Lotus: Elise Base Convertible 2-door on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Pampered 2006 Lotus Elise. No stories or funny Georgia title! If youre looking you already know the basic facts about the Elise; under 2,000 lbs, ultra responsive steering, brakes, road feel and grip. Also its not for everyone. That said this low mileage car has the following going for it: Factory optional 7 spoke forged alloy rims (forged and wider than 8 spoke in front), Yokohama Lotus spec tires with 90% tread left, removable hardtop (they go for $1,500+ used if available), optional storm titanium metallic paint, aftermarket Exige scoops and oversize alloy sump. The pic of the Bilstein coilovers (sport spec) in the front wheel well shows the condition of those parts of the car not normally seen. Notice the aluminum is CLEAN and the wheel well liners are perfect. They have been cleaned with Mothers restorer and finish treatment. That is typical of the overall condition of this car. Aluminum belly pan is without scratches or gouges. NOT perfect but very very nice. YES, there are some flaws. 3/4 long repair in drivers seat if you look hard, several imperfections in the paint. One looks like a spot less than 1/4 in diameter. The front is perfect where they normally eat the pavement under the nose. Had it restored when I got it. Comes with two sets of key/alarm fobs. Overall one of the very best of the best year made. The 2006 has the latest throttle by wire, LED lights, various upgrades WITHOUT the Federal crash bumper weight added front and rear of later editions. On request additional pics can be taken. Thanks for looking.

Lotus Exige V6 Cup takes extreme to the extreme
Mon, 14 Jul 2014What separates a road car from a race car? You're looking at it. It's the Lotus Exige V6 Cup, a model based on what is already one of the most hardcore performance machines on the road, albeit upgraded to an even harder-core spec. It's a good 130 pounds lighter than the Exige S (a vehicle which didn't have much flab to trim in the first place) and can hit 60 in under four seconds. With the notably exception of certain versions of the Porsche 911, there aren't a lot of six-cylinder cars that can claim that kind of performance.
In fact, the Exige V6 Cup is so close to race spec that it's already eligible for a number of racing series. Just bolt in the removable FIA-certified roll cage, maybe swap on some slick tires and you're good to go. Then you can drive it home again when you're done, just like in sports car racing's heyday. But don't take our word for it: the team over at XCar took the V6 Cup to the UK's Goodwood circuit to see how it compared to the Exige S it recently drove, and you can view the stirring results in the video below.
Lotus slated to stop selling Evora in US
Mon, 22 Sep 2014It's been three years now since Lotus stopped selling the Elise and Exige in North America, leaving the Evora as its only model available Stateside. But according to the latest from Car and Driver, even that model is on its way out.
The problem reportedly comes down to air bags. Lotus was granted a temporary exemption from fitting the latest-generation smart airbags to the Evora, but that exemption is set to expire at the end of the year. And once it does, Lotus apparently has no intention of developing and fitting the proper equipment to allow it to continue selling the Evora in the United States.
Once the Evora is gone from our market, Lotus will be reduced to selling only track-bound versions of the Elise and Exige in the US, so the prospect of actually buying a new Lotus and driving off the dealer lot will vanish into thin air.
Lotus teases its sleek Type 130 electric hypercar
Tue, Apr 16 2019Lotus has shown a teaser image of a new concept, which will usher in the automaker's electric era. The Type 130 hypercar concept will be shown later this year in London, but this aerodynamic teaser is the first glimpse at its shapely flanks. The Type 130 is said to be in "advanced stages of development." According to Lotus, the Type 130 will spawn a production version, which will be the brand's first all-new vehicle in 11 years. It will be partially bankrolled by Lotus' parent company, the Chinese carmaker Geely, which also owns Volvo. Despite that, the hypercar will not be built in China, but in England. An earlier Autocar article estimated the eventual price at around $2.6 million. Last month, news broke that Lotus is also bringing another new car to market, but that one is likely to retain internal combustion technology along with engineering ties to older Lotus architecture, as it forms a sort of "bridge" between current Lotus products and its future cars. Hence, it can't be called "all-new" in the same sense as a fully electric halo model can. Lotus also noted some of its "firsts" when informing the media of the upcoming concept, which it calls "the world's first full-electric British hypercar." The 1995 Elise was the world's first aluminum and bonded extrusion construction production car, while the 1957 Elite was a production first in the sense that it first brought the composite monocoque within the reach of customers. Between those, there was a lot of groundbreaking F1 knowhow: ground effects for the '77 Type 78 F1 car, carbon fiber for the '81 Type 88, and active suspension in 1983.
