1961 Lincoln Continental Covertible W/ Suicide Doors on 2040-cars
Newark, Maryland, United States
NO TITLE 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible V/8, A/C, Auto, PW, PD, Car starts and runs. Trans moves car forward and backwards. No exhaust, needs brake work. Car was completely stripped to bare metal and dis mantled by previous owner Doors are still hung. Dash still intact. Car starts and trans shifts. It appears that all of the parts are present. all glass was removed during stripping process. Hood is easily repairable, trunk lid needs some major sheet metal work but intact. All doors and fenders in good shape. Looks like all trim is present also. Here's the deal on title, I purchased the car and was excited about it, I loaded it up and just as I paid the guy he said the guy that has the title left it home and I can pick it up in the AM. I should have unloaded the car and parts and went home, I didn't after it took me over an hour to load all the parts etc. I trusted the guy. Well, next day comes and I call him and the other guy can't find it and they promise me a title. Months of me chasing this guy and the other guy no title. The other guy bought it from a person years ago who is now deceased and can't get a duplicate and so on. I live in Maryland and MVA is a BITCH and won't help the situation. The state police couldn't help except that the VIN is not stolen. So I am selling as a Complete PARTS CAR ONLY, NO TITLE. I have heard of other states being a little more easy to obtain a title. Not Md. The opening bid is my reserve. I just want to break even. I have a car trailer and would deliver for $2.25 per mile loaded. Both Car and towing paid up front. I am trying to sell this way first before I part out. |

2013 Lincoln MKZ [w/video]
Fri, 07 Dec 2012Rebranding When Reinvention Is Requisite
Lincoln - pardon us, the Lincoln Motor Company - assures us that Ford is committed to its success. The awkwardness of the statement (which feels vaguely like your mother telling you that she loves and supports you regardless of what everyone else thinks) was hard to escape when we recently spent a few days with the all-new second-generation 2013 Lincoln MKZ.
Launched earlier this year at the 2012 New York Auto Show, the MKZ is a midsize premium sedan that shares platforms with the Ford Fusion (also all-new for 2013). The sedan's primary competitors, according to Lincoln, include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES Series sedans - each an established, accomplished player.
Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. See the full recall notice below for details.
What will the next Presidential limo look like?
Thu, 25 Jul 2013With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.
