XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hello, Up for sale is my Lincoln Towncar I have owned this car for about ten years and have done a lot of up keep on it. This is not my only car, I bought this towncar because of the low mileage and it was garaged kept. I no longer have a garage space for it and the weather is beginning to show it's wear. I selling this because I have other "projects" that need to be addressed. I will be selling this with a best offer. This car runs strong, and is in really good cond. 5.0 with less than 76k original miles. I bought this in 2005 and it had just over 63k. on it. In 2005 I replaced all brakes, exhaust, shocks, etc... In 2010 I bought four new tires. In 2013 I bought five Lincoln Continental Spoke rims (never been mounted). This car is nowhere near perfect, it has it's flaws, but all in all this is a great car. Again I'm not in any kind of bind and I don't have to sell it. So when making your offer don't think that you can offer a "low ball offer" and I will accept it, I feel that this is a fair price that I am asking for the car and condition. A small deposit through paypal or in person is required after the sale and full payment in cash only before it leaves my drive. Trades are considered. Why Lincoln says it's loving Ellen and Conan MKC ad spoofs [w/videos]
Mon, 13 Oct 2014You would think that commercial being ridiculed across the Internet would be an advertising executive's worst nightmare, but that's not necessarily the case. At least not when it comes to Lincoln and its latest campaign to promote the new MKC.
The campaign features Matthew McConaughey channeling his characters from True Detective and The Lincoln Lawyer, and was quickly spoofed by both Conan O'Brien and Ellen DeGeneres. But instead of shaking their heads in dismay at the comedy talk-show hosts' take on their ad, Lincoln and its advertising firm Hudson Rouge welcome the free publicity.
"We're flattered. Just to get out into the public mind with parodies says you've achieved a certain amount of notoriety," Hudson Rouge CCO Jon Pearce told Automotive News. "It's hard to put a dollar amount on earned media. We couldn't ask for better."
Conan O'Brien takes McConaughey's Lincoln ad to its logical conclusion
Thu, 11 Sep 2014We all had to see this coming. Conan O'Brien has released a parody of Matthew McConaughey's new ads for the 2015 Lincoln MKC and remixed them with lines from one of his most critically acclaimed recent roles.
The now much darker commercial probably isn't how Lincoln would prefer the MKC to be marketed, but really in a few of the actual ads, McConaughey already seems moments away from breaking into a full Rustin Cohle from True Detective impression. The cadence and tone of his voice are just so close to that character, especially in the one where he's talking to the bull standing in the middle of the road. It very nearly verges on parody anyway; Conan is just turning all of this up to 11.
It's a little surprising that the writers didn't dig a little deeper into the McConaughey oeuvre for the parody. Maybe McConaughey could have taken the MKC for a party at the Moon Tower from Dazed and Confused. In any case, it's worth a quick watch, so check it out.
Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
