1997 Lincoln Mark Viii Base Sedan 2-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Willowbrook, Illinois, United States
For sale is a 1997 Lincoln Mark Viii base model. It has a 4.6L V8, RWD.
Oil was changed every 2000 miles with ford synthetic blend oil. Coils
and plugs were replaced at 100K. The airbag suspension on the car
works. The front passenger side airbag suspension was replaced less
than a year ago. The car has Michelin Hydroedge tires on it. They are
80,000 mile tires that were put on at about 100K. The car runs and
drives fine, but has not been used much in the last 6 months so the idle
is rough to begin, but is gone when driving.
The car does have some body issues. There is a dent from a shopping cart behind the passenger side door. There are a few dings on the passenger door as well. The drivers side door has a ding on it as well. The moonroof is no longer functional, however it is closed and has not been rained in. There is an issue with the radio at times (it will give static). The drivers side door lock only works with the key, and the passenger side door handle is broken and needs to be replaced. The latch for the hood inside the car is broken (wire snapped), that is why the hood is left open in the pictures. It does open and stay closed (you must pull the wire from the bottom side of the grill). There is some surface rust under the doors (rust inhibitor has been applied to it several times to prevent) The xenon headlights do work without any issues! Good first car, or just looking for a car to get you around. It is still a head turner with few out there. Please ask questions! |

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
Feds Probe Power Steering In 938,000 Ford Midsize Cars
Mon, Oct 6 2014U.S. safety regulators are investigating complaints that the power-assisted steering can suddenly fail on three Ford midsize car models. The probe covers 938,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received 508 complaints alleging that the cars lost power-assisted steering, causing increased steering effort. Four complaints say the problem caused crashes, but no injuries were reported. The agency says in documents posted Monday on its website that in many cases, a warning message appeared as the failure happened. Restarting the car corrected the problem in some cases, but the problem returned in others. The agency says it will check the scope and frequency of a problem. It could seek a recall. Ford says it's cooperating with the probe. Shares of Ford Motor Co. rose 6 cents to $14.65 in morning trading Monday. Its shares are down 14 percent over the past year. 2015 Lincoln MKC aims to rejuvenate the brand... again
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Ford is slowly but surely attempting to revitalize the Lincoln brand, with the new MKZ sedan pointing the way forward for the Blue Oval's struggling luxury division. Here at the LA Auto Show, Lincoln is showing the next new product that aims to give the brand new life, the 2015 MKC crossover.
The MKC is based on the trusty Ford Escape, but this is far more than just a rebadge job. Lincoln has used completely new sheetmetal here, with the brand's familiar split-wing grille front and center, and a classy, wraparound tailgate with super slim taillamps that span the width of the hatchback. It's one of the better applications of Lincoln's new design language we've seen thus far, and the end result is a taut-looking crossover that is at the same time both modern and luxurious-looking.
Further differentiating itself from the Escape, the MKC packs an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, good for 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. (On the base end, Ford's 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft is available.) The MKC also uses a new Continuously Controlled Damping adaptive suspension, and is available with both front- and all-wheel drive.
