2017 Lincoln Model Year Preview and Updates

For those wondering if there's more to Lincoln than a reflective Matthew McConaughey, the debut of Lincoln's all-new Continental - pictured above - should emphatically answer the question. But aside from a refresh here and there, the Continental is effectively 'it' for the 2017 model year. LINCOLN CONTINENTAL: Although the new Continental may not represent the design stretch Lincoln enthusiasts might have hoped, it's a significant step when compared to the Fusion-based MKZ or displaced MKS. With available all-wheel drive and up to 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, the Continental is described by Lincoln as targeting 'culturally progressive clients who define luxury on their own terms.' In short, this isn't a me-too interpretation of German or Asian luxury; it's the Lincoln Motor Company's interpretation of American luxury, on sale in the spring of '17. MKZ: A freshened design with all-new, Continental-esque front fascia offers an upgraded interior, new technology and available Revel Audio. MKC: It is a year of minor tweaks for Lincoln's compact crossover. A power liftgate is now standard, while Auto Start-Stop is available on MKCs equipped with the 2.0-liter and all-wheel drive, standard on 2.0-liter front-wheel drive. And the MKC receives Sync 3 plus Apple CarPlay and Android Audio. MKT: Aside from color revisions, Lincoln's livery car/crossover is unchanged. MKX: Lincoln's midsize, Edge-based crossover receives little more than color changes for 2017. NAVIGATOR: Lincoln's biggest SUV navigates the model year with few changes except for color. However, with the announcement of an all-new Ford Expedition – on which the Navigator is based – in showrooms this fall, an all-new Navigator can't be far behind it. 2017 Lincoln Continental spied on the inside

We just saw the lightly camouflaged exterior of the 2017 Lincoln Continental a few days ago, and a new set of spy shots now give us an even better look inside the upcoming luxury sedan. Where the outside largely brings the concept's design to the road, the production interior shows far more compromises. Rather than the expanse of blue leather and Alcantara upholstery, Lincoln's stylists tone things down with a mostly black cabin. While less overwhelming than on the showcar, there's still no shortage of chrome because strips of the shining metal outline nearly every surface. Wood accents also help add some visual interest. The general cabin layout remains close to the concept. The infotainment system gets prime position near the top of the center stack, and the buttons for the transmission sit vertically on the left side of the screen. The design then flows to an angled console that features physical controls for things like the radio and HVAC. These photos provide another view at the nearly undisguised exterior, too. The Lincoln emblem at the front is chrome on this test car, and you can now spot more shining trim underneath the grille. Also look close for a better view of the door handles along the beltline. We test Lincoln's 20-speaker Revel Ultima stereo with a rock star

If there's two things Detroiters know, it's music and cars. So when Lincoln approached us with big claims about their latest stereo system, the Revel Ultima System, we sought out a veteran of the Motor City music scene to test it out. First unveiled at the 2015 Detroit International Auto Show in the Lincoln MKX, Revel is bringing its bumping bass to the 2017 Lincoln MKZ. We had Dick Valentine, lead singer of Electric Six and favorite son of Detroit, try out the 20-speaker, 1200-watt system. If you want it on your MKZ, Revel Ultima is part of the $4,400 Luxury Package. Electric Six is perhaps most famous for its early hit, Gay Bar, and the music video filled with shirtless Abe Lincolns in the White House. Since their debut release, Fire, E6 has backed up a regular touring schedule with ten more studio albums, both a live album and live DVD, and an upcoming quasi-reality film titled Roulette Stars of Metro Detroit. We met up with Valentine on the set of the Roulette Stars to explore the depths of his sardonic wit that oozes through every E6 song. Lincoln says that Revel is the best in the biz. And we'll admit, the stats are impressive. But are 20 speakers and marketing terms like Quantum Logic Surround Technology, Clari-Fi Technology and Point Source Architecture enough to impress a Detroit legend? Valentine knows a little something about sound. As the lead singer and frontman of the Electric Six, he's spent over twenty years hearing his tunes played through speakers. While Valentine hasn't owned a car in a while, he does have opinions on jamming inside of them.
