Nice, clean 2002 Lincoln LS 3.9 L V8.  NEEDS FUEL PUMP.  LOW RESERVE!  Top of the line sports model.  Every option.  Power moonroof, power everything, dual zone A/C, 6 disc CD changer, 17" wheels.  I bought this car about a year ago from a dealer in Grand Prairie, TX.  I was commuting back and forth to Livingston, TX weekly.  During one of the trips, the thermostat housing blew.  I had it towed back home to Livingston, and found that it was not unusual for this model.  The part appears to be metal, but it is plastic.  As suggested on the internet, I replaced it with the aluminum Jaguar part (same engine in Jaguar 4.0 and Thunderbird).  After replacing the part, I test drove the car to town (2 miles) and found that the OTHER cooling tube had a crack in it as well.  This is a pressurized system, so that had to be replaced also (it has been replaced).  I ordered the part, but then had to leave the country for 6 months.  When I returned, the car would turn over, but not start.  I tried starting fluid and it started right up but would not stay running.  I started process of elimination.  I checked out the fuses (fuel pump fuse was blown).  I replaced the fuse, and it did not blow again, but still no go.  I swapped out all the relays and diodes that handle the fuel pump. No go.  Then I replaced the fuel filter.  At that time I tested for fuel and verified that no fuel was getting to the engine.  Someone came and checked the computer codes, and it said bad fuel pump driver control module. On this car, the DCM is located inside the rear electronics module, so I replaced that also.  No go.  I verified that power was getting to the fuel pump connector, so I finally pulled the fuel pump.  The fuel lines did not come out as they were supposed to, so I had to cut them.  I had located a fuel pump at a wrecking yard in Lufkin, but when it was pulled, it was badly rusted and unusable.  I have since purchased a new fuel pump (only), but it has not been installed and the cartridge that the pump fits into may need to be replaced, or parts of the two I have combined into one.  So as it stands right now, the fuel pump is out of the car, I have an EXTRA rear electronic module, two fuel pumps in various states of disrepair plus a new pump.  I purchased a second set of fuel lines and have snaked them into position, but they kinked at various times during the install and may need to be replaced again also. The car also has two new front tires.  The fuel pumps (there are two) are easily accessible under the rear seat.  I don't have the time or money to continue with this saga at the moment.  I've done most of the work, and have well over $5,000 in the car, but the high bidder can bring a car trailer and can get it out of here.  Clean title in my name.  Inspection sticker expired the end of February, tags are good through the end of April.  161,000 miles.  Feel free to request additional pictures of any part of the vehicle.  There are a few door dings, some cracking of the drivers seat, a scrape to the area around the rear left tail light (which was replaced), and a few evidences of smokers in the car.  I have the original manuals for the car, and it appears to have had only one or two owners.  See the vehicle history report for verification.  I work 12 hour days and just don't have time for this.  Come and get it!  Good Bidding!  $500 deposit due within 24 hours of winning the auction, and full payment due within 7 days at time of pickup.  VEHICLE SOLD AS-IS.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, ASK THEM BEFORE BIDDING!

