1958 58 Lincoln Continental Mark Iii Convertible Not A Cadillac on 2040-cars
Beloit, Wisconsin, United States
I have owned this California Nevada rust free car since 1988, has old Nevada title, always dry storage. All the work done in the pictures is four years old or less, all the upholstery and all the restoration parts such as weatherstrip were purchased within the last four years also, Everything is fresh! The car is complete with lots of extra parts included, it is missing the hood ornament, a two hundred dollar replacement, plater lost it. I'm selling this car because I need the funds to finish other cars also nearing completion. Obviously this car is selling at a loss, basically you would be paying for the work done as seen in the photos, the car itself and all the parts I bought new and used would be free. The asking price is about fifty cents on the dollar.
The car comes with. New base coat clear coat bare metal respray. New rebuilt .30 over engine, rebuilt trans, new motor and trans mounts, recored radiator, new glass (not windshield and back glass, both are good). New weatherstrip, new leather upholstery with completely redone and cleaned seat frames and springs, all new interior vinyl panels ready to install. New black convertible top and pads (not installed), new carpet and padding, new trunk lining kit, new sill plates. All new suspension (installed) including, ball joints and tie rods, new coil springs front and rear, all new bushings front and rear. All new brake parts (not installed) including, shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware kits, hoses, rebuilt booster and master, all drums original and in excellent condition. All the stainless was polished and repaired as needed, included is NOS rocker stainless trim in nos wrap (not on car). 99% of the chrome has been replated, a few parts were lost and I bought replacements, these are the trim pieces that mount to the trunk lid. These good parts need plating. Convertible frame and rear window assembly are installed in car. More Installed new parts include, all new hydraulics for the top, pump, hoses and lift cylinders. All new window motors. Also included are four beautiful restored Continental hub caps(look new), standard Continental caps as seen in period advertising. Besides the obvious assembly .Things that need to be done. Recover dash soft trim, restore steering wheel, paint and install dash (includes new gauge cluster lens), refurbish rust free gas tank. rebuild starter motor and generator or just clean and use. Rebuild carburetor, power antenna needs rebuild, includes two very good grills, one a little better than the other, it needs to be polished . All the removed parts are in marked boxes and bags. I'm a pretty organised guy so there shouldn't be any significant problems with missing parts. Overall I think I covered it, but it's hard to remember everything. Have a question just ask, need more pictures, no problem. I would estimate that a serious experienced car guy could have this car done this summer. Good flip for the right person. I would encourage serious buyers to come and see the car before you buy it. I will consider CLOSE offers, but please, don't waste my time with low balls, I will not respond. $2000 dollar cashiers check deposit, wire transfer the balance before car is released. This 58 Continental is sold as is, where is. Buyer responsible for all shipping charges. email me at atrip3@yahoo.com |

2017 Lincoln Continental reimagined as a coupe
Thu, Jan 21 2016If nothing else, the production version of the Lincoln Continental has provided ample water-cooler fodder around the office. There are a few camps: the "it took guts to build it" folks giving credit where due on a handsome design with an ambitious interior, and the "MKZ misstep" group haranguing the Motor Company for blowing fancy new styling cues on a lesser beast. And yet, unifying forces exist. We can all agree that these artist renders depicting a Continental sans a pair of doors present a captivating notion. Back in 1939, the original Continental was a two-door. Over time, four doors of various types, including convertibles, infiltrated the lineup. The last time the Continental was on sale, it was a four-door front-driver based on the platform shared with the Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus. Even though the new production Continental, like that penultimate one, is based on a front-drive platform, the execution is much different. As you probably already know, it features a so-far unique 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 and an advanced torque-vectoring AWD system, standard. Some neat concept car touches, like the fancy door handles and patented 30-way adjustable seats, made it in. What a two-door would bring to the table is mainly stylistic, emphasizing the long parallel character line in the door with brightwork running under the window that's echoed in the lower door sculpting and chrome strip. It accentuates the car's length, and calls attention to the trim taillights and their interconnecting bar element. A longer door makes for a more elegant transition into the C-pillar. It makes the production Continental, with its blacked-out but still obviously chunky B-pillar, look fussy. We don't expect Lincoln to build a coupe – that may be too wild for a company that doesn't seem completely comfortable with the notion of reinvention – but these renders were just too good not to share. Is Lincoln MKC cutting into Cadillac SRX sales?
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The two big American luxury brands of Cadillac and Lincoln are on surprisingly similar paths at the moment with both divisions hoping to redefine themselves and grow popularity. They're still early in the process with no clear winner yet, but things might actually be looking up for Lincoln's latest model, according to a monthly sales analysis from The Motley Fool. It seems, at least early on, that the new MKC crossover might be taking a bite out of the Cadillac SRX's growth.
The MKC launched just a few months ago and has been getting a big marketing push from a series of oft-mocked ads starring the smooth-talking Matthew McConaughey. The luxury CUV has been the popular, new kid on the block with growing sales since its introduction. While smaller than the SRX, the Lincoln starts at a lower price and offers better fuel economy.
Through June, the SRX performed well with sales up over 20 percent on average through June, according to The Motley Fool. However, July and August saw things plummet with year-over-year drops of 7 percent and 37 percent, respectively. It still far outsold the MKC in terms of actual units in a given month, but the Caddy's continued growth has appeared to stagnate.
Lincoln MKC crossover headed for Detroit
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Fresh off the launch of the stylish new MKZ sedan, the newly named Lincoln Motor Company is reportedly preparing for a lineup expansion. According to TheDetroitBureau.com, the first new product joining the Lincoln brand is a small crossover based on the Ford Escape said to be called the MKC. We saw this machine testing a few months ago, and while we were hoping the name might be reserved for a future two-door model or even the diminutive Concept C hatchback, it looks like the "C" will stand for compact crossover instead.
The report also says that this crossover will be making its debut next month at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, so we'll have to wait until then to see what the new model looks like. Unlike the MKX, which is based off the Ford Edge, we would expect there to be a lot more differentiation between the MKC and the Escape like Ford managed to do with the newest Fusion and MKZ.
In addition to the new MKC, the article states new MKS and Navigator designs are expected to debut by 2014.
