This is a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC. And if you know about the Mark VIII's they had power everything, including power tilt steering. This is the last of the Mark VIII's, I currently drive this car to work at a Ford Dealership. I am a mechanic there and have checked the car over. It is in good condition when I bought it I replaced the belt, idler pulley and the front and rear rotors and brake pads. It has a small shallow dent in the fender I took a picture of it. The tires are in great condition with less than 5,000 miles on them. The car has been inspected for leaks and has none. The only thing I know that doesn't work is the CD changer. Over all this car is in great condition and like I said before I drive this car to work everyday and if someone wants to come and look or test drive it will have to been after work or on the weekends. Lincoln video teases new things to come... but what?
Sun, 02 Dec 2012Lincoln has released a new video teasing... something. In what looks to be an advertisement for more advertising, the company has worked up a clip featuring everything from a drum solo and a flying hawk to Abraham Lincoln himself. The video shows a few shots of what looks to be an MKZ and promises more news is coming on Monday.
What does the company have up its sleeves? Rumors are bouncing around the web like so many ill-informed ping-pong balls, and cover everything from an alternative powertrain for the MKZ to a new two-door model - noise that is underscored by the presence of a Ford Mustang chassis lurking in the background of the video around the 27-second mark (see screen capture above).
Could Lincoln be considering a rear-wheel drive luxury coupe built on the pony's bones? A move like that seems awfully unlikely, but it certainly wouldn't hurt our feelings. Either way, we'll find out more tomorrow. In the interim, check out the teaser video below for yourself.
Lincoln to adopt Mini-like personalization strategy?
Fri, 18 Jan 2013There's no single silver bullet that will cure all that ails the Lincoln brand, and Ford knows that just as surely as we do. Coming out with exciting new models like the well-received MKC crossover counts as several steps in the right direction, assuming of course that the production version is as appealing as the concept just shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but more is needed. According to Jim Farley, executive vice president of Lincoln, one more trick may be "mass customization."
Put another way, Lincoln is considering ways to allow buyers to customize their new vehicles right off the showroom floor, similar to how things are done at Mini, and, to a lesser extent, Scion, where Farley previously served as corporate manager. Imagine, for instance, ordering a new MKC with a large Lincoln insignia embossed into the leather seatbacks, according to Automotive News.
While we're not so sure anybody is all that interested in paying extra for more Lincoln logos, it's a strategy that has proven rather fruitful at Mini. Only time will tell if Ford's erstwhile luxury division will once again be seen as something truly worth reaching for, and if customers are willing to pay a further premium for customization.
