECU (46 horsepower from an ECU and exhaust in a naturally aspirated car?). To make the little Miata even more agile, Jota has also fiddled with the suspension. AE doesn't mention things like the grippy tires or Recaro seats that were found on the concept, though.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will rock 2.0L SkyActiv engine in US, 1.5L elsewhere
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Let the speculation finally end - we know what will power the next-generation 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and it's not turbocharged. The US model will get a SkyActiv 2.0-liter engine and six-speed manual, while models in the rest of the world have a 1.5-liter engine, confirming earlier rumors.
Unfortunately, Mazda isn't letting loose how much power either of these mills make just yet. For sake of comparison, the current SkyActiv 2.0 in the Mazda3 produces 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, and the 1.5-liter in the UK (and elsewhere) has about 99 hp and 110 lb-ft of twist. However, the current Miata produces 167 hp and 140 lb-ft.
But fret not droptop fans. The company's brochure from the 2014 Paris Motor Show confirms, "all available drivetrains have been specially tuned for the all-new MX-5," which at least hints at the possibility of more performance. Also, even if the numbers remain untouched, the new Miata should feel even more sporting on the open road. That's because Mazda says the new model weighs in the neighborhood of 2,200 pounds; with that in mind, the 2016 car would boast around 14.19 pounds per horsepower versus 14.85 lb/hp in the present MX-5. Progress!
Mazda recalls 109k Tribute models for rust issue
Fri, 18 Apr 2014The Mazda Tribute is being hit with a similar recall as its platform-mate the Ford Escape underwent a few weeks ago. Mazda is recalling 109,000 Tributes from model years 2001 to 2004. On the trucks, the subframe can rust from road salt, potentially causing the lower control arm to detach. If this happens, a loss of steering control could occur.
Mazda is adding a reinforcement crossbrace for added strength on the affected models. The recall covers Tributes currently registered in or originally sold in 20 northern states and Washington, DC, where road salt is used.
The reinforcement braces aren't available yet to do the repair. Mazda will send a letter in May to owners of affected vehicles that will inform them of the problem, and a second letter telling them when the parts will be ready. Scroll down to read the full recall press release.
