A certainly popular and sought after car by the well heeled in 1973, this excellent example of the Lincoln Continental luxury 2 door still stands today as a testament to American pride, engineering and what we stood for back then. It is a well cared for luxury YACHT! Measure your garage before bidding on this behemoth because it is over 19' long and in return for that space will give you one of the best and most luxurious rides imaginable. This car was built back when Detroit still used REAL American STEEL! Powered by the venerable 460 cu In Ford Big Block V8, the only thing that deterred this car was the Oil Embargo of 1974....kind of like a meteor killing off the dinosaurs, this car just couldn't make it in the gas crunch 70's.
Fortunately, it DID survive and here it is in great condition, well heeled and well cared for and ready to provide unending service to it's new owner/owners. This car features all of the power accessories one would expect and demand on a luxury ride. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Seat, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Antenna, Power trunk release, PowerFUL engine...Power Power Power! Factory supplied fender skirts accompany this car and are in great shape as well. They make this car look so long, sleek and classy that I doubt they have ever been off for very long...only long enough to add the "like new" Michelin White Wall radial tires that adorn this beauty. I hail from Cleveland, and that means I'm familiar with sports franchises that are always falling short of championships. The Indians, the Browns, the Cavs - they've all come close, but being a resident of C-Town means learning to appreciate the effort more than a reward that never seems to come. So I can appreciate the situation in which Lincoln finds itself today, one where the past is full of repeated attempts to be competitive, and looming on the future's horizon is the next hope on which everything hinges.
That next hope for Lincoln is not the car you see here, but rather the smaller, all-new 2013 MKZ sedan. Like LeBron James entering Gund Arena for the first time, the MKZ will enter dealerships this fall as the brand's chosen savior, markedly more stylish, advanced and desirable than anything offered by Lincoln in recent memory. And that would make this car, the 2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost, one of the other 20 guys whose names I can't remember who played alongside LeBron during his rookie season.

Thu, Jan 7 2016Sorry about the super-low-res photo, but what you're looking at here is the 2017 Lincoln Continental ahead of its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. The image appeared online courtesy of Ford Inside News, showing the production version of Lincoln's new 400-horsepower sedan. The front fascia certainly looks different than the gussied-up concept we first saw in New York last year, but as the Ford forum suggests, this could just be a lower-spec model. Seems weird to us that Lincoln would introduce some snazzy, full-LED headlights and then just slap projector beam units on the actual production car. But you never know. We'll know for sure when the car is revealed at Cobo Hall next week. Expect it to have all-wheel drive with the company's new 400-hp, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 (that debuted in the MKZ in Los Angeles). Lincoln prepping MKZ re-launch?

Case in point is the 2013 Lincoln MKZ, introduced with the fanfare of a major nationwide marketing campaign, including expensive Super Bowl ads, just as Ford was curbing production over potential quality issues. The resulting mess was nothing short of a nightmare for any automaker - customers visiting dealerships looking for cars that hadn't been delivered yet. Disappointed buyers walked out of Lincoln retailers without new keys in their hands, or switched to a competing brand to fill empty spaces in their driveways.
The impact was painful, as Lincoln's sales in January and February of this year were among the lowest it has recorded in more than a quarter century. Even though March looked a bit brighter, with the supply crisis reportedly over (there are 3,000 units in transit and production is approaching 200 units per day) the automaker is reportedly studying the feasibility of giving its pivotal MKZ the launch it originally deserved.
According to TheDetroitBureau.com, putting the MKZ back on consumer's radar could cost Ford tens of millions of dollars, but that kind of investment may be warranted if potential buyers have forgotten about the new model... or worse, if they have forgotten about Lincoln.
