With a new baby on the way, it looks like it's time to part with my 2010 Laser Blue Evora. It's the 2+2 configuration with Premium, Sport and Tech packages. It also has the close ratio gearbox, rear-view camera, approximately 9700 miles at the time of this listing, and is still under factory warranty until June 2013. It also has a Radium cold air intake and Supersprint exhausts that were installed by the previous owner at Lotus of Greenville in South Carolina.

HISTORY:

The car was originally purchased new from Lotus of Durham in North Carolina, and was later sold to a gentleman in Greenville South Carolina where the Radium CAI, Supersprint exhausts and battery tender wire were installed. The installs were carried out by Lotus of Greenville. I am the third owner, and I am located in Orlando Florida. The car has a clean title and Car Fax, and is in excellent condition as you will see in the pictures.

After purchasing the car back in October, I ordered a Certificate of Provenance from Lotus in England, and this car is 9-out-of-10 Laser Blue Evoras produced, and just 3-out-of-4 cars with the same option in the US in 2010. Only 241 cars in total were made in 2010 for North America, and I believe the Laser Blue is one of the rarest, if not the rarest color on these cars. Refer to the certificate in the pictures for more information.

CONDITION:

The car is practically like new. I detailed the car this weekend, and there is only one imperfection on the paint, and it is a small rock chip on the roof (refer to the picture). Most of the car is covered in Star Shield, so there is not much opportunity for chips/scratches. The interior is near perfect as well. The only maintenance item is that it will be due for a new set of rear tires within the next 2k miles - which I may throw-in to help with the sale. I have an appointment for a warranty go-over on Monday 3/18 at Lotus of Orlando. So the person with the winning offer can have an inspection at that time if desired. Or you can simply talk talk to the service personnel to vouch for the car.

OBSERVATIONS:

One thing I will note having driven a few Evora's before purchasing this one. The combination of the Radium CAI and Supersprint exhaust just makes this car different in all the right ways (just my opinion). Throttle response feels better, and the additional power and exhaust note on acceleration make it feel like a true exotic. All this without sacrificing driveability and reliability. In combination with the close ratio gear box, I think all base Evora's should have come from the factory like this. Refer to the following video to get an idea of the sound with the intake and exhausts installed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAGA1c_32M8 . Of course, you could restore the the factory intake and exhausts since I am including them with the sale.

Lotus Advanced Performance offers hints about special projects

Tue, Jun 28 2022

Four months ago, Lotus teased the creation of an Advanced Performance division. The legendary sports car maker divulged that the department would build "ultra-exclusive and unique vehicles" outside of the firm's regular-production lineup, developing Lotus race cars, manage Lotus motorsports programs, work on customer commissions and create customer experiences from Hethel production tours and track days to global driving academies and "money can't buy" opportunities. In further comments to Autocar and Auto Express, the head of Lotus Advanced Performance (LAP), Simon Lane, gave clues about what's coming. Lane suggested a number of creations, but the part we're most excited about is "while wider Lotus Group moves towards full-on electrification, LAP is 'reserving the right to still play with combustion engines.'" These ICE powerplants could be slated for coming restomod projects based on plans and technical drawings for Lotus products in the 1960s and 1970s that were never produced. Lane said his 15-person team is "well advanced" on work on what he calls "scratch build" vehicles that will hearken to vintage wares but be "easier to drive and maybe [have] a better power-to-weight ratio and better brakes." We love our electric cars here at Autoblog, but the idea of lightweight revivals recalling Lotus' best years with classic lines, small-displacement engines and maybe even manual transmissions would be glorious. These won't be continuation cars, but all-new products with production runs said to be smaller than anyone would expect.    It's possible we could see something this year, 2022 being the 50th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi and Lotus winning the 1972 Formula 1 Driver's and Constructor's Championships in the Lotus-Ford 72D. That might explain the teaser image from February, if not the colors of the car in the teaser. Know what other momentous Lotus moment occurred in 1972? The Esprit concept debuted at the Turin Motor Show. Lane, who comes from service in Aston Martin's Q division, calls LAP "the most all-encompassing special operations department" among automakers. That means there will be work done on the electric side, too, potential services being electric drivetrain conversions of traditional Lotus cars, and creating new bodywork for the new range of battery-electric cars.

Lotus adds lightness to new Exige S Club Racer

Mon, Mar 23 2015

If there are two things Lotus is good at, they're trimming weight off already lightweight cars and getting the most out of its existing products. And those are just the talents it's called on to roll out the new Exige S Club Racer. Based on the Exige that's been on the market since 2000 – itself based on the Elise that dates back to 1996 – the new Exige S Club Racer manages to cut an extra 33 pounds off the vehicle's already featherlike curb weight, now down to under 2,600 lbs. The weight reduction comes down largely to the lightweight battery, center console, doors and sports seats. Yet measured at 100 miles per hour, the coupe also produces 93 lbs of extra downforce thanks to the revised aero package that includes a new front splitter, rear wing and flat underbody. Joining the Elise 20th Anniversary Edition (which itself replaces the Elise S Club Racer), the new Lotus Exige S Club Racer packs a 3.5-liter V6 to run to 62 in four seconds flat and on to a top speed of 170 mph. That's some rather impressive performance for a vehicle that only costs GBP56,900 in the UK, which is about what you'd pay for a Porsche Cayman GTS over there that would cost us around $75k. Unfortunately, Lotus doesn't sell the Exige in the US anymore, so this is one further improvement on a model we'll just have to admire from across the ocean. NEW LOTUS EXIGE S CLUB RACER - FASTER AND LIGHTER - Club Racer ethos applied to searingly quick Exige S - Weight reduced by 15 kg - Lotus benchmarks for handling and pure driving experience Applying the Lotus refined Club Racer principles to the already stunning Exige S results in the most inspiring version of an already class-leading sports car. The Exige S is a model that already excels, thanks to its lightweight aluminium chassis-tub and aerodynamically enhanced composite bodywork. Its 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine delivers exciting performance, benchmark handling and a pure driving experience combined with a 4.0 seconds 0-62mph (0-100km/h) acceleration time and a top speed of 274 km/h (170 mph). Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Group Lotus plc, expressed his enthusiasm for the new model: "Factoring the Club Racer ethos into the Exige enhances the track-focussed potential of this important model.

Lotus stepping up to LMP1 in World Endurance Championship

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

Only a couple of years ago, it looked like the top tier of prototype endurance racing was in trouble. Peugeot shut down its program, leaving the LMP1 category all to Audi to dominate. Only six cars entered the Petit Le Mans in 2012, and the season was cut short. But the top class in the FIA World Endurance Championship has since blossomed. And it only looks poised to grow further.
Audi and Toyota will each be back on the grid this season, joined by Porsche. But the latest news has Lotus stepping up to the big leagues also. (Well, sorta: the German-run squad uses the Lotus name and colors, but has no more to do with the automaker than the Formula One team of the same name.)
The Lotus LMP1 will be based on the same Lola-based T129 chassis used until now in the LMP2 class, with former F1 driver Christijan Albers leading the driver lineup. In addition to Audi, Toyota and Porsche, the solitary Lotus entry will also compete against privateer Rebellion Racing in a nine-car LMP1 grid throughout the season.
