Selling my Chili Red 2006 Lotus Elise. Currently has 70k miles, clean title, street driven and maintenance up to date with recent services completed. This is a fantastic driving car and handles like no other! Very exotic and unique looking, especially in Chili Red paint, it turns heads and gets questions everywhere I take it. Lots of attention! Reason for selling, I currently do not need the car at the moment so it is up for sale. I have recently completed needed services and upgraded to a few aftermarket parts. Runs and drives perfectly, no issues. This lotus is packaged with touring package, track package suspension, and traction control. This is a street driven west coast only car!It will be sold as it is which includes Bilstein Track pack coilovers with 10k miles, Manly Poly motor mounts, Jan speed stage 2 exhaust, black Exige probax seats, black Exige diffusor, JL Audio front and rear speakers, Pioneer MVH-X560 Head unit, Radium quick clam removal kit, GRP mesh kit, black LOTUS lettering for rear clam and more.I recently completed a few services on the car, such as, new Exige clutch, new poly motor mounts, spark plugs, fresh oil change, oil filter change, transmission and diff fluid change, brake fluid flush, coolant flush, new thermostat, new radiator, new exhaust manifold (header to block) gasket, green air filter (plus removed snorkle), replaced full dashboard including all components, new interior carpeting, new HVAC heating and ac module, sanded and polished headlight lens, turn signal seals and much more! All this has been completed in the last 3 month. There are a few small imperfections with the car. Mainly being the front clam in the lip area. Being a street driven car, there is some rash in the front on the underside. The fiberglass needs to be patched and resprayed to look perfect. I recently had the rear clam resprayed and had the reflectors shaved. There are common wear items throughout due to its age, nothing bad. A few scratches on the inside aluminum. Typical wear and tear for a performance car driven on the street. That being said, this car is very well kept and cared for!I am sure I am missing a few things, overall it a clean lotus with a clean title. It is maintained and well kept. Its hard to sell it, it truly is an amazing experience driving one of these, and it sounds amazing for a 2zz with the Jan speed exhaust! Please shoot me a text, email or give me a call with question! I can provide the VIN upon request. I can also provide more pictures if needed. I am available to show the car anytime! It will be parked and stored in the garage until sold. Shoot me an offer, I am open and flexible on price.

Lotus Esprit all but ready to go, but held back by management issues

Mon, 26 Nov 2012

Brief and disappointing is this report from Autocar on the status of the Lotus Esprit: it is finally ready and sitting at the light, but the light might not go green for a long time. The good news is that from being a concept two years ago at the Paris Motor Show, the aluminum and carbon fiber revival coupe is "purportedly almost finished." It is powered by a twin-turbo, 5.0-liter V8 with something like 650 horsepower, boosted by a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and shifting through a seven-speed paddleshift transmission. Even with all that, the UK price is said to be around that of a Porsche 911 4S Cabriolet, and the car only needs "signing off and minor tweaking."
The bad news is that former company owner Proton couldn't stay independent long enough to see through the company's ambitious five-concept-car assault - led by then-CEO Dany Bahar who was hired explicitly to lead such a campaign - and was swallowed up by Malaysian auto supplier DRB-Hicom. For a brief spell Lotus had to shut down production for lack of funds. Then the new owner cleaned house, sweeping out Bahar and, according to the Financial Times just one month ago, the Esprit and every other concept with it. Just after the FT piece came out, Lotus denied the Esprit had been canceled. Still, according to Autocar, the management whirlpool is keeping the Esprit "far from becoming a production reality."
If we're honest with ourselves, we'll keep in mind that the Esprit has been slipping into and out of a terminal ether for what seems like decades. None of us knows what is going on inside Hethel HQ, but the fact that there really is a lightweight, twin-turbo, 650-hp Lotus Esprit finally ready to be produced has to be, in spite of all else, very good news.

Lotus Exige S Roadster coming this summer to a circuit near you

Wed, 01 May 2013

We haven't heard much about the Lotus Exige S Roadster since we first saw it at the Geneva Motor Show last year, but Lotus is now confirming the car will go on sale this summer. Of course, unless anything has changed since the car was introduced, Lotus' "ultimate roadster" will still not be coming to the US.
Lotus has released a new video showing its 345-horsepower roadster in action, and while it doesn't even show that much of the car, you can check out our live images of the Exige S Roadster in our gallery. The video, which looks like a knockoff of a Universal Studios movie trailer, is posted below.

The UK votes for Brexit and it will impact automakers

Fri, Jun 24 2016

It's the first morning after the United Kingdom voted for what's become known as Brexit – that is, to leave the European Union and its tariff-free internal market. Now begins a two-year process in which the UK will have to negotiate with the rest of the EU trading bloc, which is its largest export market, about many things. One of them may be tariffs, and that could severely impact any automaker that builds cars in the UK. This doesn't just mean companies that you think of as British, like Mini and Jaguar. Both of those automakers are owned by foreign companies, incidentally. Mini and Rolls-Royce are owned by BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors of India, and Bentley by the VW Group. Many other automakers produce cars in the UK for sale within that country and also export to the EU. Tariffs could damage the profits of each of these companies, and perhaps cause them to shift manufacturing out of the UK, significantly damaging the country's resurgent manufacturing industry. Autonews Europe dug up some interesting numbers on that last point. Nissan, the country's second-largest auto producer, builds 475k or so cars in the UK but the vast majority are sent abroad. Toyota built 190k cars last year in Britain, of which 75 percent went to the EU and just 10 percent were sold in the country. Investors are skittish at the news. The value of the pound sterling has plummeted by 8 percent as of this writing, at one point yesterday reaching levels not seen since 1985. Shares at Tata Motors, which counts Jaguar and Land Rover as bright jewels in its portfolio, were off by nearly 12 percent according to Autonews Europe. So what happens next? No one's terribly sure, although the feeling seems to be that the jilted EU will impost tariffs of up to 10 percent on UK exports. It's likely that the UK will reciprocate, and thus it'll be more expensive to buy a European-made car in the UK. Both situations will likely negatively affect the country, as both production of new cars and sales to UK consumers will both fall. Evercore Automotive Research figures the combined damage will be roughly $9b in lost profits to automakers, and an as-of-yet unquantified impact on auto production jobs. Perhaps the EU's leaders in Brussels will be in a better mood in two years, and the process won't devolve into a trade war. In the immediate wake of the Brexit vote, though, the mood is grim, the EU leadership is angry, and investors are spooked.
