We are looking for 2 more buyers, to complete a series of three cars to be delivered then. We will use the same payment system for the three cars: $2500 deposit, and the rest is divided into three monthly payments. That way you pay as you see the progress on your car.

This is the info on the original auction:

Hello, this auction is for a handmade vintage racer body and chassis only. Please read the full description and  photos, feel free to ask any questions. The following is a 16mm film shot in may 2014 of the car at the Autodromo de Tocancipa in Bogota, Colombia.

This car is the best option for running some of the vintage races with the best ratio of fun to cost.  I only sell what I make, that way you decide how much you want to spend on the engine, transmission, and other options. Delivery time is four months.

The car will be custom built and fit for you, with several options available. Two place, or mono posto, that is also your choice.

The car will be hand built by myself, and my assistants in our small shop in Bogota, Colombia. I not a parts salesman, I am a car builder, so I will not sell any of the parts required to complete the car, but I will guide you to the right vendors. I will also build a parts list with you. I want to make clear that although I won’t be making any money off these parts, since you will be buying them directly, I will work with you throughout the process. If you want me to assemble the car, I can do it here or in the USA for you at an additional cost.

The car in the photographs is my first prototype, the car you will be purchasing will be built using our new buck, with a similar shape but better details. The new buck is slightly more similar to the Porsche 550, but is still different enough not to be a replica. Please see attached photos. This is a Porsche inspired car, not a replica.

About the body:

The handmade body will be shaped out of 1.5mm aluminum, shaped using an English wheel and gas (oxy/acetylene) welded.  The new car has a bonnet and opening rear. The aluminum seats are included, upholstered in leather on the color of your choice

About the chassis:

The chassis is TIG welded mild steel, in a shape similar to the Porsche RSK, but using a rear suspension derived from the Formula Vee racers. This suspension has proven itself during decades of racing and is lighter and stronger than the original Porsche/VW. The chassis includes your choice of integral roll bar or none.

What is included:

The alloy body, painted or polished. with all necessary parts to be attached to the chassis. The chassis, with all brackets and supports. The seats for the car. The stainless steel fuel tank is also included in the price.

What is not included: Rear shock, engine, transmission, wheels, steering wheel, pedals, front suspension, brakes, steering box, and instruments. Everything else needed to complete the car.

About the engine options:

With the right vintage engine and gearbox this car can race most of the vintage race events around the world. Yes, it is not a four million dollar Porsche 550, but you will have just as much fun driving it as the Porsche. Porsche 912 or VW engines and gearboxes can be installed. You choose how much you want to spend. My opinion is that a 2000cc VW engine is the best option.

About delivery:

I will deliver the car to you. That means I will take care of the transportation and import to the USA. But It will be imported as parts. I am not a lawyer, so I will not register the car for you, or assume any liability on its use as a vehicle.

The car has been proven at local events. You will have as much fun driving it as I have building them. Please contact me for any additional info.

Incredible French barn finds could fetch over $18M [w/video]

Sat, Dec 6 2014

We all dream about taking a drive and discovering the mythical barn find of a vintage Shelby Cobra or Porsche Speedster hidden way under a sheet, totally forgotten. An upcoming auction from Artcurial in France on February 6 proves that these treasure troves still really do exist, and this might be one of the ultimate barn finds ever. Decaying away on a French estate, there was a collection of about 100 dirt-covered cars that had been undisturbed for decades, according to The Telegraph. They included all of the great European marques, like Bugatti, Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari and many more. Most of the vehicles were underneath a shed but generally exposed to the elements; however, two very special sports cars were hidden away in a garage (pictured above). In there was a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider with covered headlights. It was one of just 37 made and thought to be lost. Beside the Ferrari was a 1956 Maserati A6G Gran Sport Frua. The collection belonged to Roger Baillon, a French transport magnate, according to Artcurial. He amassed this wonderful collection, but when his business fell on hard times in the '70s, Baillon sold part of the group off. These were the ones he kept, but they eventually went forgotten. Artcurial thinks that only 60 of the cars are actually in salable condition, and they cross the block during the Retromobile Salon in February. The auctioneers believe the Ferrari could sell for as much as 12 million euros (14.74 million) and the Maserati for 1.2 million euros ($1.5 million). Check out the gallery to glimpse the breadth of classics in this collection. Be sure to scroll down for a must-watch, gut-wrenching, patina-laden video showing off the collection and for Artcurial's press release about the sale. This content is hosted by a third party. Stirling Moss-crashed 1956 Maserati 450S to be auctioned in Monaco

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

RM Auctions has some very special and expensive Italian sportscars of the 50s and 60s consigned for its auction in Monaco on May 10, but the one that currently carries the highest estimated value at between 4 and 5.5 million euros ($5.5 - $7.5 million) is a 1956 Maserati 450S with some very interesting provenance.
The Maserati started its life as a six-cylinder 350S that Stirling Moss drove in the 1956 Mille Miglia race. Unfortunately, the brakes failed, and it crashed into a tree and nearly into a ravine. Moss and his co-driver weren't injured, but the car was kaputt.
Maserati repaired it and used the chassis as a test mule for its new 5.7-liter V8 racecar called the 450S. It featured an extended wheelbase to fit the larger engine and a new body with a single seat. The racer hit the track again at the hands of Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1957 Buenos Aires 1000 KM but retired with transmission issues. Later that season, it crashed again at the 1957 Mille Miglia at the hands of driver Jean Behra. After that, the car sat around the workshop until it was sold without an engine in 1965.

Maserati confirms limited edition Quattroporte Zegna for production

Thu, Jul 17 2014

Last year two of the biggest names in Italian style – one from the automotive industry and one from fashion – announced a partnership. Together Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna revealed a "concept" version of the Quattroporte at the Frankfurt Motor Show, only given how production-ready the show car already looked, nobody really believed it would remain just a concept. And now, having revealed the final version in Geneva, Maserati has confirmed it for production. Limited production, that is, because Maserati will only build 100 examples of the Quattroporte Zegna edition for consumption around the world. That's about one-thirtieth of the number of cars Maserati produces each month at this point, and while the Modenese automaker doesn't break down its sales figures by model, the QP accounts for a large proportion of those numbers. Maserati also hasn't said just how much it will charge for the Zegna edition, but you can bet it'll be a handsome premium – more than some of those designer-edition hatchbacks get at any rate – yet it'll undoubtedly offload the entire run in short order. "ONE OF 100" THE MASERATI QUATTROPORTE ZEGNA LIMITED EDITION Wednesday, July 16, 2014 – After making its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Maserati has revealed an exclusive limited edition Maserati Quattroporte in collaboration with luxury Italian fashion house, Ermenegildo Zegna. Just 100 examples of the limited series will be built which feature colour schemes, materials and exclusive trims which link the histories of the two brands. To celebrate the launch of the Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition, Maserati and Zegna are embarking on a tour of four international events starting in Shanghai in July 2014 before stopping in New York (Sept 2014), Dubai (Feb 2015) and Milan (Spring 2015). The events are designed to present the Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition to an exclusive audience and to celebrate the partnership between the two Italian brands; both of whom are masters in Italian excellence. The exclusive event locations have been carefully selected to enhance the uniqueness of the alliance and represent the pinnacle of Italian elegance. Guests will be able to discover the car's premium finishes in detail and see the extraordinary result of the partnership. World famous Italian photographer, Fabrizio Ferri, will be in attendance at each of the four events capturing 100 unique images – 25 from each occasion.
