This 1977 Alfa Romeo Spyder convertable has been my daily driver for the past year. The original engine was replaced with the engine from a 1996 Toyota pick-up. It is the 2400 series at the time of replacement the truck had 64000 miles. The Toyota 5-speed manual transmission is also installed. The engine uses no oil and is free of vibrations or any other indication that something is not correct. It is fitted with a new weber carb and mallory ignition. Starts great, runs great, and is dependable as any toyota could be. It has good performance, but was not built to be a hot rod. It was built for dependability and gas mileage as it gets about 35 mpg. No rust on the body very straight with only some door dings. Carpet and door panels have been replaced and in great condition. A very tight fitting new top really sets off the appearance. You can get into this vehicle and drive it anywhere with no concerns of its dependability, and it is very comfortable with these seats as pictured. I just purchased a MR2 Spyder and I don't need them both. You may bid with confidence

Maserati returns to Indianapolis to commemorate historic win
Tue, 27 May 2014This past weekend was Memorial Day weekend, folks, and you know what that means: racing. There was the Monaco Grand Prix for Formula One fans, and back Stateside there was the Indianapolis 500. You might expect to see a name like Maserati pop up at the former more than the latter, but that wasn't always the case.
These days its all about Dallara chassis powered by Chevy or Honda, but over the course of a century there have been plenty of foreign automakers that have won the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. McLaren won it twice in the 1970s, Mercedes and Peugoet won during the race's pre-WWI infancy, and in between them Boyle Racing won it two years in a row with a Maserati chassis and engine.
The car was the Maserati 8CTF "Boyle Special," and its first win came 75 years ago. So to mark the occasion (as well as Maserati's 100th anniversary), the car was brought back to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a revival lap. Unfortunately Wilbur Shaw, who won the Indy 500 three times (twice in the Maserati) and went on to be president of the speedway, died in a plane crash the day before his 52nd birthday in 1954. So in his place fellow three-time winner Johnny Rutherford took the wheel of the 8CTF in front of the gathered crowds.
2014 Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a symphony of classic racers
Mon, Aug 18 2014With about 550 classic racecars lapping Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca over the course of the weekend, the Monterey Motorsports Reunion might be one of the largest vintage racing events in the country, maybe even the world. It was certainly one of the highlights of the lavish Monterey festivities last weekend. This year's featured marque was Maserati, which was celebrating its 100th anniversary, and plenty of trident logos could be found on track, ranging from the 250F grand prix car to some of the company's later sports cars. Of course, with 15 groups of classic racers, there was basically something for any motorsports fan. Among the highlights were the Trans-Am race that brought together rumbling hunks of American muscle to jostle for position on track. There was also a fantastic class from the '50s and '60s with Ferraris, Corvettes and even a Volvo P1800 and Toyota S800 racing together. Watching these iconic racers back on track at full pace was just a revelation to see, smell and hear. There were too many fantastic cars to list them all, but feel free to check out Autoblog's huge gallery from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to see if you spot your favorite racecars of yesteryear. This Decepticon-themed Maserati ticketed for imitating a police car
Tue, 19 Aug 2014States have different laws about how closely your car can mimic the look of a police car, which this Massachusetts driver might've wanted to have look into. Even though he's driving a Maserati GranTurismo in homage to the Transformer Barricade and it reads "Decepticons" and "To punish and enslave" on the sides - in two places - and a Twitter hashtag for #Halomafia, the police in Braintree, MA, didn't like it.
Watch out now, Decepticons are patrolling Quincy Shore Drive! #quincytweets #quincyma pic.twitter.com/gXMerDS0FS
