Up for sale is a 2005 Lotus Elise in Storm Titanium with Red leather interior and Black Exige wheels with 38k miles. The Grey/Red combination is incredibly rare, few were made with this combination. Also, the black wheels were only an option with the Exige, but this car was lucky enough to get them from the factory because they had ran out of the standard (and frankly, more boring) Elise wheels.
The car has the Touring pack (leather, power windows, carpet, and additional insulation in the body, doors, and the soft top). The Storm Titanium paint is metallic (another option) that really attracts the eye. The car has the StarShield pack (similar to a 3M clear bra on some body panels). No rock chips in the paint, but there are two minor knicks in the StarShield. No accidents. Always garaged. Regular Maintenance. All documents included. The car looks great and it is a dream to drive. The best feedback of any car I've ever driven. If you've ever driven karts, you will love this car. Cosmetically, the car looks fantastic. Mechanically, everything is perfect with the exception that the 2nd/3rd synchro needs replaced, hence the slight discount from comparable Lotii. For the sake of full disclosure: the two estimates I've gotten were approximately $150 for the synchro and $900 for the labor. The prospective buyer may want to do other things while the work is being done (i.e. clutch upgrades, etc), so I have opted to let the buyer have it done. If you like working on cars (and apparently many Lotus owners do), 90% of the work can be done by yourself and you can save yourself some coin. I can provide the Lotus repair documentation if desired. The Elise only weighs 1950 lbs! It goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds on 168 HP! The car broke Road & Track's 60-0 braking distance record at 105 feet! It has no power steering which gives it incredible response on the road. If you're looking at this car, you clearly have good taste for fine automobiles. If you've never owned a Lotus but always have wanted to, this is a great car to start with. However, you should be comfortable talking to people who approach you about this car...because it will happen. Frequently. 100% feedback since 1999. David 818.448.8392 |

2017 Renault Alpine still looks like a Lotus
Thu, Jul 23 2015Two years ago, an oddly modified Lotus Exige was photographed speeding around the Nurburgring. While that car looked British, at the time Renault's engineers were reportedly developing the suspension for the future Alpine sports coupe underneath with some help from the folks at Ohlins. Now, our spies have spotted this weird Lotus-bodied mule out testing, and it might be a major hint that development for the reborn French brand is getting serious again. Unfortunately, it's hard to pull many details about the future Alpine just from this mule. Up front the air extractors are noticeably covered, and at the rear there's now a panel hiding the engine with just some small vents near the very back. The roof-mounted scoop appears to be the major means of sending cool air to the powertrain. Alpine has been back in the news as of late. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the brand's Celebration Concept was unveiled but without many real details. Then, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the car was filmed actually moving under its own power. Earlier reports suggest that a production version, possibly called the AS1, might come in 2017 with around 250 horsepower on tap from an engine mounted behind the driver. Engineers would keep weight as low as possible to make the most from that power. While no version in the US is likely, prices in Europe might be about the equivalent of $34,000 to $40,000.
Lotus could be sold to Chinese automaker Geely
Mon, Feb 20 2017Two things are constant throughout the history of Lotus Cars: amazing vehicles, and financial struggles. Frequent changes in both ownership and leadership have left the company's future up in the air. And while the new management has improved quality and set a new product plan in place, its seems that Lotus could have a new parent company soon. Despite comments to the contrary, Chinese automaker Geely is rumored to be interested in acquiring Lotus Cars. The British automaker has been owned by Proton since 1996, but after Proton was sold to DRB-Hicom in 2012 investors suggested selling off Lotus. The Star Online reports that PSA in France is rumored to be looking at purchasing Proton cars from DRB-Hicom. In turn, Geely, the parent company of Volvo, is interested in purchasing Lotus from Proton. The report states that Geely has no interest in mass-market vehicles from Proton, while crossover-focus PSA, owner of Peugeot and Citroen, has no interest in a sports car manufacturer like Lotus. China has been encouraging its native automakers to purchase and acquire technology it lacks. Buying Lotus looks like it would benefit both companies. Lotus needs an influx of cash while Geely, looking to compete further on the global stage, would gain a great deal of technical and engineering knowledge from Lotus. Geely's stewardship of Volvo has been mostly hands-off, while giving the Swedish company enough money to invest in new platforms and technologies. If the same were to happen to Lotus, Colin Chapman's company could have its best years ahead of it. Lotus introduces Exclusive customization program
Sat, Jan 16 2016Lotus doesn't sell much beyond the Evora 400 in the US, but the announcement of a new personalization program won't be limited to just that model. The Lotus Exclusive program will be applicable to every model that Lotus makes, including the Elise and Exige in all their many iterations, the new 3-Eleven, and the Evora – which remains, for the time being, the only model currently certified for use on American roads. The company will even apply its new range of customization options to pre-owned models. Hethel is currently rolling out the Lotus Exclusive program in Europe, but plans to expand its availability later this year. Buyers will be able to pick from an expanded range of exterior colors – or have a custom hue mixed up specially – in matte, gloss, metallic, or pearlescent finishes. Custom graphics can be applied to the roof and mirror caps, and various exterior components (from spoilers to add-on decals) can be ordered in one of four colors, as can the three available styles of racing stripes. The interior will be available to order with five colors of leather and four colors of stitching thread to give the cockpit a unique touch. Of course Lotus isn't the first manufacturer to offer such a personalization service, which is fast becoming standard fare among exotic and luxury automakers – particularly in Europe. In the UK alone you'll find McLaren Special Operations, Q by Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce Bespoke, and Bentley's Mulliner division. Other examples include Ferrari Tailor Made, Lamborghini Ad Personam, and Porsche Exclusive. Dodge even offers the "1 of 1" program for the Viper GTC. At the very pinnacle of the exotic supercar market, however, manufacturers like Bugatti, Pagani, and Koenigsegg build every one of their supercars to order, according to the customer's specifications, so personalization comes part and parcel with the bragging rights.
