1999 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Monroe, Ohio, United States
I have driven this car daily for about 1.3 years. It drives like a Lincoln Town Car should. It has been well maintained and garage kept since I have owned it. I believe the previous owner also kept it in a garage. I have put about 27k miles with very little problems. One repair performed while I have owned it was replacing the intake manifold on the top of the motor. I was told it is a common problem on this engine. It had a hairline crack and you could smell coolant. Otherwise, I have seen these cars drive for hundreds of thousand of miles with very little problems. It also has new platinum plugs. This car has low miles for the age at 129k. It is a clean car inside and out. I was told the air-ride suspension was recently replaced before I bought it. I am only assuming this is true but it rides very well. See below for the description of any of the existing known issues/problems. The largest ding is on the rear drivers door(shown in photo). Otherwise the exterior is in good condition. It has very few dings and has some minor scratches that you would expect on a black car of this age. The hood has been repainted. It was repainted prior to the current owner purchase. It looks good from about 5 feet away. It was painted because the clear coat was fading. You can see the spots that were not sanded well underneath the new paint from up close. Otherwise the paint looks original and cleans up well on the rest of the car. The drivers door lock is disconnected inside the door. It opens with the key manually. The key fob is not original. It does not have the original floor mats. Cd changer in the trunk has a missing magazine. Tires are not matching front to rear but are all in good condition. Let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information or photos of the car. Car is sold as is. Happy bidding! |

Ford issues six recalls covering 101,000 vehicles for multiple issues
Tue, 08 Jul 2014Ford is announcing six separate recalls for a variety of issues affecting a dozen models and a total of 100,610 vehicles in North America. However, according to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker, "None of them have caused accidents or injuries." Half of them cover fewer than 1,000 cars.
The largest recall covers 92,022 North American examples (about 83,250 in the US) of some models of the Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Ford Interceptor, Flex and Lincoln MKT from the 2013 and 2014 model years; the 2012-2014 Edge and the 2014 Lincoln MKX. All of them have a potential issue with the halfshaft on the right side that might not be fully seated and could move outward over time. If it shifts too far, the models may no longer be able to drive, and the condition could also allow the vehicles to roll away, even when in Park. Dealers will inspect the shaft to make sure it's seated and will replace the part if necessary.
The next-largest recall covers 5,264 North American examples (4,867 in the US) of the Ford F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis from the 2011-2014 model years. It's possible that an electrical junction box can corrode in areas with salty roads and short circuit. The problem could potentially cause a fire. Dealers will replace the box with an improved design.
1955 Lincoln Indianapolis concept up for auction
Sat, 21 Sep 2013
Lincoln was never a brand known for making sports cars. In fact it hasn't offered anything with less than four doors since the demise of the Mark VIII, and that was hardly what you'd call "performance oriented". But that doesn't mean that Ford's luxury marque never toyed with the idea.
In 1955 Ford delivered a Lincoln chassis (along with a 200-horsepower V8 engine and four-speed automatic transmission) to Carrozzeria Boano, an Italian coachbuilder that had just branched off from Ghia the year before. The resulting orange coupe you see here was named after Indianapolis and was unveiled at the Turin Motor Show. And while its detailing may have been divisive, the overall shape certainly caught the eye.
Lincoln putting perfume on its sales
Mon, 18 Aug 2014Lincoln has a scent. But unlike those from Mustang, Lamborghini or even Shark by Tara, you can't buy it and you have to visit a Lincoln dealership to inhale its notes of jasmine hedione, mate tea leaves and tonka beans. Essence of Lincoln - that's what it's called - is being piped through the ventilation systems at some showrooms to help "create an emotional connection between the luxury brand and its customers," and olfactorily promote the idea of "luxury and warmth." Where it's not run through the ducts, visitors can sample it on scent cards.
Master perfumer Rene Morgenthaler worked with aroma house SensoryMax to design Essence of Lincoln. Also including traces of Earl Grey bergamot and green tea, whenever you encounter it you're meant to enjoy "a feeling of belonging to an exclusive, forward-thinking group that values style and success." And then buy an MKC. There's a press release below with details and an image to explain more, if you're still having a little trouble smelling the orange blossoms.
