2005 Maserati Quattroporte Silver Black 119k Miles Low Starting Bid! on 2040-cars

Year:2005 Mileage:119073 Color: is in above average condition with only a few areas of minor scratches and/or dents
Location:

Costa Mesa, California, United States

Costa Mesa, California, United States

Up for auction is above average example of a 2005 Maserati Quattorporte with 119k original miles.  Color is silver with a black interior.  I am listing the car on behalf of a friend and will do my best to describe the car’s condition.  My feedback is 100% for a reason.  I do not try to oversell or exaggerate my description.

The car is in average to above average condition.  The interior does show signs of wear and tear with areas of slightly fading and/or cracking in the leather.  This is indicative of a car with 119k miles.  However, there are no major signs of wear and tear (tears or major scratches).  Some leather treatment and care could revitalize the appearance of the leather dramtically.  The exterior is in above average condition with only a few areas of minor scratches and/or dents.  A couple of spots have small areas of broken paint or a scratch into the paint but again no areas of major damage are apparent.  The rest of the body and paint is in very good condition.

The car runs and drives with no apparent mechanical issue.  However, the owner did note that the check engine light illuminates from time to time.  He said the light will come on if he hasn’t driven the car for a week or so and upon the engine warming up the light goes off.  He has not had the car inspected so he does not know what is creating the intermittent light.  Other than the light there is no other apparent issues with the car.  It starts, engages all gears and drives and stops normally.

One final note.  Due to the intermittent check engine light the car cannot be guaranteed to pass smog in California until which time the problem is resolved.  The owner does not want to pay for the inspection and/or repairs so the car is being sold in as is and where is condition.  Any repairs related to resolving this issue – whatever it may be – will be the responsibility of the buyer.

The car is being listed for sale as an auction with a low starting bid due to the above mentioned issue.  It will sell to the highest bidder regardless of the final price.  The car is located in Costa Mesa, CA 92626 and is available for viewing by appointment only.  For an appointment or if you have any specific questions please feel free to call my assistant Eder at 714-768-1681.

Maserati looking to book 13,000 sales of new Quattroporte in 2013

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

Europe's continuing financial woe is forcing automakers to get creative, and while Fiat may be scaling back its volume vehicles, it's looking to ramp up production of the exclusive Maserati brand. Following the debut of a new Quattroporte sedan, Fiat wants to boost Maserati sales to 50,000 vehicles by 2015. Maserati may lose as much as €7 million ($9.05 million) this year, and Fiat is betting big on Chrysler platforms and dealers to turn that around.
Currently regarded as a low-volume boutique carmaker, Maserati sold just 6,159 units last year, and 4,700 units through three quarters of this year. For 2013, Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne is targeting 13,000 in sales of the redesigned Quattroporte alone. Fiat apparently wants the brand's low volume image to change, hoping to position it closer to BMW and Porsche in the market.
The recent unveiling of the new Quattroporte will be followed by more new vehicle launches, including a crossover utility called Levante, and a long-promised sub-Quattroporte sedan, called Ghibli. The latter will share certain components with the Chrysler 300 sedan in an effort to optimize production costs. The Ghibli will be positioned to take on the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It's all in an effort to turn the profit tide for Maserati and its parent company Fiat amidst European economic turmoil.

2015 Maserati GranTurismo to show new styling language for brand

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

Despite the fact that Maserati has yet to officially mention the next generation of its grand touring lineup, it seems like we know plenty of details about the upcoming range of Maserati coupes and convertibles. First we heard that the GranTurismo line would be growing to include three models, then we heard that new, smaller two-seater (possibly named Gran Sport) could be here by 2016 and, most recently, reports indicated that the GranTurismo's successor will feature more compact dimensions to better take on the Porsche 911.
Now Edmunds is reporting that the 2015 GranTurismo will mark a major evolution in the design language for the Italian automaker, while the Levante SUV will get the current styling cues found on the 2014 Quattroporte and 2014 Ghibli. The article also says that Maserati is planning to offer its models with a wider range of available colors and that it will introduce new limited-edition models as well all in hopes of selling 50,000 units globally by 2015.

1967 Maserati Ghibli puts the grand in grand tourer

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Motor Tend technical director Frank Markus owns a 1967 Maserati Ghibli, bought back in the early 2000s when "they could be had for Camry money" - now Hagerty values them anywhere from $63,000 to $107,000. The grand tourer designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro outsold the more powerful and less expensive Ferrari 365 Daytona, and the more powerful and more expensive Lamborghini Miura.
Carlos Lago, host of the magazine's Ignition video series, figures it's because of the Ghibli's long-haul comfort and the tractability of its 4.7-liter V8 with 330-horsepower and 330 pound-feet accessed with a five-speed manual, even though he cites the powertrain and suspension as being behind the times.
There's no arguing about the Ghibli's sound, though. You can get several ears-full of it, as well as Lagos' and Markus' thoughts on the car, in the video above.
