2005 Lotus Elise Ready For Summer on 2040-cars
Painesville, Ohio, United States
2005 Lotus Elise I bought the car 2/27/2012 with 15809 it now has 18532 I had been looking for a Lotus Elise for ever when this one came up locally I jump on it without checking into it I didn’t even know it had a salvage title until my credit union call and told me (my bad) but I was very excited to own a Lotus . I did look at as much as I could when I went to look at it but there were 2 other people there looking at it also that's why I jumped on it. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome car. I believe the car came from Florida and the place I bought it from did the body work There was only fiberglass damage NO chassis damage at all They didn’t do the best job in the world and the front very bottom was not done as you can see in the pictures but I see most Elise’s have the same problem There is a scratch on the driver’s door that looks like they painted over it and one on the back upper trunk area The passenger door window is tinted blue but not driver’s side. (I think that is where it might have had the damage but not sure also the paint on the door is very slightly different very hard to tell) Also inside the Drives door where the hinge there are some scratches or cracks (not sure) but it’s not affecting structure at all and was never painted (see pictures) Don’t get me wrong the car looks great Power windows work great No keys entry (there might be I just didn’t get the opener) The paint it nice and shinny Typical Lotus radio never picks up any stations CD player rocks The leather boot around the shifter is lose at bottom Hardtop is missing the back brackets I don’t know why I just never received them (Lotusgarage.com about $40) I never use the top so never bothered I put new tires on back front ones still have good tread I have changed the oil twice with Royal Purple I don’t know why I did it twice I had big plans Now for the Motor train NEVER a drop of anything under car NEVER loses a drop of anything Car runs and drives GREAT everything is as tight as it was from the factory (only 18000 miles) Front brakes just started squeaking I might change them before auction ends (AutoZone D109 $20.00) No promises My wife and I loved cruising around but we could only last about an hour before we got sore (yeah we’re old and fat LOL I paid $25000 for the car and my reserve is much lower than that I just can’t handle the $600 a month payment anymore The car is not perfect I tried to list everything I know so there are no surprises but on the same note the car drives AWESOME and looks good too Funds will have to be creared before the title and car can be tranfored I still owe the credit union but they have the title on hand Any questions PLEASE ask On May-31-14 at 17:26:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry I just added the rest of the pictures I don't know why they didn't go the first time. And it's actually in Mentor , Ohio 44060 5 minutes away from 44077 (I moved) Also someone asked for a warranty. this is something I can not offer I have described the car the best I can and it does run fantastic. I've only run HIGH TEST gas and its been stored inside never even seen rain since I've had it. Sorry but it's a AS IS auction. |

Lotus Esprit spied wearing mismatched Evora bodywork
Wed, Mar 18 2020The sorta funky looking Lotus Evora you see above isn't really an Evora at all. In fact, it's a mule for an upcoming new Lotus in the spirit of the Esprit, which, rumor has it, will be introduced in the first half of 2021. It may even be called the Esprit, reviving the name of one of the company's most recognizable and well-loved nameplates, though that has yet to be confirmed by the British automaker. Power is expected to come from a Toyota-sourced V6 engine, as is the case with the Evora. But instead of the Evora's 2+2 seating configuration, the reborn Esprit would be a two-seater. While we aren't privy to the automaker's engineering offices, it seems the space vacated by the vestigial rear seating area might be used to hold some battery packs, as the upcoming car is going to be a hybrid. The 2020 Lotus Evora spins 416 horsepower out of its supercharged 3.5-liter V6; the hybridized Esprit is rumored to pack over 500 ponies, buoyed by an electric motor and lithium ion battery pack that's thought to be cribbed from the Volvo parts bin. That makes sense, as Lotus and Volvo both fall under Chinese automaker Geely's umbrella. The Evora offers the choice of six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes, but we'll have to wait and see if those choices are shared with the Esprit. The mule seen above is sporting some mismatched Evora bodywork — seemingly sprayed black in haste, judging by the specks of blue and yellow at the front and rear along with the lone green pop just ahead of the rear wheels — that has been widened with some tacked on wheel arches. The production version is expected to crib styling elements from Lotus' range-topping electric Evija. We can't wait to see how it all turns out. Related Video:
Lotus Evija EV supercar is charging toward series production
Wed, Feb 19 2020It's almost time for Lotus to begin production of real Evijas bound for customers, but first, it must go through its final round of testing. To accomplish this task, Lotus had to prep its brand-new production facility to build the final prototypes. New photos and video give a glimpse of what the Lotus assembly hall looks like. The Evija, which means "the first in existence," is an all-electric supercar that Lotus hopes will be the most powerful production road car ever made. The supercar uses electric motors for four-wheel drive with torque vectoring and has a battery pack rated at 70kWh. Lotus claims it has 1,973 horsepower and 1,254 lb-ft of torque, can go zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds, can do zero to 186 mph in less than nine seconds, and has a top speed of 200 mph. All of that, with a weight of 3,704 pounds. Possibly more impressive are the claimed battery stats. The Evija, which is the first Lotus developed with new majority shareholder Geely, can supposedly fully charge in less than 10 minutes and has a range of 250 miles. With a 350-kW charger, it'll fill up in 18 minutes. Lotus says the Evija has been an extremely collaborative effort, as 20 specialist contractors and 50 experts have been on site for the past six months. They've been hard at work in the new facility, which is located next to the 2.2-mile Hethel circuit in Hethel, in Norfolk, U.K. Check out the new state-of-the-art light tunnel, the vehicle lifts, the gantry crane, and more above and below. NHTSA investigating Lotus Elise for oil leaks
Mon, 25 Jul 2011The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 17 complaints about an errant oil line in the Lotus Elise, and thus, has opened an investigation. The issue concerns the line on the front right cooler, which, having got loose, sprays oil either on the wheel or inside the engine bay.
This investigation pertains to around 4,400 of the little track-day wonders sold in the 2005 and 2006 model years. There have been no injuries, but one car did leave the road and catch on fire. A NHTSA investigation doesn't mean a full recall has been issued, just that your friends in the fed are looking into the matter.
