ONE OF 65 to find a home state side Classic Cars.

A magnificent car for the discerning, sporting and powerful auto thirsty buyer. A most sleek Italian beauty with the commanding 4.2 litre V8 engine providing 390 HP and a peak torque of 332 ft/lb’s. All of that while luxuriating in soft leather seating and appointments for a true 4 seater. While listening to the stereo, your feet will rest comfortably in the custom carpeting. It is equipped with a 5.8 inch color display at the center of the dash. This unit controls the sound system with single CD player, the on board computer, and the climate control system. Passengers have plenty of room to enjoy the ride; I know that I did, as a driver and a passenger. The Coup? commonly referred to as the 4200 GT was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign, interiors design was commissioned to Enrico Fumia and built at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena, Italy. The interior has a most unique option – a leather headliner featuring a grosgrain pattern in matching tan to compliment the seating and door panels.
The manual transmission is a six-speed, with a foot operated clutch. The transmission gearbox is located at the rear of the vehicle giving the Coup? a 48/52% weight distribution between the front and rear axles. When you want to put your foot into it and let her perform, it includes the optional computer-controlled suspension damping system called "Skyhook" This adaptive damping system uses coil-over shock absorbers and a set of six accelerometers that continually monitor the movement of the wheels and car body and transmits this information to a control unit. This vehicle's computer analyzes this data and coordinates it with the Cambiocorsa transmission and other Maserati safety systems. Skyhook then calculates, and recalculates the data at least 40 times per second and instantaneously adjusts each shock absorber accordingly. When placed in the Sport mode, the suspension firms up for better cornering.
Safety, yes all of it. The vehicle is equipped with front and side driver and passenger airbags as well as seat belt pre-tensioners.
The wheels have a high-performance Brembo braking system with light alloy four-piston calipers and cross-drilled large ventilating discs.
The rear suspension is fitted with a toe-in regulator bar which enhances the precision of the drive train and provides balanced cornering. The front suspension layout incorporates “anti-dive” features to prevent nose-diving when braking. The suspension system is completed by front and rear anti-roll bars.

As for rarity: In 2002, fewer than 1900 GTs were produced -- of which approximately 10% were manual transmission, worldwide. Only a third of those GT’s were imported into the US, meaning that probably no more than 65 examples of the 2002 GT with manual transmission are here in the USA.

Driving stability is provided by Maserati Stability Program (MSP) and controls the engine and brakes to help the driver control the vehicle in extreme driving situations. The MSP system integrates four different vehicle systems - the anti-slip regulation traction control (ASR), the motor spin regulation (MSR), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and anti-lock braking system (ABS)

2014 Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a symphony of classic racers

Mon, Aug 18 2014

With about 550 classic racecars lapping Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca over the course of the weekend, the Monterey Motorsports Reunion might be one of the largest vintage racing events in the country, maybe even the world. It was certainly one of the highlights of the lavish Monterey festivities last weekend. This year's featured marque was Maserati, which was celebrating its 100th anniversary, and plenty of trident logos could be found on track, ranging from the 250F grand prix car to some of the company's later sports cars. Of course, with 15 groups of classic racers, there was basically something for any motorsports fan. Among the highlights were the Trans-Am race that brought together rumbling hunks of American muscle to jostle for position on track. There was also a fantastic class from the '50s and '60s with Ferraris, Corvettes and even a Volvo P1800 and Toyota S800 racing together. Watching these iconic racers back on track at full pace was just a revelation to see, smell and hear. There were too many fantastic cars to list them all, but feel free to check out Autoblog's huge gallery from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to see if you spot your favorite racecars of yesteryear. From Maseratis to rental cars | Autoblog Podcast #511

Fri, Apr 7 2017

On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are in a huddle room (again), because the studio was already taken (again). We talk about the all-wheel-drive Dodge Challenger GT (again), as well as the Jeep Wrangler, Maserati Levante, Miata RF (again), and then David waxes poetic on mediocre rental cars (or similar). The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, with some input from an S2000 owner on advice discussed last time. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. Ten of the greatest Super Bowl car commercials of all time

Thu, Jan 28 2016

With an average of over 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl always has advertisers bringing out the big guns. And for those among us who don't know the difference between a safety and a touchback, those commercials can be one of the most compelling aspects of the annual ritual. Car companies, in particular, have a long history of making the most of the huge Super Bowl audience by debuting some of the most memorable advertisements that have ever aired on television. So, in preparation for the new batch we'll be seeing this coming Sunday, here's a collection of our favorites from the past. 10. Audi – The Godfather When Audi created this homage to the quintessential gangster movie to promote its newest sports car, the company managed to make a commercial that was simultaneously funny, a little bit disturbing, and most importantly memorable. 9. Maserati – Strike This one might start out slow, but it delivers not only with the wicked sound of the third-generation Ghibli's engine, but with an interesting message about hubris in the auto industry as well. 8. Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo – Dream Directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien), this dystopian spot has centers around a narrator who explains that in his dream the bad guys are unable to catch him despite their best efforts by way of street bikes, race cars, and supersonic jets. While the twin-turbocharged 300ZX car was certainly a performance powerhouse to be reckoned with in its day, the concept and execution of this one does come off a little bit campy now – but in a good way. Then again, it is a dream, after all. 7. General Motors – Robot This one is unique in that it's genuinely depressing on a profound level. Who would've thought that the simulated suicide of a lovable, anthropomorphic car-building robot who has fallen on hard times could be such a downer? 6. Nissan – With Dad Although the debut season of its new LMP1 racer didn't exactly turn out how the team hoped it would, there's no denying that Nissan's depiction of a strained father-and-son relationship that eventually leads to redemption (and the introduction of the 2016 Maxima) tugs at the heartstrings. 5. Volkswagen – Big Day A surprisingly poignant advert, this one might be low on dialogue but it certainly gets its message across. And just as the dramatic soundtrack begins to lull the viewer into a sense of security, our expectations are upended. 4.
