1966 Lincoln Continental 21k Original Miles on 2040-cars

US $13,000.00
Year:1966 Mileage:21599
Location:

Newport, Minnesota, United States

Newport, Minnesota, United States

This car only has 21,599 miles on it.

This is better than a barn find, my grandfather's 1966 Lincoln Continental that he only used it on special occasions. He had bought it for my grandmother, but she was scared to drive it because of its size.  I can only remember riding in it two times as a child, once for my fathers wedding and once out to dinner.

He had always said that the mileage is actual, when he bought the car in 1983 the title documented the actual mileage then as 17,650. Now the mileage is 21,599.  I have only driven it around my neighborhood because I do not have insurance on it or current tabs.
Almost all of the car is original, however sometime in the 80's he had the vinyl on the roof replaced and still looks good.  The car was also repainted in the 80's to a brighter red color, there is some overspray in the door jambs.

After I got the car there was a leak in the fuel tank when it was filled over half full.  I removed the tank and had it sandblasted and sealed by Gas Tank Renu MN there is a lifetime transferable warranty against any leaks that is transferable. The fuel pump, belts, and a power steering hose were also replaced. I think the carburator needs some attention because to start it after it sits overnight you need to pour a little gas down the carb to get it started.

The car starts, runs and drives. the motor sounds good for an almost 50 year old engine. The transmission pan gasket should be changed, it drips after sitting a week or so.  The power windows work when you hold the lock switch in the lock position??? Even the little vent windows work. The A/C does not work and I doubt it has been looked at since the 80's. The tires have lots of tread on them. All of the interior is original except the drivers door arm rest. all of the interior parts appear to be there. The cover for the spare tire and the original jack are missing.

If you have any questions or want specific pictures message me your email address, Ebay will not let me post my email address on here.

Lincoln debuts MKC ads starring Matthew McConaughey

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

Lincoln is making the decisive commitment that it wants to improve its brand perception going forward. It can't be cheap to hire A-list talent like Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and director Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for Drive, for its new ad campaign for the 2015 MKC crossover, but the company is showing that it's serious about the new vehicle and its future. The first three of these five commercials are just hitting YouTube, and they begin airing on television on September 6.
The Live in Your Moment campaign is all about Lincoln trying to sell not just the MKC to customers but also explain the brand's philosophy. It's one of the oldest luxury automakers around, but hasn't exactly had a glorious history, especially recently. Based on these first ads, we can see that there's a definite focus on philosophizing rather than focusing on the crossover. At times, McConaughey seems just a mustache and a mangled beer can away from reprising his role from True Detective.
The first ad (above) is simply titled Intro and sets the mood and concept for the whole campaign. Bull has McConaughey talking to a longhorn in the middle of a road, and I Just Like It has him explaining his affinity for the brand. Lincoln's full release is available below, and you can view the other ads by flipping through the playlist in the video player above.

Feds Probe Power Steering In 938,000 Ford Midsize Cars

Mon, Oct 6 2014

U.S. safety regulators are investigating complaints that the power-assisted steering can suddenly fail on three Ford midsize car models. The probe covers 938,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received 508 complaints alleging that the cars lost power-assisted steering, causing increased steering effort. Four complaints say the problem caused crashes, but no injuries were reported. The agency says in documents posted Monday on its website that in many cases, a warning message appeared as the failure happened. Restarting the car corrected the problem in some cases, but the problem returned in others. The agency says it will check the scope and frequency of a problem. It could seek a recall. Ford says it's cooperating with the probe. Shares of Ford Motor Co. rose 6 cents to $14.65 in morning trading Monday. Its shares are down 14 percent over the past year. Lincoln MKC spied in final form

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

When the Lincoln MKC Concept debuted back in January, it received fairly positive feedback from both Autoblog editors and readers alike, and this bodes well for the production version of the luxury crossover judging by these latest spy shots. Reader Ivan Lo captured a few pictures of some MKC prototypes driving around with minimal camouflage, which gives us our best look yet at the design of this new Escape-based Lincoln.
Based on the spy shots from back in May, we already knew that the production MKC would sport some real door handles, a little side cladding and bigger door mirrors, but these latest shots also show us that the rear quarter windows have been enlarged and the integrated dual exhaust outlets have been replaced by round pipes. This means that the MKC will retain the concept's narrow headlights and what is arguably Lincoln's best execution of its split-wing grille. Even better, the rear view confirms the stylish horizontal taillights will remain intact, as well as the Audi-like wraparound liftgate. Since the entire taillight assembly rises along with the liftgate, redundant lights were also added into the rear fascia.
Unfortunately, the low angle of these spy shots leaves us without a view of the interior, but based on its looks alone, the MKC is shaping up to be a promising vehicle for a brand that so badly needs some fresh metal.
