2007 Lotus Exige S. 8500 Miles. Fresh K24 Honda Drivetrain. on 2040-cars
Edmond, Oklahoma, United States
2007 Exige S with approx 8700 miles. This Exige is an over the top track prepped fire breathing monster. It is well sorted out, extremely fast, extremely consistent, and designed specifically to handle long runs without any fade or the typical heat related issues that plague the Exige/Elise on the track. The car weighs just over 1500lbs and produces approx 300hp. It is not only fast, but easy to drive fast. It makes good drivers look great and great drivers look like heros. To further improve lap consistency, the driver seat has been shifted to the center of the passenger cabin. The vehicle has had no collision history, and retains the original body and factory paint. The few body alterations have been professionally performed only to either displace heat or improve aerodynamics. It features a freshly built K24 Honda 2.4 liter (drivetrain specifics below)powerplant, freshly built Gear Speed 5 speed gearbox with composite synchros, full aerodyamics, fully adjustable suspension (specifics below), single center mount seat conversion, and spares. The cost to build this car would be well into the six figures. Drivetrain Specs: Honda K24 long block (2005 Acura TSX) Acura RSX Type S head with dual V-Tec Cams. Full Race Cams. Hybrid Racing Fuel Rail. Port Matched. Oversized Throttle Body. Hondata ECM Software. Full Race Stainless Exhaust (no catalytic converter or emission system) Lightweight Flywheel. Clutch is made for track use only and does hop when leaving a stop, but is made to handle the abuse of the track (only 30 or so hours on the clutch) Gearspeed 5speed Gearbox. Specifically designed for this car with no expense spared. Composite synchros and straight cut gears. Third gear is intentionally very long. You will not have problems with this box, period. Limited Slip Differential Oversized Aluminum Radiator with dual top mount electric fans. Oversized oil cooler. Custom high capacity highly heat resistant wiring harness. You will not have electrical issues. All Engine mounts specifically made for this vehicle by Innovative Mounts. There is much more to list... Difflow Undertray Aero Plates. Interior, Electronics, Saftety and Driveability: Center mount seat conversion. All parts are Autocad designed and forged aluminum. From the seat mounts, to the pedals, to the dash/steering column mounts, to the shifter, shifter box and shifter bushings. Reverie Carbon Fiber seat. Can be adjusted, but is currently set up for a 5'-11" to 6'-1", 190-200lb driver. IMRP Shifter Box with Hybrid Racing Short Throw Shifter and customer aluminum linkage (with spares for adjustments). Sparco Steering wheel with removable steering hub. Full Fire System. Hondata Engine Management AIM data logger. Custom aluminum firewall (quick release for easy engine bay access). FIA approved Fuel Cell. Full Cockpit and engine bay cage. All body and underbody fasteners are quick release (the rear bodywork and aerdynamics can be removed in under 10 minutes by two people). You could spend $150k or more to replicate a track car with this much speed, handling, consistency, safety. All of the frustrating Lotus traits have been tuned out of this car without losing the soul of the car, yet performance has been brought up to a level that would make Sir Colin Chapman's head spin. |

Lotus hops into Extreme E with Jenson Button ahead of first race weekend
Mon, Mar 29 2021The Extreme E racing series is filling out with a host of interesting names, and Lotus is the latest manufacturer to join the fray. Lotus is hopping in as technical partner to the Jenson Button Extreme E team, making it quite the British powerhouse. A single photo of the rally vehicle is above with a simple JBXE and Lotus livery. Seeing Lotus hop into electric racing makes sense given that it will be pushing the Evija hypercar out the door soon. The company says it will be leveraging the experience it gained in development of that car to help it succeed on the motorsports side. “We are on the cusp of an exciting new era of electrified motorsport, and weÂ’re delighted to support the JBXE team as Technical Partner,” says Matt Windle, managing director of Lotus Cars. “The complex technicalities of EV racing present a fascinating challenge, and using our learnings from more than a decade of electrifying sports cars – most recently with the Lotus Evija hypercar – we can bring valuable knowledge to the team.” Jenson Button is acting as both the team owner and driver of the car in the Extreme E series. Other notable car companies hopping into the series include GMC (a Hummer partnership), Fisker, Hispano Suiza and Cupra. Other racing outfits are also hopping on without the support of major car manufacturers. The field has just nine teams right now, but the slow trickle continues with promising entries. This latest development with Lotus and Jenson Button is just another feather in the seriesÂ’ cap. "Lotus is a great British brand that is inextricably linked to motorsport, so we are delighted to welcome Lotus Engineering to JBXE,” Button says. “Extreme E is a unique and exciting formula, full of 'world firsts' and challenges, and to announce that a brand such as Lotus Engineering is coming on this journey with us is a proud moment for myself and the team. We are very excited about our new technical partnership and canÂ’t wait to show what we can do in the first race this weekend.” That first race — termed the “Desert X Prix” — will take place in Saudi Arabia this weekend. ItÂ’s airing on Fox Sports in the U.S. The second race is nearly two months after this upcoming one and will take place in Senegal.
