1981 Lincoln Continental Mark VI Givenchy (Designer Series)

2-Door Sedan with very low mileage for its year (91,000). Mostly highway miles have been put on this car because it is comfortable and great for road trips. In original decent condition, inside and out. Garaged most of its life, never in an accident, and never smoked in. Exterior is 2 tone black and pewter with light gray leather interior. Features include power windows, dual power/adjustable seats, rear bench seat, cruise control, AM/FM stereo, cassette/4-channel 8-track player, electronic dash with trip computer, onboard diagnostics, and factory Ford CB. Automatic overdrive transmission and fuel injection.

This car runs wonderful, very dependable. Tight engine and smooth transmission. No noises, no knocking, does not burn any oil, etc. A/C blows ICE cold, heat is nice and toasty. Fires right up on the first crank.

I purchased the car from the original owners son. Never in any accidents. Clear title in hand.

The car was lightly hit two weeks ago and the taillight assembly was damaged. The only dent is quite minor (detail in pictures). The car will be sold with a used replacement tail light assembly I bought for it.

At this price, you are getting an excellent deal!

Pros:
Brand new tires (Falken with warranty)
New exhaust system
New ignition components
Just changed the transmission fluid

Issues:
One leaking valve cover gasket
Needs new trunk lid shocks
Original paint (paint loss from being buffed so much)
Front seats need to be recovered
Fuel gauge is inaccurate / off
Driver seat switch works intermittently
Driver power window goes down half way

The vehicle is being sold in "as is" condition.  Buyer to pay all taxes, fees and transportation costs.

A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is due through PayPal within 48 hours of close of auction.  The remainder of the balance is due within 7 days of close of auction.  Arrangements for pick up of the car must be made within 10 days of the auction close date. I am more than happy to accommodate (within reason) your shipper or yourself to transport the car.

Annie Leibovitz goes Continental for Lincoln campaign

Mon, Oct 10 2016

Lincoln has a lot riding on the new Continental, and the company is now calling upon renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz to glam-up its new flagship. Her photos are part of a new series dubbed "That's Continental," which the automaker will use in high-end publications and on social media. Leibovitz's iconic photos have been used in magazines like Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, and she's photographed celebrities, politicians, literary icons, and landmark events. The new series for the Continental is Leibovitz's first attempt at car photography and it follows a road trip theme inspired by the trips she took with her father as a child. The photos for the campaign were shot in New York City with a group of non-professional models, including a musician, an artist, an actor, and a film director and his dog, Seven. "Annie Leibovitz is a photographer of substance," said Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra. "The rich, warm emotions her photos evoke, mirror the feelings we want our clients to experience on all of their journeys in the new Lincoln Continental." While we're still arguing over the Continental's looks, Leibovitz's pictures show the sedan at its best. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Lincoln's first shipment of cars arrives in China

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

It has been two years since Lincoln first announced its plans to expand into China, and the first models destined for sale in the giant automotive market just came off the boat in Shanghai on September 10. It's going to be a few weeks before Chinese buyers actually have the chance to get behind the wheel, though.
The first two models being offered to China are the MKZ and MKC, as seen arriving in these photos, and they are going to be sold at dealers that look more like hotels than traditional showrooms. The first four are opening in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou in October, with a grand unveiling of the new brand to Chinese consumers later that month. By the end of the year, Lincoln wants to have eight dealers operating in seven cities. By 2016, the automaker wants to have a lineup of five models available in the People's Republic.
"This is the culmination of months of teamwork and collaboration both in North America and here in China," said Robert Parker, President of Lincoln China, in the company's release.

Living Life Large: Driving $2 million worth of cars in one week

Mon, Aug 24 2015

Monterey Car Week has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year. There's something for everyone – classic car shows, modern concepts and new vehicle debuts, auctions, racing, and so much more. From a media perspective, there's also a chance to drive a ton of cars. Many automakers bring their latest wares out to Monterey for us to test during our limited free time, and it's a great opportunity to experience fantastic metal against a gorgeous backdrop. That's exactly what I did this year. Instead of flying into Monterey and being driven around, my journey started in Los Angeles and ended in Napa, and I managed to get behind the wheel of some $2 million worth of new cars. Some were old favorites, and many were new experiences. But looking back, this was one of the best weeks of driving I've had in years. Rather than try to come up with some common arc to tie these cars together, here are my notes on all the cars I tested in California earlier this month, presented in the order in which they were driven. 2016 Mazda CX-3 The CX-3 pictured here isn't the exact one I drove in California, but it's close. The only difference was color – my delivered-to-LAX tester wore Mazda's awesome new Ceramic hue (pictured below on the MX-5 Miata). I used the CX-3 to slum through crummy Los Angeles traffic for two hours on the way out to Santa Barbara, with a quick stop at In-N-Out Burger on the way for good measure. A lot nicer inside than I remember. Everyone praises Mazda for its excellence in engineering and design, but there's a lot to be said for the improvements in overall interior refinement. Quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped; the CX-3 made sitting on the 405 freeway a lot more pleasant. Not all that functional. I had a hard time fitting a week's worth of luggage for two people inside. The cargo area and rear passenger compartment were filled, with only enough room on top to see out the back window. A Honda HR-V would've swallowed all that luggage with plenty of room for more. So good to drive. Not surprising, since this wasn't my first time in the CX-3. I knew this CUV would be good on twisty roads, but on the highway it's really exceptional. Road and wind noise are minimal and the overall ride quality is a comfortable sort of sporty. This is definitely something I could drive every day – it's enjoyable during commuting and entertaining on more interesting roads.
