Here is an extremely rare opportunity to own a very special Lotus Elise GT widebody roadster sports car. This incredibly unique supercar is a one-of-a-kind 300hp 'street legal' go-kart on steroids.

A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Originally shipped to the US as a Lotus factory-built race car (one of 24 left hand drive models shipped), it has been retired and professionally modified for 'street-use'. And since it no longer needed to meet the specs of its original race class, it was built to much higher performance specifications and improved cockpit design/comfort. This is NOT your production Elise/Exige with 190hp Toyota power plant, but rather a 1700lb 300hp 6-spd go-kart on steroids, with nearly twice the rubber on the pavement then a production model S2 Elise/Exige.

Translation: This normally aspirated Honda 2.4L iVTEC engine puts out MORE torque/bhp than ANY 'production supercharged' Lotus Elise/Exige ever built (eg. Exige S, S 240 or S 260) and weighs 25% less. It even has more power than the Exige GT3 Prototype Racer (274bhp). Beauty is.... it's all current Honda engine technology, so OEM parts as well as after market parts are inexpensive and easy to find! Want 500hp? Bolt a supercharger to it! Personally, I don't have the balls for it. Maybe you do?

Equally Competitive on the Street-or-Track

For track use, the Elise GT comes with a separate set of Hoosier R6 tires and a 67" adjustable carbon fiber wing that easily installs in minutes. The aerodynamics of this car at track speed is phenomenal. It also features a auto throttle blip system that eliminates the need to heel/toe under heavy braking and a built-in Traqmate GPS Data Logger system.

It is the only one of its kind, so if you want an exotic no one else has, this is it. It could be yours.

Lotus announces Exige V6 Cup racer

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

The Lotus Exige is once of the most focused race cars that you can purchase on the market today, but for those individuals who desire to track the mid-engined racer, Lotus has released its latest no-frills, all-go racecar: the Exige V6 Cup.
The Exige Cup features a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 making 346 horsepower, enabling the 2,380-pound race car to get from zero to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Power is put to the road with the help of Lotus Dynamic Performance Management, which allows for Touring, Sport and Race settings for the engine.
The Exige V6 Cup also features revised aerodynamics in the front fascia and rear diffuser, and it rides on a fully adjustable suspension that reaches the road with special wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires.

Lotus to move immediately forward with new variants rather than new models

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

It took 1.5 years, but a DRB-Hicom managing director told Malaysia's Business Times that the company has "cleaned up" the situation at Lotus from its finances to its marketing and image. The clean-up job we're most interested in, the product portfolio, will be demonstrated by financial investment in a three-year program of "variants based on existing products - variants with improved technology, improved performance."
You'll notice mention of the word "variants" three times but no mention of the phrase "new models." We knew that with the death of the five-new-model turnaround plan dreamed up by ex-Lotus CEO Dany Bahar DRB-Hicom said there'd only be three distinct lines - which is the current number - but during Lotus' trouble-plagued 2012 it sold just 80 cars all year, and for a tense spell it really wasn't clear if DRB-Hicom would commit to even keeping Lotus alive, much less investing in it.
It's not clear how much is being put into in the three-year program of offshoot models like the 345-horsepower Exige S Roadster (pictured), but it might be fair to say this is where Lotus' revival really begins, and does so with baby steps. Autocar reports that DRB-Hicom has already put 100 million pounds into the English carmaker, and as its issues were worked through Lotus has sold almost as many cars in the first five months of this year as it did all of last. That has not only convinced the Malaysian minders to throw more money its way, but the UK's business secretary has also approved a 10-million-pound investment into Lotus through the Regional Growth Facility program.

Lotus team out of Le Mans, full driver list published

Tue, 20 May 2014

We can scratch off one more car from the list for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Lotus T129 LMP1 car has been dropped from the entry list of the 82nd running of the historic race, with organizers citing "a lack of preparation" as the reason. On a more positive note, the list of 168 drivers in 56 vehicles has been officially published for the June 14 race.
Like the Lotus team currently in Formula One, the Lotus T129 uses the iconic British brand's name and colors but is actually built by a separate company. It previously ran a Lola chassis in the LMP2-class (pictured above). The Le Mans organizers claim the car will likely be on display during the 24-hour race, but it won't make it's competition debut until the World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of the Americas in September. The T129 is being replaced by an Oreca 03 chassis with Nissan power in the LMP2 class, entered by Millennium Racing.
The Lotus' retirement came as the teams had to send in the names of the three drivers nominated to race each car. This year there are racers from 26 countries with the most coming from France (39), Britain (29), the US (17) and Italy (15). The latest tally of entries breaks down to 9 LMP1s, 19 LMP2s, 9 LM GTE Pros, 18 LM GTE Ams and the Nissan ZEOD RC as the experimental Garage 56 entry.
