Up for sale is a very clean and unique 1962 Lincoln Continental. Beautiful example of a well kept California rust-free classic. This Lincoln has been in the Los Angeles area its entire life and always stored indoors. Still has the original matching set of black & gold license plates. Most people choose to paint these cars black but very few of them were actually factory black cars. In fact less than 3% of all early 60’s Continentals came in that color. This is one of those few cars built in 62’ that came with paint code “A” (Presidential Black). This is a true matching numbers car with original power train, exterior paint color, and interior color. I get compliments, thumbs up, and turn heads every time I drive it. Clean CA title in hand with tags just paid until Feb 2015.

Factory 430ci engine and 3-speed auto transmission were both rebuilt in 2011 and have less than 10k miles since the rebuild (over $5k spent on overhaul). The car has 71k original miles on chassis. Runs like a dream and feels like you're riding on a cloud at any speed. Lots of power coming from that big block under the hood and it tstill moves pretty easy for such a large car. It’s very reliable, has no mechanical issues, and doesn’t leak a drop of oil. Most of these Lincoln’s have leaks coming from the original power steering system and transmission but that’s all been rebuilt on this car. All of the chrome, stainless steel trim, and glass is original to the car. Most of it was re-chromed and polished 5 years ago when the car was repainted for the first time. Clean two-stage paintjob done in 2009 with very straight body lines and perfect 1/4 ” gaps between panels throughout. It has all original rust-free body panels, floors, and frame rails. All four doors open and close very easy with no sagging. Original glass is clean with no cracks or noticeable scratches. All the windows were recently serviced and had new motors and rollers installed which made them move fast and quietly now. All 7 window switches work properly as well. The weather-stripping was replaced at time of paintjob including new door seals. The interior is mostly original and still looks like the day it rolled off the assembly line. The dash pad and steering wheel are in near mint condition with no cracks unlike most 50+ year old Lincolns. This is a clear indicator the car was never parked outdoors in the hot California sun for too long. The upholstery was redone about 3 years ago in black leather, replaced the headliner with correct perforated style vinyl fabric, installed new wood inserts, did a full dash detail, and trunk compartment detail. All the interior and exterior lights work fine. Original AM radio still turns on and sounds good. The whitewall tires are about a year old and are pretty much still new (paid $1200 for the set). Brakes  & suspension work well and car handles and stops good at any speed. I’ve got the original owners manual from 1962, as well as an assembly manual, maintenance manual, and various invoices. I also have the original dealer set of black mats and trunk jack not shown in the pictures but will go with the car.

Known issues; the A/C system is due for a service, still blows cool air but not ice-cold as it’s suppose to. All the interior vents and dash controls work fine. The seat switch needs to be rebuilt or swapped for a replacement (seat only moves in 2 directions right now). Fuel gauge not reading correctly, (might need a new tank floater or calibrate the gauge itself). Aside from these minor issues the Lincoln pretty much looks and runs as good as it did in 1962.

Car is available for inspection by any potential buyer during the auction so feel free to call and set up an appointment (714) 426-9147 -Felix. Bring your mechanic and take it for a spin, you’ll be sold on it after a short drive. I’m not interested in any trades so please don’t ask. This is a No Reserve listing and it well go to the highest bidder no matter what. Thanks for viewing my listing and good luck!

2017 Lincoln Continental spied inside and out

Thu, Jul 9 2015

Lincoln certainly made us stand up and take notice when it unveiled the Continental concept at the New York Auto Show this past March. Showcars, however, are only worth so much if they never reach production. But as these latest spy shots indicate, Ford's luxury division is hard at work taking the new Conti from show floor to showroom. The team from Dearborn has clearly gone to great lengths to disguise this prototype, wrapping it in a new type of camouflage with trompe l'oeil bulbous-looking shapes to keep us from seeing just how close the production version will keep to (or how far it may stray from) the concept's design. Our spy photographers did, however, manage to snap some shots of the inside through the side glass, and though it's still evidently some ways off from reaching production, some key details give us an idea of what to expect. Look closely and you can make out the buttons for the transmission running down the side of the infotainment screen, just like on other new Lincolns. The chromework appears to have been toned down some from the blinged-out dashboard of the showcar, but it may be too early to say how much shine there will be to the production model. The overall design of the center console looks pretty darn close to the version we saw in New York, though. The Continental is expected to replace the MKS, as Lincoln moves away from alphabetical nomenclature back towards actual nameplates. Assembly is slated to be undertaken in Flat Rock, MI. There are a great many more details yet to be uncovered, but as far as early indications go, it looks like Lincoln is well on its way to making its concept a reality. Related Video:

Ford will keep Escape and MKC plant open an extra week to meet demand

Thu, Jun 8 2017

Crossovers keep selling like popular pastries, and for Ford, that means it needs to keep production going. The company announced that, rather than the usual two-week shutdown, its Louisville, Ky., assembly plant will be open for one of those weeks. The plant builds the Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC, which Ford reports have had record sales. According to Ford, Escape sales through May are up 3 percent, and MKC sales are up 10 percent compared with last year. In total, the Escape has sold about 130,000 units through May, and the MKC has sold around 11,000. Keeping the Louisville plant open will allow the company to build an additional 8,500 vehicles. Ford stated that all other assembly plants will continue with the two-week shutdown as scheduled. Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
