1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III

Offered for sale is this very rare 1969 Lincoln.  The Continental Mark III 2 door hardtop Luxury Coupe was the top model for 1969.  It is fairly hard to find one that is still in good to very good condition like this one.  This is a two owner automobile (technically three as the original owner - an older gentleman, who purchased the car new at the Kumpf Lincoln-Mercury dealership in Denver in 1969 did donate it to a local museum from which I purchased it sometime later).  The body is straight and the exterior is in pretty good condition, but the paint (one repaint) looks a little tired and does not show as well as it could or should.  There are a few minor blemishes, scratches, etc. and a couple of small rust spots at/near the bottom of the car.  A good detail/buffing should really help in getting it to look great.  The bumpers, chrome, stainless trim, etc. are in very good to great condition.  The windshield and glass are in great condition.  The vinyl top was replaced by the previous owner (I guess her wanted to keep the car in the best condition possible).  The car is nicely appointed with the original vinyl and cloth interior which is in very good if not great condition.  The headliner, carpet and rubber mats are in very good condition.  Again, a good detail job will go a long way to reviving this beautiful interior.  The dash looks great except for one 2-3" crack on the right side of the steering wheel.  The car has AC and power everything.  It has the 460 engine and automatic transmission, a new fuel pump was installed about a year ago.  The car starts, runs and drives very well and is a pleasure to drive.  It is not perfect by any means as it is an older automobile, but it will make a very nice driver or cruiser with only a minimal amount of TLC.  It has only 74,000 miles showing on the odomoter.  This is your chance to own a legendary automobile which has some of the best styling ever designed.

Affordable and attractively priced with a low and very reasonable reserve, this car will be a very smart buy for anyone.  You are welcome to come and inspect the car in person.  Check my feedback and bid with confidence.  A $520 non-refundable deposit is due immediately upon the end of the aution by the winning bidder via PayPal.  The remaining balance is payable within 48 hours after the end of the auction via Bank Wire.  The Buyer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and costs to their location.  The car is sold as-is, with no warranty/guarantee.  Sale is final, no return or refund.  The car must be picked up within seven to ten days after the end of the auction.

Thank you for looking and happy bidding!

Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. See the full recall notice below for details.

More than 800,000 Fords recalled for faulty Takata airbags

Thu, Jan 12 2017

The Basics: Ford is recalling about 816,000 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles built in the US for faulty passenger-side Takata airbags. The affected vehicles were all built in North America, with 654,695 recalled vehicles in the US and 161,174 vehicles in Canada. A wide variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs are affected. This is a planned expansion of an earlier recall. 2005-09 and 2012 Ford Mustang 2005-06 Ford GT 2006-09 and 2012 Ford Fusion 2007-09 Ford Ranger 2007-09 Ford Edge 2006-09 and 2012 Lincoln Zephyr and Lincoln MKZ 2007-09 Lincoln MKX 2006-09 Mercury Milan The Problem: Like every other Takata recall, the problem rests with faulty airbags that can potentially expel shrapnel, injuring or killing vehicle occupants. Millions of vehicles from dozens of automakers are affected, so don't think that Ford is alone on this one. Injuries/Deaths: Ford stated in a press release that there have been no injuries or death linked to the vehicles in this recall. All in all, 11 deaths and 180 injuries across a variety of automakers have been linked to these Takata airbags. The fix: Ford will contact owners soon, and the affected vehicles will have their airbags replaced by a dealer at no additional charge. If you own one: Wait for contact from Ford, then head to the dealer to get a replacement. If you're wondering if your vehicle is affected, go to this Ford website and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The recall reference number is 17S01. 2017 Lincoln Continental: Was this mic-drop moment just a big flop?

Thu, Jan 21 2016

The Lincoln Continental may have been our fifth-place pick for Best In Show at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but it's probably the one we argued about the most. In fact, we're still talking about it. And we'll no doubt be discussing it long after we finally get to drive the new sedan later this year. We do this with lots of cars, all the time. The Continental is an especially important, high-profile car right now. It has the task of being a torch-holder for the struggling-to-run Lincoln brand, and that's a tough job these days. But did Lincoln do right by its Continental name? Did its Detroit showcar stop us in our tracks, or were we left feeling cold? In an effort to show you our full discussion, we're trying something different. About a week after the Detroit Auto Show press days concluded, Autoblog's Jonathon Ramsey sent an email around to some editors about the Continental to open a discussion. It got heated, and fast. And while we considered summarizing it, we decided to instead post the whole, largely unedited (adjusted for typos and swear words) chain. From: Jonathon Ramsey To: Autoblog Team Does anyone else think it's a problem that the new Continental looks 85 percent like the MKZ? And another 10 percent of it looks like a Jaguar and a Bentley? Because I think Lincoln screwed the pooch. The German Three plus Porsche can make cars that look alike – they've earned the right, even if I'd rather they didn't. The MKZ looks like a car for regional sales reps. Lincoln broke the glass in case of emergency, grabbed the Continental name, then put it on a car that looks a lot like that sales-rep car, but one for regional VPs. Do we really think this can work? Because I don't. From: Steven Ewing To: Autoblog Team Personally, I'm pretty disappointed in the final execution of Continental. I'm glad Lincoln isn't obsessed with chasing the Germans, but at this point, it's not even chasing Cadillac. I think that introducing the new front end and TTV6 engine on the MKZ before the Continental was a huge mistake. And while I have high hopes for the Conti from a comfort/driving standpoint, my gut instinct is that it's going to be more "better than the MKS" than "best American luxury sedan." Introducing the new front end and TTV6 engine on the MKZ before the Continental was a huge mistake.
