Up for the bidding pleasures of Ebay is one(1) 1999 Lincoln Town Car, Signature Series. This was bought back in Mar09 & had 98,000 on it at the time. It now has 179,7xx miles as it is being driven daily. The majority of these miles has come from military, long distance driving..all over NC, Ala, SC, Va several times over & never gave me any major issues. All oil changes & tuneups are up to date. I've loved this car from day one but I bought my wife a Navigator in '11 & now I've caught the SUV bug & want one 4 myself. I hate 2 see it go but whoever gets this will not be disappointed.Anyway, onto what I think you all would like 2 hear.....

The car exterior is gunmetal gray with sum scratches on the driver's side that came from driving next 2 sum bushes in my driveway..nothing major. The quarter panels on both sides show sum fading as to me having the hood repainted back in '11 & from that you can tell the difference. There's a small paint chip on the rear bumper, which was there when i bought it. I never thought 2 getting it fixed bc I kinda liked it.The headlights are in good condition as well as all the chrome & rear lights. I had the windows tinted, never had a problem passing inspection. The tint along with the paint gives it an "executive" look & feel. It has the stock chrome wheels & about 50% tread left on all the tires(wanted to upgrade 2 bigger tires & wheels but wife wouldn't let me). Air compressor & bags are still good with no leaks. The motor is  stock 4.6L with all the power I needed(although I had a notion 2 drop a complete Cobra engine in it just for giggles..lol) Overall, when this thing is clean from top 2 bottom, it is one of the nicest rides in town, not to mention the "presidential status" that follows it.

The exterior is also gray with black woodgrain accents. The only flaw is from the driver side seat being ripped so an upholstery job to that seat would be needed. All the other seats are in great condition. Carpet & floor mats in good condition, but could use another driver floor mat. Cold AC & heat no issues. Power windows, door locks, cruise control all work, no issues. Steering wheels controls all work except the stereo controls bc I replaced the factory radio & speakers & installed my own entertainment center: a Pioneer in dash DVD/CD player, 8" headrest monitors, a MA Audio 500 watt amp pushing mids & highs through 4 three way Power Acoustics 5x7 speakers with tweeters & a Orion HCCA mono block amp pushing about 1200 watts into 2 Power Acoustic 12's in a ported box. One of the 12's I have beat the middle cover off & never got around to replacing it. It still plays with no problems, just cosmectically it looks odd. The sound rates 10 out of 10 & my kids & any passengers love it. I was going to install internet in it but thought 2 save that for the next vehicle/project.

Like I said b4, I hate 2 see this go..too many memories & alot of miles later but it has 2 for BIGGER reasons only. If I could keep this along with getting my next vehicle, this would not be getting posted here. Nevertheless, it's here & whoever wins it will be very much delighted. I have this posted locally so I reserve the right 2 end this early if needed. In any case, I will contact the highest bidder at the time 2 inform them of the situation.
At the moment, I'm only accepting cashier's check, money orders, or cash. Please feel free 2 email me here or for faster responses, text or call me @ 2526247311 if any questions arises.

Ed Welburn leaves a lasting legacy at GM design

Sat, Apr 9 2016

General Motors design chief Ed Welburn retired July 1, and the soft-spoken stylist is leaving a lasting legacy at the automaker and on the industry. He became the first African American to lead design at a carmaker when he took over GM's top spot in 2003. Just six people have overseen the company's design, and Welburn followed in the footsteps of icons like Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell. When Welburn was given expanded global oversight in 2005, it wasn't ceremonial. He helped unite the company's sprawling design empire, and today is in charge of 2,500 people who have a hand in designing GM cars. "He nurtured a creative, inclusive, and customer-focused culture among our designers that has strengthened our global brands," Mary Barra, GM chairman and CEO, said in a statement." Welburn took the helm when GM and the industry were shaking off a general styling malaise that pervaded the 1980s and 1990s. During his 13 years in charge, he took risks, produced a wide range of styles for everything from hybrids to sports cars to big trucks, and leaves GM design in a better place. Welburn's replacement, Michael Simcoe from GM's international design unit, has big shoes to fill. News & Analysis News: Tesla attracted more than 325,000 preorders of the Model 3 in about a week. Analysis: If anything, the Model 3 is more popular than many expected. Elon Musk tweeted that surprising figure on Thursday, and he said just five percent ordered the maximum number of two. That seems to indicate actual owners rather than speculators are fueling the demand. With a starting price of $35,000 before incentives and an electric range of 215 miles, the Model 3 is the Tesla that's attainable for a lot of people. Clearly, that notion is resonating. News: Lincoln has drawn 40,000 hand-raisers for the Continental. Analysis: Okay, that's not a Tesla figure, but it's still an encouraging sign for Lincoln that one of its most famous and historic names still resonates in 2016. It also demonstrates using a real, albeit slightly dusty name, was the right call for the MKS replacement. "No other Lincoln vehicle has generated this much interest in this little time," Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra said in New York last month. The concept that debuted a year ago put Lincoln back on the map, and the production version remains true to that promise. It will stand out on the road when it arrives this fall, and ultimately, that kind of style will determine Lincoln's future.

Woman keying luxury car caught on tape

Thu, Nov 12 2015

Toronto police are on the hunt for a disguised woman who was caught on camera Sunday keying a car. The woman sported a red bandana over her face and baseball cap as she ran up to the Lincoln MKS in a driveway, the Toronto Star reported. She then went to town with a sharp object, gleefully scratching the car's paint job. She runs off after nearly a minute of enthusiastic damage. Police believe the victim and the vandal know each other, since the Lincoln is the only car in the neighborhood she hit. This is also the third time this particular car has been damaged. They suspect this woman is responsible for the previous incidents. Toronto police told the Star that it will likely cost Lincoln owner thousands to have his car repaired. Security cameras are great for catching vandals in the act, though the videos are difficult for any car enthusiast to watch. Take for instance this video from London in April of a man scratching an Aston Martin while pushing a baby stroller. News Source: The Toronto Star Lincoln Videos vandalism scratch

Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years.
