Model Overview

The Lotus Exige was introduced in 2006 as a hard-top version of Elise. It carries many of the best features of the Elise, such as the all-aluminum chassis, and the feather-light design. Weighing in at 2,077 lbs, the Exige is one of the lightest closed cars available. Besides fixing the roof, Lotus stiffened the suspension and made subtle changes to the sheet metal. The Exige features a unique engine cover and rear wing, as well as a front fascia that helps provide additional downforce over the Elise. For 2007, Lotus wanted to improve engine performance, so they added a supercharger to the 1.8L Toyota-sourced engine. This boosted output to 220 horsepower and torque to 165 ft-lbs, all while increasing efficiency to 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. But what has not changed is how dedicated Lotus is to making the Exige the ultimate driver's car. The seats are specially shaped to embrace the driver, but the thin padding means that every nuance of the road is transmitted to his or her hips. The car sits extraordinarily low at 45 inches tall. The steering is not power-assisted, but the ratio is quick and communication with the road is razor sharp. The only transmission available is a six-speed manual. The Lotus also features only four cubic feet of cargo space--1.3 cubic feet less than a Mazda MX-5.But that's the cost of the Exige's blistering performance. Lotus claims a zero to sixty time of 4.1 seconds. The Exige's mid-engine design, racing-style anti-lock brakes, and Eibach/Bilstein suspension mean this is a serious sports car. Lotus didn't want to dilute the essence of the car, but they did spare a few popular comfort items. Among them, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, leather seats with leather inserts, and a Blaupunkt CD player. The Exige is available in several configurations to suit the ways different people intend to use it. The Touring Package adds full leather seats, power windows, and sound insulation.

Description of Car

Here is an absolutely beautiful 2006 Lotus Exige S that is in excellent condition and an absolute blast to drive.

This particular car was loaded from the factory with every option, White paint, Touring Package with leather seats and an overall more comfortable interior and an i-pod hook up. Additionally this car was prepared with a Carbon Fiber Splitter,  Schroth ASM Racing Harnesses, Light Weight Battery, Custom Engine Tune and Katana II supercharger means this engine is making 255 hp! Also fitted is a Larini Sport Exhaust, Ferodo Street / Track brakes, rigid engine mounts, “bollock” shift knob, Toyo R888 tires, DBW Pedals.  This car performs flawlessly and makes for an excellent affordable track car that can be driven to and from the track! With the weight reductions and the supercharger, this car is making 260 hp per ton; compare that with a NEW Porsche 911 that only makes 230 hp per ton.  You decide how this translates into driving fun. This car is fully street legal with current California smog!!! There are not many track day toys that can be as reliable as a Toyota, with the performance of a super car. Most of the original factory Lotus parts are available with the car. These truly are excellent cars and are very rare with less than 300 imported to the US. This is an accident free car that is ready to be driven and enjoyed.  This is a great value and these cars will undoubtedly be sought after as collectible cars in the future!!! This car earns lots of thumbs up everywhere you go and is a pleasure to drive. It would make a great addition to any collection or a weekend showpiece.

I can help arrange shipping anywhere in the world and international buyers are welcome to enjoy this great 2006 Supercharged Exige!

Lotus and Aston Martin to hook up?

Tue, 30 Oct 2012

This has been a tumultuous year for Lotus - to say the least - from the company being sold off back in January to its CEO Dany Bahar being fired in June to its questionable financial status and rumors of the British automaker being sold off to another automaker. First, we heard that Volkswagen was interested in acquiring Lotus and parent company Proton, a rumor that was later dismissed. Now Automobile is reporting that fellow Brit Aston Martin could be in the market to work with or possibly even merge with Lotus.
While this is pure speculation at this point, such a venture could prove to be beneficial for both independent companies. That's because with Lotus focused on lightweight, relatively affordable sports cars and Aston Martin producing high-end performance cars, there is virtually no product overlap between the companies. The article suggests that a person or company wanting to merge these two automakers would have to raise between $1.1 billion and $1.6 billion in order to make a go of it, however.
We're not sure what to think of this latest rumor, but anything that can help get the struggling brand back to health at least has our interest.

Lotus Evija X track special appears in spy photos at the Nurburgring

Wed, Jun 14 2023

Few people would say the Lotus Evija is lacking in performance. It's meant to make just shy of 2,000 horsepower and is light for an electric car at around 3,700 pounds. But apparently Lotus wants to go further. These spy shots reveal a wild track-only special that's clearly labeled the Lotus Evija X testing at the Nurburgring. We're assuming this X will be substantially lighter than a regular Evija. It has a bare carbon body with seemingly fewer individual pieces. The headlights are gone and so are the rear windows. The interior appears gutted, too. That carbon body is far from stock, too. It's much wider and has all manner of downforce-producing add-ons. The front has a massive front splitter and canards and cutouts above the front wheels. The sides even have wide splitters with struts. And the X's crown aero accessory is that enormous wing that rises well above the roof.  The wide body also encompasses fat slick racing tires that are almost certainly not street legal. They bear the Pirelli P Zero name on the sidewalls, and they're wrapped around center-lock wheels. AP Racing brakes are tucked inside. There are of course plenty of questions surrounding the Evija X. It's definitely a track-only machine, but is it a one-off, or is it going to be sold in extremely limited numbers to select buyers? Maybe Lotus wants to take the Evija racing? Though it seems more like a rules-be-damned type of car like the Pagani Zonda R. Or maybe the Volkswagen ID.R, the fastest electric car to lap the 'Ring, would be a closer analogue to the Evija X. The spy photographer that provided these photos said the track was rented out for the day by Lotus, and some sort of notary was on hand, likely to certify a lap time. If Lotus is gunning for an EV lap record there, the Evija R is going to be outrageously fast. The ID.R's time sits at a shocking 6:05.336. And if the Lotus tops it, it would become the second fastest overall car at the 'Ring. We'll definitely be looking forward to more details and an eventual lap time. Related video:

The Caterham Seven Sprint is a perfect retro-style British roadster

Mon, Sep 12 2016

A Caterham Seven oozes retro style. Modern engineering may mean the car no longer shares any parts with its original Lotus counterpart, but one look at the little roadster and it's easy to see the car's heritage. Caterham loves pumping out variants of the Seven, and the 2016 Goodwood Revival seemed like the perfect place to announce the latest version, the throwback Caterham Seven Sprint. Caterham calls the Seven Sprint a design "that was seemingly planned in the mid-1960s but never launched." It's apt then that the company is using it to kick off its "60 Years of the Seven" celebrations. The Seven Sprint is based off the European-only 160 model, meaning it's powered by an 80-hp turbocharged three-cylinder Suzuki engine. While the bonkers Seven 620 R may be the biggest and baddest Caterham available, the bare bones Seven 160 just feels more appropriate here. There are a number of retro styling touches throughout the car. The limited edition Seven Sprint comes wrapped in one of six colors originally offered by Lotus in 1966 and 1967. The Chassis is powder-coated grey, just like the Series 2 Lotus Seven. The cream-colored wheels feature polished hubcaps, while the interior features a wood-trimmed wheel and the interior is trimmed in a wonderful shade of red. The body has been slightly reworked to look more like the original Lotus designed car. Mechanically, not much has changed. Power from the Suzuki three is fed through a five-speed manual. Some of the suspension bits are similar to Colin Chapman's original design, but that's true of the standard 160. The car should be just as much of a riot as any other Caterham, just packed to the gills with style. The Seven Sprint is available only as a fully-complete factory car. It's unknown if any of the 60 produced will make it to the US. Prices in the UK start at GBP27,995, or about $37,000.