Ford issues recalls for Fiesta, Fusion, E-Series, and Lincoln MKZ

Wed, Mar 25 2020

Ford has issued two new safety recalls for North America. The first covers certain 2014-15 Ford Fiestas, 2014-16 Ford Fusions, and 2014-16 Lincoln MKZs with doors that might not close properly. The second pertains to 2021 Ford E-Series stripped chassis and cutaway vehicles with a wiring harness that might chaffe and expose important wiring.    Ford is recalling 268,343 Fiesta hatchbacks, Fusion sedans, and MKZ sedans across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 248,912 of the affected vehicles located in the U.S. The recall says the "latch pawl spring-tab design" could crack in locations where the temperature gets too hot. If the tab breaks, the door might not shut. Or, worse, the door will shut temporarily and reopen once the vehicle is in motion. As a fix, Ford dealers will remove and replace the side door latches. In a separate recall, Ford is targeting 3,631 2021 E-Series stripped chassis and cutaway vehicles. These vehicles could have frame-mounted wiring harnesses that could deteriorate and break due to rubbing on the frame. If the chaffing wears down the harness, wiring for the fuel, trailer tow, and antilock braking systems could be exposed and damaged. In the worst-case scenario, the damage to the fuel pump wiring could cause the pump to stop working, which could stall the vehicle.  Those with affected E-Series vehicles should bring them in to dealerships for inspection. If there is no damage, technicians will add anti-abrasion tape over the area and "ensure clearance to surrounding components." If the harness is damaged, the wiring will be spliced and fixed, then anti-abrasion tape will be added. Ford also issued a third recall, but it is specifically for the Canadian market. On 54,292 examples of 2006-10 Ford Fusions, 2006-10 Mercury Milans, and 2006-10 Lincoln MKZs, a valve inside the hydraulic control unit might stick open. According to Ford, this could result in a longer brake pedal travel, which could possibly create dangerous situations if the driver is unaware. Dealerships will inspect the control units and replace those that are defective. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Next Lincoln Navigator to drop V8 in favor of V6, but Ford Expedition might get both

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

A great many buyers fled from full-size body-on-frame SUVs to car-based crossovers in large measure to save fuel. But that doesn't mean there's still not a buying audience for more traditional truck-based utility vehicles, and those consumers doubtlessly wouldn't mind saving some dollars at the pump, too. According to Motor Trend, those shoppers might be in luck.
That's because the magazine has confirmed that Ford isn't walking away from the full-size SUV segment, and it's poised to do something about its offerings' economy ratings, too. According to MT, global Lincoln director Matt VanDyke has hinted that the next Navigator may drop two cylinders and go with a V6 model - the current model gets just 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway from its 5.4-liter V8. The obvious fitment would be Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an engine that has spread like kudzu throughout the rest of the Blue Oval's large vehicle lineup.
Downsized turbocharged engines like Ford's EcoBoost franchise have come under fire as of late for not delivering their EPA fuel economy ratings, but their benefits extend beyond consumption - the 3.5L offers superior power and a better torque curve than the naturally aspirated V8. MT also suggests that Ford's 3.7-liter V6 could form the base engine for the next Navi - it has similar horsepower but a lot less torque than the current 5.4L. That may be less of a problem with the next generation tipped to go on a diet, which could level the playing field somewhat.

Lincoln Aviator warning and alert sounds are played by an orchestra

Mon, Nov 5 2018

Lincoln used members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to create alert chimes for its new Aviator SUV. Luxury manufacturers are always looking for more ways to increase the level of ambiance, and Lincoln went so far as to contract some of the best musicians in the world to create a more comfortable atmosphere. In total, the musicians created six different alert chimes for 25 different alerts the Aviator could provide. The alert chimes fall into three different categories Lincoln uses for warnings: non-critical, soft-warning chimes and hard-warning chimes. They are all made using a blend of percussion instruments, violin and viola. Lincoln plans to expand the instrumental sounds across its entire lineup eventually. These chimes will represent warnings for things like an open fuel door, unbuckled seat belt, the lowering of the power liftgate and plenty more. It's not a bad day when leaving your headlights on or door open lead to a pleasant musical sound coming from your speakers. All the sounds seem appropriate for their particular functions, and do sound more pleasing than the normal alerts. Lincoln says the musicians initially came up with 125 different sound options before they narrowed it down to just six. While it might feel a bit gimmicky at face value, a calming sound playing versus an annoying beep might reduce in-car aggravation. The Aviator with these warning sounds will be revealed at the LA Auto Show at the end of the month as well. It was originally shown as a close-to-production-looking concept car at the NY Auto Show earlier this year. All the official production details will be coming in LA. We'll be there in-person to tell you if these new musical chimes are a win. Lincoln Aviator warning chimes View 5 Photos Related video:
