2016 Lincoln MKX packs plenty of power, MKC-inspired looks

Following on the heels of Ford's unveiling of its new Edge a few months back, Lincoln officially introduced the new MKX counterpart on Tuesday at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Unlike its Ford counterpart, the MKX does away with any notion of a four-cylinder, opting for the buyer's choice of a pair of V6 engines. At its base is FoMoCo's familiar 3.7-liter V6, generating a projected 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, although the real exciting powertrain news focuses on Lincoln's optional engine. Like the Edge, the top-end engine is a 2.7-liter, EcoBoost V6 that promises "more than" 330 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. We'd love to tell you about the performance impact this new engine has on the MKX, but as Lincoln probably hasn't published a 0-60 time since 1967, that simply isn't possible. Suffice it to say, we expect the most potent engine should offer pretty brisk acceleration. Aside from the power increase provided by the MKX's new engine lineup, Lincoln has thoroughly refitted the crossover's exterior, using its handsome MKC kid brother as its inspiration. It's a good look, to be honest, allowing the new CUV to maintain its styling edge over its Blue Ovaled platform mate. Woman keying luxury car caught on tape

Toronto police are on the hunt for a disguised woman who was caught on camera Sunday keying a car. The woman sported a red bandana over her face and baseball cap as she ran up to the Lincoln MKS in a driveway, the Toronto Star reported. She then went to town with a sharp object, gleefully scratching the car's paint job. She runs off after nearly a minute of enthusiastic damage. Police believe the victim and the vandal know each other, since the Lincoln is the only car in the neighborhood she hit. This is also the third time this particular car has been damaged. They suspect this woman is responsible for the previous incidents. Toronto police told the Star that it will likely cost Lincoln owner thousands to have his car repaired. Security cameras are great for catching vandals in the act, though the videos are difficult for any car enthusiast to watch. Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles

Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.
