1979 Lincoln Continental, Town Car.
400 CID, C6 Transmission
Every Available Option Except for the
Outside Thermostat & Garage Door Opener
This
gorgeous example of an incredible vehicle has been stored inside all its life. This
Lincoln has always been regularly maintained and has currently passed
inspection. Here are some of the features; Cartier clock, vent windows, rear defogger, central locking (doors lock when shifting into drive), climate control heat and air conditioning (yes, it blows ice cold), aluminum wheels with whitewall tires (plenty of tread), power windows (6), automatic headlights with delay, aluminum running boards, automatic headlight dimming (high beams), trunk mounted power antenna with integrated CB antenna, hydraulic over hydraulic power brakes, original matching carpeted floor mats (the dark mats you see are over the originals to protect them and will come with the car), cruise control with steering wheel buttons, remote mirrors - the driver’s side is heated, dual - six way power seats, dual illuminated vanity mirrors with Hi/Lo settings, integrated factory Ford CB radio (it still has the factory warning label on the CB radio to obtain a license before using it), rare power moon roof with full leather roof (most sunroofs came with the half roof), with the original backup crank handle, two tone green dark turquoise metallic paint (color code 4B1) with matching interior, armrests and mats, QUADRASONIC 8-Track AM/FM/CB Stereo with cassette adapter and foot switch controlled radio scanning (a VERY rare option usually seen on only the collector series), Power trunk. The vehicle also has delay wipers and tilt steering wheel.
This
vehicle has always been stored inside. Every maintenance issue has been always
corrected; new brakes - including cylinders, drums, rotors and pads, shocks,
ball joints, Exhaust Gas Return valve, power steering hoses, all maintenance
has been done to the original specifications.
The vehicle also has a BRAND NEW Carburetor (not rebuilt).
History: The vehicle was manufactured in Detroit but
for sale in Canada so the odometer is in kilometers (the mileage I listed is in
miles) and the speedometer is in both MPH and kilometers as was common for most
American cars in the late ‘70’s and 1980’s.
The car was purchased new by a man who died approximately 2 years after
buying the car and his family kept it in storage for close to 30 years before
selling it to the second owner. He had
most of the work done to the car as it had been stored for so long (I have all
receipts). He only drove it sporadically
in the summer. However, since his career
keeps him busiest in the summer months leaving little time to drive the car (he
wouldn’t drive it in winter) he decided to sell it. I am the third owner and have owned the car
since 2012. I have only put about 10 or
15 miles on the car since; driving it around town to keep the parts lubricated
in the summer only as I planned to keep it until I died.

2016 Lincoln MKX gets 330-hp EcoBoost V6, new auto braking system
Tue, Jan 13 2015Lincoln has been treading water with the MKX. The crossover's sales were flat in 2014, and its appearance and mechanicals have been largely unchanged since its last redesign in 2011. That changes this fall, when the redesigned 2016 MKX goes on sale in the United States with a more powerful EcoBoost engine, an upgraded cabin and a host of new comfort and safety features designed to make the crossover more competitive and increase its sales. The MKX debuts Tuesday at the Detroit Auto Show, though pictures leaked last weekend. The new vehicle has at least 36 new features compared with the outgoing model, and perhaps the most significant is the addition of the optional twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which is expected to make more than 330 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. That's a major jump from the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6, which is the only engine option available on the current vehicle. It continues as the standard engine for the 2016 model and is rated at 300 hp and 280 lb-ft. The engines are paired with six-speed automatic transmissions. Front wheel-drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option. Lincoln engineers focused on improving the driving character of the new MKX. The chassis is revised, and the rear suspension uses an integral link setup. It's also the first Lincoln to get adaptive steering. The body structure is updated and designed to keep more outside noise from the cabin. "Quietness is luxury," chief engineer Elaine Bannon said. The MKX was also redesigned with a focus on safety. The MKX is among the first Ford Motor Co. vehicles to get a new feature, called pre-collision assist. The technology will warn the driver if it senses a crash is imminent and apply the brakes. The technology is also launching this year on the European version of the Ford Fusion, the Mondeo. Additionally, the MKX gets a 360-degree camera that aids with parking. The camera is mounted behind the Lincoln star badge in the middle of the split-wing grille. It extends to offer a view of up to seven feet around the perimeter of the crossover. Lincoln also added an auto hold feature, which keeps the vehicle from moving when it is sitting in traffic. Lincoln underscored the MKX's new safety and technology with a more dramatic design for 2016. It has a swoopy appearance with fender flares similar to those on the MKC, and it's curvier and more creased than the outgoing MKX.
Did Neil Young just spill the beans on a 2016 Lincoln Continental? [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Neil Young may be better known as a singer-songwriter and rock n' roll icon than he is for his involvement with cars, but the Canadian-born musician is not without his automotive credentials. His latest book, after all, is titled "Special Deluxe: A Memoir of Life & Cars," and one of his most famous songs, "Long May You Run," was written about his old station wagon. But does that mean he's got an inside line on new cars coming out? In an appearance on CNBC's Mad Money with Matt Cramer this week, the Y in CSNY was plugging Pono, a portable music player and service he developed. During the segment, which you can watch in the video clip below, Young mentioned that his company was working on a new in-car audio integration with Harman, which as we know just signed a deal with Lincoln. Here's where it gets interesting: The Godfather of Grunge mentioned that Pono and Harman were preparing to put the system in the 2016 Lincoln Continental. The thing is, Lincoln hasn't made a Continental for a dozen years now. Does Neil know something we don't, or did he simply misspeak? He is, after all, working on an electric-converted '59 Continental he calls the LincVolt, so it wouldn't be hard to imagine he got mixed up. But maybe, just maybe, it was the first bit of leaked info that Ford's luxury division is planning on shifting away from its MK-based naming scheme and reviving at least one iconic nameplate. Lincoln MKX Concept goes for the gold in Beijing
Sun, 20 Apr 2014We've now seen the Lincoln MKX Concept in the metal, and we've shot it with the lenses of our own DSLR cameras. And we have to say, our opinion of the concept's design language has improved over our initial reaction. Yes, it's clear that this MKX shares its underpinnings with those of the Ford Edge Concept that we saw in LA, but the changes made by Lincoln stylists are a welcome departure from the angular lines of its corporate cousin from The Blue Oval.
We like the subtlety of the MKX Concept's front fascia, and the lighting elements both front and rear lend a luxurious quality to the crossover's typical two-box proportions. When combined with the smaller MKC that was shown in production form late last year, it's clear to see that Lincoln has a specific design direction that at least seems visually capable of setting it apart from the Ford models with which the brand shares its platforms. Here's hoping there are some Lincoln-specific upgrades underhood...
Have a look at our image gallery of live photos from Beijing above, reread the press release below, and feel free to let us know what you think.
