1967 Lincoln Continental Convertible With Suicide Doors - Classic & Rare on 2040-cars
Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
This is the one you have been waiting for! A grand example of a 1967 lincoln continental convertible with the famous suicide doors. This is the rarest year for the kennedy lincolns. In fiscal 1967 only 2,276 of the convertibles were produced. This is the lowest production run for all suicide door models dated from 1961-1967, truly a historical car. A lot of work was done on the top to insure quality and trouble free driving. Replaced electrical with all relays, hydraulic lines were also replaced; including new pumps to insure good operations. The door switch's and relays were replaced. This was done at a cost of $11,000. All work was done by Lincoln Land in Clearwater FL. New exhaust system. Upholstery front and rear are in excellent condition. The motor just purrs and the new transmission is great. Brakes stop nice and the car drives great. This car is very rare. It was produced with the under dash air conditioning system. Only about 2% were sold with this option. The car comes with the usual lincoln amenities, 462 v8 power plant, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power seat, power trunk, radio w/ power antenna, all season radial tires, factory hubcaps, and more. Note: I have not replaced the radio or clock when viewing the pictures look at the detail, many hours were spent making this car right. This is a true collector item. These are sought after now in the collectible car circuit. A investment for the future. Feel free to ask any and all questions about this automobile. |

2020 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator reportedly facing numerous QC issues
Mon, Sep 16 2019A lengthy report in the Detroit Free Press delves into a range of quality control issues confronting the 2020 Ford Explorer and its luxury platform sibling, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. Freep says it's been following the issue for two months, tapping various unnamed sources for information on the automaker's unorthodox route to resolution. Seems the problem is Explorers and Aviators leaving the production line at the Chicago Assembly Plant with flaws in areas like the chassis, transmission and suspension, said vehicles trucked to Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant (FRAP) outside of Detroit for repair. The estimates range from 10,000 to 18,000 vehicles affected, numbers so high that Ford has sought help from Roush Engineering in nearby Allen Park, and brought workers and managers from other plants in the Midwest to FRAP to get vehicles repaired and shipped to dealers. Ford hasn't shared the nature of the problems with anyone outside the company, including dealers and customers. Freep's sources are said to include workers who have provided photos of certain vehicles and of tents used to house parts at the FRAP repair site. The Explorer chassis allegedly has an unidentified problem that engineers are using X-rays to diagnose, and the transmission is having problems sensing when it's in park or going into park. Both the Explorer and Aviator have come off the line with HVAC units that only blow hot air. And the Aviator's height-adjustable suspension enters failure mode for unknown reasons. These come on top of quotidian mishaps common to every new vehicle, but that are meant to be sorted in pre-production, like missing emblems and trim pieces. They also come on top of a recall in early August issued for the Explorer and Aviator concerning the instrument cluster and parking brake, and another at the end of August over rear seatbacks that could collapse in a crash. An automaker spokesperson told Freep, "Making updates to preproduction models based on all-new platforms as they roll off the assembly line – is standard industry practice." Except these aren't pre-production, these are early production vehicles that paying customers and dealers are waiting for, and some of the affected vehicles have been pulled off dealer lots. Dealers say they are fine waiting for the trucks to get sorted out, and they'd rather have Ford fix the problems before the SUVs go to customers.
Ford recalls 1.3 million Fusions, MKZs: Steering wheels could come off
Wed, Mar 14 2018When driving a car, the steering wheel is only expected to move in a rotational fashion, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. When it moves in some other direction, something is wrong, and when it moves the wrong way enough that it is no longer attached to the steering column, that's a really, really bad thing. And apparently, according to a recall issued by Ford, there are over 1.3 million Ford Fusions and Lincoln MKZs that are at risk of this happening. And at least two accidents and one injury have been attributed to the issue. Ford says the problem is that the steering wheel bolt that keeps the wheel attached to the column might not provide enough torque, resulting in the bolt slowly loosening and working its way off the column. The good news is that the fix is really simple. Ford will install a larger bolt with more threads along with a larger nylon patch to keep it all locked down. The fix is completely free to owners. Cars affected by the recall include 2014 to 2017 Fusions built built at the Flat Rock plant in Michigan between August 6, 2013, and February 29, 2016. Model year 2014-2018 Fusions and MKZs built at the Hermosillo factory in Mexico are also affected. So if you have one of those sedans, please get in touch with your local dealer to have the issue addressed. Related Video:
