1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive Limousine 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States
I’m currently serving in the US Army. Few months ago I decided to get out with a plan of opening my own business- a limo service. I bought this car from a car dealer who bought on auction from an insurance company. The limo was involved in a car accident. The previous owner claimed a total loss on this car to get his insurance money. After I bought it I sent it to a professional body work shop to fix it. They replaced a front bumper, grille, passanger side front bumper and the front lights. The driver side fender was fixed. The engine was not damaged at all. Even the radiator stayed original. The windshield is cracked and will have to be replaced (since I decided to stay in the Army for couple more years I didn’t want to invest any more money in it. You could probably claim it on your insurance) One of the alternator’s pulley make noise sometimes (especially right after you start the car) so this issue will have to be addressed. Car runs and drives very well although I didn’t drive it for more than 50 miles. Considering the age of this car the mileage on it is very low. In scale from 1 to 5 I’ll give the body- 4, interior-4, leather top cover-5, suspension-4, engine and tranny-5. AC blows cold. The leather seats are in very good condition considering the age. Some of the wood trim inside should be refurbished. The tires will make another few thousand miles but could be replaced in the near future. All the lights work. There is a missing trim above the RR wheel (see the picture). The car was not abused and overall is pretty clean. Some cosmetic issues, typical for this age. Couple of minor scratches (see the pictures). The car is registered and insured. I have a title and it’s a North Caroline salvage rebuilt title. There is no reserve on this auction but the limo is advertised locally as well, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any point of time. The car will be sold as is. It will make a great buy for someone who wants to start a limo service without investing a big money into it. I will sell it internationally but the potential buyer will cover all costs associated with shipping it abroad. If you want to inspect it physically just let me know and we will arrange the meeting. The cost of shipping the car to another State will be covered by the buyer. Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions about the condition of this car. I will answer them all to the best of my knowledge. Good luck. |

Bentley designer calls Lincoln Continental concept a Flying Spur 'copy' [w/poll]
Tue, Mar 31 2015When you first laid eyes on the new Lincoln Continental concept, we'd wager you were likely impressed, because it's an impressive design. But if you also thought it looked familiar, you're in good company. According to Car Design News, design chief Luc Donckerwolke over at Bentley thinks the Lincoln concept bears more than a passing resemblance to another Continental: Bentley's own Flying Spur. "This behavior is not respectable. Building a copy like this is giving a bad name to the car design world," Donckerwolke told CDN, after posting some disparaging comments on Facebook and offering in jest to send over the tooling. "It is very disappointing, especially for an exclusive brand like Lincoln," added Sangyup Lee, his deputy for exterior design. The irony is further entrenched by the name, which Bentley only dropped from its Flying Spur in its latest iteration but still uses for the coupe and convertible models. Both automakers have a deeply routed history with the nameplate, but Lincoln's stretches back further, having first used the handle in 1939 before Bentley did in 1952. However it's not the nameplate that's the subject of controversy here, rather the design of the vehicle to which it's applied. So what do you think, did Lincoln borrow too heavily from its British counterpart? Related Video:
Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models
Thu, Mar 2 2017The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Weekly Recap: Revisting the BBC report that ended Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear run
Sat, Mar 28 2015Jeremy Clarkson's long run as a Top Gear host has come to an end, and the reason is clear: His physical assault on one of the show's producers crossed a line, and the government-owned BBC couldn't tolerate it. The incident between Clarkson and Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon was initially described as a "fracas," and Clarkson was suspended. But his popularity and widespread support – even British Prime Minister David Cameron weighed in – suggested that the controversial Clarkson might be given yet another chance. The BBC put this to rest Wednesday when it sacked Clarkson and revealed the findings of its investigation. The report spelled out how Clarkson struck Tymon on the patio of a North Yorkshire (UK) hotel, leaving him with a bloodied, swollen lip. It was severe enough that the producer sought medical treatment. During and after the attack, Clarkson shouted expletives at Tymon and threatened to fire him. The noise carried into the hotel's dining room and even to a bedroom. Local police investigated the incident, but Tymon isn't pressing charges. The huge audience numbers, Clarkson's popularity and the high-octane excitement of Top Gear all melted away in the eyes of BBC director-general Tony Hall, who saw an attacker and a victim. "For me a line has been crossed," he said in a statement. "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations." In that moment, Clarkson was the bad guy, though he was actually the one who reported it to the network and made repeated attempts to apologize to Tymon. He's also urged the media to leave the producer alone. Hall voiced regret in the statement that announced Clarkson's contract would not be renewed, but the BBC decided to move on. Rumors are swirling about possible replacements for Clarkson. The network says it wants to continue Top Gear in 2016 and is looking to air the rest of this season's episodes. Despite the controversy, the show has a global audience of 350 million viewers and is one of the BBC's most valuable properties. It's unclear what Clarkson's co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, will do, as their contracts were also reportedly up to be renewed.
