1977 Lincoln
Mark V Bill Blass This is a
one of a kind automobile. Only 5,905
Mark V’s were Bill Blass editions in 1977, and this is the only one optioned like
this one. This car has 24,231 miles. The 460 engine runs great. This car is as close to being perfect as a
car of this age and mileage can be, having won the Primary Class at the 2010
LCOC Mid-America meet, including a Lincoln Trophy, with a score of 98.5 points
out of 100. Outstanding
color combinations for the Bill Blass editions in 1977 were Midnight Blue
Metallic exterior, with a chamois color vinyl half top, with chamois color
leather interior. Under the hood and on
the chassis, factory chalk marks are still plainly visible. Two of its three owners have been private
collectors, so it has been pampered. The
current owner since 2009 has kept the appearance and mechanicals in top
condition. Due to their
age, the current owner replaced the original tires at 21,000 miles in 2009, as
well as all hoses and belts. The unused
original spare is in the trunk. All
electrical components of the car are in working order, and the air conditioning
blows cold. The current
owner is an elderly gentleman who is downsizing his collection. If you are looking for an investment grade
show-worthy collector vehicle, this Mark V Bill Blass is one well worth a look. Contact the owner at 409-771-0333. The buy-it-now price of this car is well below
the Hagerty Price Guide’s suggested value for a condition #1 1977 Mark V
Collector’s series. The car is also
being advertised in national magazines, so may be subject to prior sale. Inspections are invited. |

Lincoln putting perfume on its sales
Mon, 18 Aug 2014Lincoln has a scent. But unlike those from Mustang, Lamborghini or even Shark by Tara, you can't buy it and you have to visit a Lincoln dealership to inhale its notes of jasmine hedione, mate tea leaves and tonka beans. Essence of Lincoln - that's what it's called - is being piped through the ventilation systems at some showrooms to help "create an emotional connection between the luxury brand and its customers," and olfactorily promote the idea of "luxury and warmth." Where it's not run through the ducts, visitors can sample it on scent cards.
Master perfumer Rene Morgenthaler worked with aroma house SensoryMax to design Essence of Lincoln. Also including traces of Earl Grey bergamot and green tea, whenever you encounter it you're meant to enjoy "a feeling of belonging to an exclusive, forward-thinking group that values style and success." And then buy an MKC. There's a press release below with details and an image to explain more, if you're still having a little trouble smelling the orange blossoms.
2017 Lincoln Continental spied inside and out
Thu, Jul 9 2015Lincoln certainly made us stand up and take notice when it unveiled the Continental concept at the New York Auto Show this past March. Showcars, however, are only worth so much if they never reach production. But as these latest spy shots indicate, Ford's luxury division is hard at work taking the new Conti from show floor to showroom. The team from Dearborn has clearly gone to great lengths to disguise this prototype, wrapping it in a new type of camouflage with trompe l'oeil bulbous-looking shapes to keep us from seeing just how close the production version will keep to (or how far it may stray from) the concept's design. Our spy photographers did, however, manage to snap some shots of the inside through the side glass, and though it's still evidently some ways off from reaching production, some key details give us an idea of what to expect. Look closely and you can make out the buttons for the transmission running down the side of the infotainment screen, just like on other new Lincolns. The chromework appears to have been toned down some from the blinged-out dashboard of the showcar, but it may be too early to say how much shine there will be to the production model. The overall design of the center console looks pretty darn close to the version we saw in New York, though. The Continental is expected to replace the MKS, as Lincoln moves away from alphabetical nomenclature back towards actual nameplates. Assembly is slated to be undertaken in Flat Rock, MI. There are a great many more details yet to be uncovered, but as far as early indications go, it looks like Lincoln is well on its way to making its concept a reality. Related Video:
Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
