This is a NO RESERVE auction for my my 1947 Lincoln Continental Convertible.  This has been in our family for about 30 years, my dad starting restoring it about 20 years ago, but never finished, so here’s your chance to restore it and get it back on the road.  This car originally came with the V12, but it was missing when we got it.  He put a Mustang II front end in it, disc brakes, Ford 9” rear end and a Ford 400 motor with AT.  The fenders were removed and the body was media blasted and painted with bare metal etching primer.  No bondo or bodywork has been done.  You can see in the pics that there are a few rusty places in the floor that need to be replaced, but otherwise the car is very solid and rust free.  All of the fenders, doors, and other sheet metal are rust free and very straight.

He’s been collecting spare parts for it over the years and has duplicate parts for just about every part of the car.  Spare fenders, dashes, gauges, switches, radios, grilles, bumpers, etc… There’s even a brand new spare radiator with a custom brass top that’s polished to a mirror finish.  The original radiator is also included with the dual inlets and dual outlets that were on all of the V12 cars.

The convertible top is complete with all of the bows and can be raised and lowered manually.  The hydraulic lift struts are still there, including the original aluminum interior panels.

The continental kit is all original and complete with spare tire brackets and tire cover panels that are in perfect original condition.

This car is super rare and is an excellent candidate for restoration because it’s very complete, rust free and in great condition.  As far as we can tell, it’s been here in Arizona it’s entire life, so it’s in really good shape.  When we bought it, it was stored in a garage and for the last 30 years we’ve had it stored in the garage as well.  There are enough accessory parts for 2 cars.  My dad recently passed away and I wouldn’t be able to restore this car the way it should be done, so I hope it goes to a good car family that can bring it back to life.

The car has a clear Arizona title in my name, it’s not a salvage title and there are no liens.

Because there are so many spare parts and they won’t all fit in the car, I will NOT ship internationally.  Transportation of this car will consist of a auto trailer as well as a truck bed just for all of the spare parts.  Please make arrangements with me before final bidding to arrange transportation.  The car rolls very easily and the tires will hold air for a few days.

Honda poised for growth, Detroit to hold steady, Car Wars study says

Fri, Jun 5 2015

The automotive industry is expected to keep booming in the US over the next several years, but the train might start running out of steam in the long term, according to 2015's Car Wars report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy. The forecast focuses on changes between the 2016 and 2019 model years, and the latest trends appear similar in some cases to the past predictions. Sales are expected to keep growing and reach a peak of 20 million in 2018, according to the Detroit Free Press. The expansion is projected to come from a quick pace of vehicle launches, with an average of 48 introductions a year – 26 percent more than in 1996. Crossovers are expected to make up a third of these, maintaining their strong popularity. However, Murphy predicts a decline, as well. By 2025, total sales could fall to around 15 million units. As of May 2015, the seasonally adjusted annual rate for this year stands at 17.71 million. Like last year, Honda is predicted to be a big winner in the future thanks to products like the next-gen Civic. "Honda should be the biggest market share gainer," Murphy said when presenting the report, according to Free Press. Meanwhile, in a situation similar to Car Wars from 2012, a lack of many new vehicles is expected to cause a drop for Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. Based on this forecast, Ford, General Motors, and FCA US will all generally maintain market share for the coming years. The report does make some future product predictions, though. The next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra might come in 2019, which is earlier than expected. Also, Lincoln could get a Mustang-based coupe for 2017, a compact sedan for 2018 and an Explorer-based model in 2019, according to the Free Press. Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models

Thu, Mar 2 2017

The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
