This old hot rod is in need of some love for sure. It's either going to make a really good parts car, or a sweet custom restoration. I've had this car for over 15 years and have been plagued with the same problem all along, I live in the city and I have no place to park it. I haven't driven the car in about 7 years other than to move it. I do start it from time to time. It's time to let the old gal go. So here's all that's both wrong and right with it no B.S.
I'm happy to take any extra pics you would like and send them along.

The good:

Hubs and brakes:

First off the brake hubs, which are pretty much impossible to find. The two on the front are both re-casts from Lincoln Parts International. Unless they have done another batch I got the last two. They have very few miles on them. The hubs for the back are also in very good shape. They are currently not installed. The break hydraulics have been replaced. I have two sets of new unused pads.

Transmission completely rebuilt by Aamco (yes I know I was an idiot to do that).

Replaced the steering box. (Rebuilt unit from Lincoln Parts Int.)

I had a low rider sub frame put in the car (of course not for the purpose of making it jump). Even though the base of the car needs metal work you can open all four doors and jump all over it. For a unibody convertible of this era, it's totally rigid.

Two of the window motors are rebuilt, not installed. All the glass is good.

The not so good:

There is a dent in the drivers side door, but nothing that can't be popped out from the inside.

Interior is a complete redo.

Although it's pretty much all there mechanically, the automatic roof is not working and there is no vinyl top.

The floors, trunk and wheel wells need metal work.

Rear right exhaust pipe (after the muffler) needs to be replaced.

There is some bubbling and chipping on the paint job.

Window switches need replacing.

Power steering pump is leaking and needs rebuilding.

Fuel gauge doesn't work.

Speedo doesn't work.

General Stuff:

Car has about 110,000 miles on it and runs fine.

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.

Why Lincoln says it's loving Ellen and Conan MKC ad spoofs [w/videos]

Mon, 13 Oct 2014

You would think that commercial being ridiculed across the Internet would be an advertising executive's worst nightmare, but that's not necessarily the case. At least not when it comes to Lincoln and its latest campaign to promote the new MKC.
The campaign features Matthew McConaughey channeling his characters from True Detective and The Lincoln Lawyer, and was quickly spoofed by both Conan O'Brien and Ellen DeGeneres. But instead of shaking their heads in dismay at the comedy talk-show hosts' take on their ad, Lincoln and its advertising firm Hudson Rouge welcome the free publicity.
"We're flattered. Just to get out into the public mind with parodies says you've achieved a certain amount of notoriety," Hudson Rouge CCO Jon Pearce told Automotive News. "It's hard to put a dollar amount on earned media. We couldn't ask for better."

Lincoln dealers frustrated over slow MKZ production ramp-up

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

Lincoln has clearly been working hard to get the word out about its 2013 MKZ sedan. The Dearborn automaker has taken out lavish spreads to trumpet its boldly styled new model in magazines of every description, along with placing commercials for both the vehicle and the reborn brand behind it on all manner of television programs, including the super-costly Super Bowl earlier this month.
Pity, then, that Lincoln dealers don't have enough MKZs to sell. According to The Detroit News, parent company Ford has spent a good portion of its time at this week's National Automobile Dealers Association meeting in Florida attempting to pacify upset dealers who don't have enough examples of the pivotal new vehicle in stock.
As the DetNews notes, Lincoln only sold 453 MKZs last month, a whopping 73-percent decrease over the same period last year when the sedan's predecessor was on sale. In fact, the stunted supply had enough impact that Lincoln's January figures worked out to a 32-year low for the brand, just as it's trying to get back on its feet. This, despite the fact that the MKZ is said to have the biggest number of pre-orders in the marque's history.
