Classic and cool 1963 Convertible Lincoln Continental This car has been well care for mechanically and I have owned it since 2007. It came from Arizona (see pic of plate in photos) and I owned it in CA and CO. It has some surface rust on the bumper, wheels and a few small spots of surface rust, but no major rust issues on the car. The body is straight. I did not have any bodywork done but it does appear to have had a modest amount of bondo around the rear wheel well. The trim is in really good shape and appears complete. There are no tears in the interior, original leather, but the back panel of the passenger seat came off. The piece is still there and could easily be reattached. I doid not as I would have the seats restuffed. Front end was rebuilt just prior to my purchase and I had the front drum brakes converted to disc with a kit from Gearhead Engineering, it stops MUCH better with the front end discs. It has 16 inch smoothies but I do not have the center caps for them. I also do not have the original wheels, and they could not fit over the disc brake kit The top was replaced prior to my purchase and is in excellent shape with no tears. The rear window is a foggy but not damaged or cracked. Generally everything works except the radio, and the rear windows do not automatically roll down when the doors are open. The windows all go down from the switches but the rears are intended to go down when the rear doors are opened. The top works VERY well and was recently serviced. I tried to capture the flaws in the paint and scratches in the pics. The paint looks decent but it is old. The cars starts and runs like a champ, and I do drive it to coffee regularly. There is one stick spot in the gas pedal but it does not hamper driving. I love this car but two of my boys are now teenagers with four-wheel drives filling up my driveway and garage. GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]

General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."

Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln

Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.

Hennessey’s 600-hp Lincoln Navigator is here

The tuners at Hennessey have begun deliveries of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator HPE600, a full-size SUV that boosts the Navigator's normal 450-horsepower output to 600 hp, announcing its arrival with a video showing the performance 'ute riding a dynamometer. Hennessey said it was a natural decision to turn to the Navigator because it has mostly the same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as the F-150 Raptor, which it converted last year to the 602-hp 6x6 VelociRaptor. So it added engine management computer software upgrades, a stainless steel exhaust system, high-flow air induction and large front-mounted intercooler with blow-off valve. Dyno results in the video show the Navigator topping out at around 500 hp and 500 pound-feet of torque at around 3,800 rpm at the wheels; Hennessey says the 600 hp comes at 6000 rpm. The upgrades are good to take the nearly three-ton SUV from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, about 0.7 seconds quicker than the standard Navigator, and run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 107 mph. The tuning package will set you back $19,950, including installation. Additional options include 22-inch forged monoblock wheels, lowered suspension and Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers and 15.1-inch brake rotors. There are also HPE600 badges on the front door jambs and tailgate, and embroidered headrests. It comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Just 200 are planned for the 2018 model.