Lotus admits its fancy London shop is a waste of money
Thu, Feb 4 2016Piccadilly in London is one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. And right by where they filmed that awesome scene from American Werewolf in London, Lotus has a showroom. I wandered in last week. Handmade suit, posh watch, smart shoes. But the lack of interest from the sales staff made me think I was wearing a Kimi "Leave me alone I know what I'm doing" T-shirt. To the cognoscenti it's a bit confused. There is no separation between the Lotus F1 team and Lotus cars. Even though a friend at Lotus F1 once told me that the team has a closer relationship with Microsoft than it does with Lotus Cars. What makes this especially strange is that the F1 stuff is front and centre: overpriced caps, T-shirts, and team gear, with the cars playing second fiddle. Yet this is a store paid for by Cars. You have to wonder what the shop is going to sell next year when the Enstone F1 team drops the Lotus name to become Renault. But that is nothing to the wondering you start to do when you speak to the staff. On a previous visit I'd asked about the relationship between Lotus F1 and Lotus Cars, and the sales staff insisted that they were one and the same. A short time after that I spoke to Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales at an event where he'd been the guest speaker. He told me that moves were underway to fix the problem and that they would soon have staff in the shop that knew about the cars. So last week's return visit was depressing. In the back there is an Exige and an Elise. I asked the difference and the girl suggested that we look it up on the internet. She took a business card, I made my excuses and left. Daft really I might not have bought a car but I was seriously tempted by the GBP20 carbon fibre pen. My local dealer, Hexagon, called and mailed, but what was really telling, and bloody impressive, was the call from Hethel. I vented my disappointment with the Piccadilly store, and the Lotus man explained. And impressed. Normally you'd get some dreadful company line about how the shop wasn't for people like me, that it was all deliberate to avoid scaring people off and welcome new blood to the brand. But instead he was honest. He told me that the shop was a folly. That it was one of Dany Bahar's many expensive ideas. He signed a ten-year lease on the shop at a million pounds a year and they can't afford to run it. They did train up some good people but, as you can't pay people rural Norfolk salaries and expect them to work in Piccadilly, they left.
Detroit Electric is actually active in Detroit
Mon, Jun 30 2014Here's some news that will make the urban scavengers sifting through the ruins of the Motor City a little disappointed. Detroit Electric, the slow-moving electric-vehicle maker basing their wares off of a couple of Lotus models is employing people in Detroit. And some local vehicle production may follow. The company is working out of Detroit's Fisher Building, which had been empty last year, and says it plans to boost its employee count from eight to about 20 by the end of the year, The Truth About Cars reports. Detroit Electric changed its production plans for the Lotus Elise-based SP:01 last year, moving the manufacturing base of that model to the Netherlands from a production facility in Plymouth, MI, about 30 miles west of Detroit. Right now, the SP:01 is being worked on in Europe, Malaysia's Paultan.org says. That 201-horsepower model can go from 0-62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and has a single-charge range of about 190 miles. That model is expected to be priced at about $135,000. Detroit Electric is also working on a 2+2 EV based on the Lotus Evora, and, while government approvals await, the four-seater may be available for sale as soon as early 2016.
