BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE WITH 25K MILES IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION, OWNED AND WELL MAINTAINED BY ENTHUSIAST/PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, GREAT RECORDS, Original window sticker, Comes with $1500 BRAND NEW CLUTCH IN BOX (NOT NEEDED)

This 2001 Lotus Esprit, Calypso Red over a Tan interior, is a three owner car in incredible original condition. It's most recent owner is a professional mechanic and true Lotus enthusiast. He has carefully maintained and preserved the car. As he told me, "I drive it like a Camry." The car was bought new at Lotus of Denver and then had one subsequent owner before coming to the east coast.

Mechanically, the car has several nice upgrades. The most noticeable are the genuine 3 piece HRE wheels, which the previous owner purchased at a cost of over $4000. They are stock size and the tires were replaced two years ago and still look virtually new with only several hundred miles on them. The car is equipped with a Tubi exhaust and sport cats, as well as blow off valves. The car also runs a fully adjustable suspension with poly bushings. The timing belt was replaced with a Gates belt 500 miles ago. Gates belts are long lasting alternatives to the stock belts. The oil was also changed with fresh Motul 500 miles ago, along with brake fluid (Motful) and antifreeze (Mercedes Blue.) The car comes with great service records and receipts. The car is being sold with a brand new factory clutch still in the box. The owner says the car does not need it, it's just something he bought to put on when the car needed it in the future.

The nose and sills of the car are wrapped in a Star Shield clear bra to protect it from the road. The overall condition of the car is remarkable, with only a few minor signs of use, namely a few small stone chips, the normal (but slight) wear to the driver's side seat bolster, and a few small cracks in very edge of the front wheelarches because the car previously wore 19 inch wheels. Other than that, the car is about as immaculate as you could get for a 13 year old car with 25,700 miles on it. The paint is absolutely beautiful and the interior looks practically brand new. It has a clean carfax (see pics below.) According to the previous owner car has never been tracked or abused in any way. I have not driven the car, but the owner says it drives excellent.

The car comes with all its records, its original window sticker, a fitted car cover, as well as a number of items for the next tune up. Iridium plugs, plenum gasket, plug wires, etc. A new clutch for the car is also available for an additional cost, for future use.

The car, as with all my vehicles, has a clean and clear title transferred properly through my dealership.

Lotus has a new sports car in the pipeline

Fri, Mar 15 2019

Lotus is bringing a new, yet-unnamed model to the market next year, as Autocar reports. The new sports car is likely to be based on a significantly updated Evora platform, and it will function as a link between the current lineup and a new portfolio, which can incorporate even sport utility vehicles and electrified products as well as a completely new sports car platform. To appeal to less-than-hardcore Lotus buyers, the new model will offer improved practicality and livability, with better ergonomics and comfort than current Lotus models. It will be a challenge to achieve this without compromising on weight; the earlier attempted Lotus re-invention in the early 2010s was based on five simultaneously unveiled concept cars that weren't as lightweight as desired, nor based on a solid foundation. Ultimately, the concepts led nowhere, and the then-CEO was terminated. When the time comes to update the Elise, Exige and Evora in the next decade, they will be based on a new architecture under development that will meet U.S. regulations from the get-go. The recently appointed CEO, Phil Popham, told Autocar: "The focus for now is on replacing the products we've got today — the sports cars," said Popham. "In a long time, Lotus has not had sight of what is required. You need a longterm plan, a product plan and a business plan locked down with investment. We have that plan locked in." Lotus' tie-in with new owner Geely can result in funding in the billions, with Geely assisting with engineering and manufacturing. Crucial Lotus input such as design and product planning will continue in Hethel, UK, but with Geely helping out elsewhere, in Coventry, Sweden, Germany and China. Currently, Lotus continues to use Toyota engine technology, but there is a possibility that future Lotus models will use Geely-related powertrain parts.

Lotus reveals an even lighter version of the Elise Cup 250

Thu, Jun 1 2017

For an automaker with very few resources, Lotus manages to keep things relatively fresh. The new Evora 400 is a blast to drive, even if it is just a heavily revised version of the car that debuted in 2009. The current Lotus Elise debuted back in 2010, and though it may have departed from our shores, Lotus keeps customers worldwide happy with a plethora of new variants. The latest model is the lightweight Lotus Elise Cup 250. Now, this isn't the same Elise Cup 250 that debuted last year, though the two cars are very, very similar. The main difference is weight, as is typical with a Lotus. Colin Chapman's tried and true saying, simplify and add lightness, is still true here. The new model weighs just 1,895 pounds, or 1,948 without the lightweight package. Last year's Elise Cup 250 was already quite svelte at 2,053 pounds. While you may think that shaving that much weight from an already light car must be the result of black magic or a localized black hole, the truth is far more simple. The Elise Cup 250 makes extensive use of carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum for components like the bodywork, exhaust, and wheels. The rear window is plastic instead of glass, and the standard lead-acid battery is replaced with a lithium-ion battery. The rest of the car remains mostly unchanged. The car is propelled by a 243-horsepower supercharged 1.8-liter inline four. It can hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, quicker than the more powerful Evora 400. There's plenty of aero to keep the car planted, but it's not a pure track car like the Exige. The Elise Cup 250 still comes with a full interior with a stereo, though there's no mention of cupholders. As exciting as all this may be, the Elise Cup 250 won't be coming to the US. Unfortunately, airbags and crash structures all add weight. For everyone else, the Elise Cup 250 is at dealers now. Lotus to add 2 new sports cars by 2020, SUV by 2022

Mon, Jan 29 2018

British sports carmaker Lotus will bring two new sports cars in 2020 with an SUV right behind them in 2021 or '22, becoming the brand's first all-new vehicles since it began production of the Evora back in 2009.CAR Magazine reports the news in an interview with Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales. Of the two cars, he said only that one will be a replacement for an existing car, with the other likely to be a limited-edition, track-focused car slotted above the Evora. It'll base the cheaper of the two on an evolution of Lotus' bonded aluminum chassis, while the other will get a new carbon-fiber chassis and become the brand's new performance flagship. Chinese automaker Geely, which also owns Volvo, purchased a majority ownership stake in Lotus last year, adding what's hoped to be a measure of stability and badly needed investment to years of ownership changes and endless re-iterations of existing models. With Geely money backing the operation, it's likely these two vehicles will be more likely to come to fruition than the last batch of ambitious concepts from the company, which included a new Esprit, Elite, and Elan. Those never progressed beyond the concept stage. The company soon after revealed the Evora GT430 as its fastest, most-powerful road car to date, with a 0-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds, and it put the same supercharged V6 in the Exige to bump up horsepower to 430 and increase torque to 325 pound-feet. Meanwhile, Lotus is ending production of the 3-Eleven this year, and Gales has previously said the company was developing a new Elise for 2020, so it's likely that's one of the new cars. The Elise and Exige were withdrawn from the U.S. back in 2011. The new vehicles will benefit from technology from Geely's network of suppliers, and Geely is also apparently hiring new Lotus staff and investing "millions" in Lotus' production lines. Lotus said its sales were way up in both Europe and the U.S. during its last fiscal year, and while the brand still lost money it narrowed its financial losses and said it expected to be profitable before tax for the current fiscal year.Related Video:
