1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible on 2040-cars
Rumson, New Jersey, United States
1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible I purchased the Lincoln on ebay about 2 years ago from the
previous owner in Florida. An ex Red
Socks pitcher. I’m unsure how many owners
there were prior to him but might have only been one. The car is in great running condition. Starts and runs excellent. It cruises and has a very comfortable ride. Heat and AC work. Odometer reads 30,489 miles. I was told the engine was rebuilt but don’t have any paperwork on it. My guess is the car has 130,000 miles. Work I’ve had done since I’ve owned the car: Tune Up (oil changes, filters, etc) New Coil, plug wires, and plugs New Coolant hoses New power steering hoses New Tires New Steering box and alignment New Header Gaskets New Breaks The top works great and trunk lid. Windows work as well but need new window switches. Most of the switches are shot but I have had the windows working. They go in and out. I only drive it in warm weather so typically just get the windows down and keep them down. Garage kept so that works for me. The top is in good condition but has one small hole. Paint is shot and interior could definitely us a refreshing. Front passenger seat is the worst. Rear seat is fine. Could use new carpet but it’s not terrible. With a new paint job and interior the car will be a looker and/or flip for good profit as I’m pricing the car to sell. I have the owner’s manual, two sets of keys, paperwork on any of the repairs I had done, and a car cover. Car has clean title. Don’t hesitate to call me on my cell with questions. Lincoln MKX Concept announces impending launch in China
Sun, 20 Apr 2014Lincoln has finally dropped the details on the MKX Concept after a few days of teasing. Set for a very important global debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, we're going to have to see this conceptualized version of the third-generation MKX in person before we can draw any real conclusions on the effectiveness of its design.
One of the things Lincoln will need to do to succeed is deliver something to customers that's unique to the brand's vehicles, which are exclusively rebadged models from parent company Ford. We're not sure this is going to be distinctive enough.
Unlike its last new vehicle, the Navigator, the work done on the MKX is smooth and refined. The stance of the vehicle, with its 21-inch wheels, is aggressive enough. Viewed from the profile, the overhangs appear rather short, while character lines keep it from looking slabsided. In front, we might be witnessing the cleanest interpretation yet of Lincoln's twin grilles. The headlights are slim and stylish, and we're digging the shape and style of the mirrors, which feature integrated turn signals that outline the mirror cap.
Lincoln revival bypasses rear-wheel drive for now
Wed, Nov 25 2015Ford execs had the axe ready for Lincoln just a few years ago, but the luxury marque is on a hot streak these days. Annual sales are up 7.5 percent through October, and the recently unveiled, refreshed 2017 MKZ previews the company's improved styling. In a great piece about the brand's growth strategy, Automotive News finds the division's bosses want to focus on the core vehicles before taking a big step and building a rear-wheel drive niche model. "Luxury coupes and sports cars are not the first place we need to go," Global Lincoln Director Matt VanDyke said in the story. The division's bosses want to use the updated MKZ as an opportunity to distance Lincoln's identity from Ford, and the powertrain will carry the 3.0T badge rather than Ford's EcoBoost name as part of that approach. The model also injects excitement into the range thanks to an all-wheel drive version with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and an optional Driver's Package with a torque-vectoring rear differential. Lincoln will launch at least three new models by 2020, too. One of those will be the production Continental that will reportedly debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The company will also allegedly revive the Aviator to fit below the Navigator. The third vehicle remains a mystery but likely isn't a compact. Automotive News' story further examines the previously languishing brand's work to climb up the luxury ranks in the US. It's well worth a read. Related Video:
Lincoln Aviator to return as a concept in New York
Thu, Mar 15 2018The keen Canadian eyes at Autoguide spotted on Lincoln Canada's Twitter feed that the Lincoln Aviator will be resurrected at the 2018 New York Auto Show in two weeks, albeit in concept car form. Given that today's Continental and Navigator were previewed with thinly veiled concepts, it's therefore safe to assume that we'll eventually see a production Aviator. According to Automotive News back in 2016, Aviator should be a three-row crossover based on the next-generation Explorer. So essentially, it will replace the MKT, which was last seen picking people up at your local airport and essentially nowhere else. This content is hosted by a third party. The original sold from 2002 to 2005 was also based on the Ford Explorer, and although relatively well-received by car reviewing types at the time, it never caught on with the buying public. Its failure is still a bit surprising given the similar SUV fever of that era. The resurrection of the Aviator name also coincides with the return of Continental and the introduction of Nautilus, which replaces the MKX. However, have no fear MK enthusiasts, the MKZ and MKC still live on. You can be in charge of letting people know just exactly which cars those are.
