I am selling this car because my company is relocating and I have had a blast with this car. I don't want to have the car back East.
It has been a CA car garaged since I bought it 10 years ago. I really would like to see it go to a person who intends to use the car. I am in no hurry to sell. Outside: The paint is in awesome shape. No spider cracks. It does have some nicks in the back and front. They are in the photos. The front and rear bumpers are not on the car. I have the rear bumper but it needs a new front bumper. The windshield needs to be reset. Interior: The headliner is not installed the way it should be. The front drivers seat has a tear on the passenger side of the seat. I have a replacement seat in the box to replace it. The radio is not stock. It is a radio with CD/ DVD playing capabilities. The door panels replace or reline the originals. All the gauges are Smith with the exception of the Amp meter. The electric windows work slow. The cowling in between the seats needs some work. The speedometer cable has been out since I bought it. I have the replacement it just needs to be installed. Engine & Transmission: Very strong engine! The 5 speed transmission works fine. The car RPM drops low some times. The ignition light comes on if you do not rev the engine. Frame: No RUST The car is set up to rally race it has adjustable shocks, PanSprot rims, and a rare Spider Frame. I have used the car as a 3 day driver each week for over a year now. . "This Lotus Is Reliable" The car is in very good condition. I have had it registered since I bought it. Car has new electronic ignition. Installed one year ago . It handles even better then a stock lotus. Possible trade for cash and 750-1000cc motorcycle in good condition. |

Lotus Elise returning to US in 2020
Mon, Aug 3 2015If you've been hoping to get your hands on a new Lotus Elise, we've got mixed news for you. The good news is that Lotus will bring the Elise back to the US market. The bad news is that it won't happen before 2020. Lotus was forced to withdraw the model (along with the Exige) from the US market in 2011 after it no longer complied with US safety regulations and its temporary exemptions expired. Lotus first launched the Elise in 1996 when the company was still owned by former Bugatti chief Romano Artioli. It rolled out the current Series 2 model in 2001, and brought it to America for the first time in 2004. The larger Evora faced similar issues, and was modified in the form of the new Evora 400 that now meets US regulations. Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales tells Automotive News that doing the same with the Elise would be unfeasible. "We'd need smart airbags, plus side airbags and to change the whole front crash structure. It would add 100kg," or 220 pounds, said Gales. While modifying the current Elise would be prohibitive, the next version is being designed to meet American standards. That won't happen before 2020. In the meantime, Lotus continues to sell a small number of certain variants of the Elise and Exige for use exclusively on tracks. Lotus honors F1 efforts with limited-edition Exige LF1
Tue, 10 Jun 2014Lotus has announced a new, special edition of its hardcore Exige for customers in the UK and Europe. Limited to just 81 units (for the Lotus Formula One team's 81 victories), the new Exige LF1 is the ultimate accessory for fans of the British manufacturer's Formula One efforts.
Befitting of a car inspired by the Lotus E22, this particular Exige is finished in the team's traditional black and gold colors, complete with red accents inspired by the F1 racer. The exterior is further enhanced with unique badges that proclaim the LF1's limited-edition status. Matte gold wheels have also been fitted, just like this Lotus' big brother.
This isn't purely a paint-and-stickers job, though. Lotus has also touched up the cabin, offering up black leather and "technical fabric," complete with gold contrast stitching and piping. The seat backs and floor mats feature embroidered logos, while an individually numbered, carbon-fiber plaque sits on the LF1's dash.
Lotus to move immediately forward with new variants rather than new models
Mon, 22 Jul 2013It took 1.5 years, but a DRB-Hicom managing director told Malaysia's Business Times that the company has "cleaned up" the situation at Lotus from its finances to its marketing and image. The clean-up job we're most interested in, the product portfolio, will be demonstrated by financial investment in a three-year program of "variants based on existing products - variants with improved technology, improved performance."
You'll notice mention of the word "variants" three times but no mention of the phrase "new models." We knew that with the death of the five-new-model turnaround plan dreamed up by ex-Lotus CEO Dany Bahar DRB-Hicom said there'd only be three distinct lines - which is the current number - but during Lotus' trouble-plagued 2012 it sold just 80 cars all year, and for a tense spell it really wasn't clear if DRB-Hicom would commit to even keeping Lotus alive, much less investing in it.
It's not clear how much is being put into in the three-year program of offshoot models like the 345-horsepower Exige S Roadster (pictured), but it might be fair to say this is where Lotus' revival really begins, and does so with baby steps. Autocar reports that DRB-Hicom has already put 100 million pounds into the English carmaker, and as its issues were worked through Lotus has sold almost as many cars in the first five months of this year as it did all of last. That has not only convinced the Malaysian minders to throw more money its way, but the UK's business secretary has also approved a 10-million-pound investment into Lotus through the Regional Growth Facility program.
