This 1981 Town coupe is a very nice car! In the three years I have owned the car, I have only driven it some 1400 miles. It spends all of its time under a cover in the garage, and is started and run regularly. I purchased the car with intentions of building a lowrider; but when it was delivered, I knew I just couldn't do it. The triple burgundy Color scheme presents very well. The paint is original, and shows normal wear for it's age. The vinyl 1/2 top was replaced late in 2010. The interior is original; and I have added custom carpet mats (with Lincoln logo embroidered). The stereo works; the A/C blows cold (Recently charged with R12). All of the power accessories operate as they should. The car has just 52K miles; runs and drives well.
Here's everything I have done to the car since 2010:
New tires (Firestone FR 380 Radials)
New Brake master cylinder, Complete front brakes (pads, rotors, hardware, hoses, wheel bearings), rear brakes
New Gas shocks Front & Rear
Rear wheel bearings And upgrade to full synthetic fluid
New NOS power antenna
New vinyl roof
Upgrade to K&N air filter
Tune up: Plugs, wires, cap, Rotor, Oil change to full synthetic W/ motorcraft filter, fuel filter
New ignition system: Duraspark box, coil, crankshaft sensor, EEC Power relay, fuel pump bypass relay, Battery
Fan Clutch
Like I said previously; The car presents very well; and has done well out at events. In May 2011 the car won "best in class" at the A.A.C.A. Regionals here in Huntsville Alabama, and made the trip to the LCOC nationals last year (2012) in Chattanooga, Tn. The car ran very well out on the highway, in extreme heat, and got just shy of 20 MPG over the 250 mile trip. Since then my health has not been it's best; so I haven't had the car out at many events since. If you know these cars; you already know that this generation town coupe was the LAST of the big coupes; and were very low production output as well; unlike the Mk VI of the same era. The best production output I could research was a total of 2976 of these produced in 1981. Shipping the car will be the Buyer's responsibility, if close enough; I may consider delivering the car to you. I really haten to let this car go; as it has been my baby for several years. If you have any questions, you can feel free to call me at 256-714-3464 and I will do my best to answer any other questions you might have. Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding...........Matt

Lincoln poised to double MKZ Hybrid production
Thu, 18 Jul 2013The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has been something of a hit for Ford since the beginning, exceeding the company's modest projected 15-percent take rate for more than two years (we say "modest" because that still means an overwhelming majority of Lincoln customers are passing up on the gas-electric powertrain even though it costs the same as the standard model). Either way, Lincoln builds 700 MKZ Hybrids at its plant in Mexico each month, but has sold 715 of them in each of the past three months. That's why, according to a report in The Detroit News, when the restyled 2014 MKZ Hybrid arrives (non-hybrid pictured), Ford is doubling production compared to 2013. Instead of the hybrid model being 20 percent of production, the new hybrid will make up 40 percent.
Ford is doing well with hybrids in general - its portion of the electrified vehicle segment jumping 12 points in a single year to 16 percent. Assuming Ford doesn't change the pricing strategy (along with the changes Ford is making to calibration to improve fuel economy), the sedan could continue to "[show] other luxury hybrids how it's done" when it goes on sale later this year.
Ford recalling 830,000 vehicles to replace side door latches
Thu, Aug 4 2016The Basics: Ford is conducting a recall for roughly 830,000 models. The affected vehicles include the 2013 to 2015 Ford C-Max, 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape, 2015 Lincoln MKC, 2015 Ford Mustang, and 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The recall is focused primarily in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Georgia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Washington, and Oregon as the problem mostly affects cars in states with warm weather. The Problem: The pawl spring tab in the side door latch in the affected vehicles could break, preventing the door from latching and could even cause the door to open while driving. Injuries/Deaths: There is one reported injury and one reported accident. The Fix: Dealers will replace the affected cars' side door latches. If you own one: Reach out to your local Ford dealer to schedule a service. 2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven
Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
