1997 Lincoln Town Car 6 Passenger Limousine on 2040-cars
Kenosha, Wisconsin, United States
Limousine is in pretty good shape for the year. Has been used up until recently as a back up bar & concert car for our limo fleet. Passenger side large window got broke by some kids in Chicago. Did not have time to find a new window, so we put Lexan in it to keep inside dry. It is fully secure while driving, and does not leak. Needs to be re-tinted as we were hurried to get it fixed for a concert this past summer, and it bubbled.Car does have minimal rust beginning to show, however, could be easily fixed by someone who wants to put a little time into it. Has a 4.6 liter V8 and although it has high mileage on it, still runs and drives extremely well.Automatic transmission shifts properly. Gas gauge inaccurate. Could use a front end alignment. Cruise Control does not work. Tires in good shape. About 50% left on them. Brakes are in good shape, as they were replaced not too long ago. Has a sunroof. Does not leak. Been disconnected since I bought the car 4 years ago. The car has been strictly used as a back up bar concert car, so never have had a need to figure out why it wasn't working. All accessories work in the back. AM/FM/CD player works fine. Seats are in excellent shape, and are not torn or faded. A/C worked very good this past summer, and should still be working just as well. Air Suspension working strong! Car comes with extra parts as well. *Replacement front clip *Replacement grill in excellent condition with hood ornament intact * Replacement outside mirrors (left & right) * Replacement headlight assemblies (left & right) *Replacement tail light assemblies (left & right). Mirrors are already painted white, however the front clip is still grey. It is off of our old 95 Lincoln Towncar that we parted out.
Doors are in very good shape, and are not rusted. However, I do have 4 doors, off of a 1995 Lincoln Towncar if you are interested in them. Asking $200 for all 4. These are also still grey. Would make a great car for someone who wants to make a little extra money taking people out on "pub crawls", concerts, ball games, etc... Or, would also make a nice personal car that you and your friends/family can enjoy. Now, I have really worked very hard at making sure that I have kept a 100% positive feedback rating as a buyer. I do not have much experience as a seller, however, it is extremely important to me that I keep my 100% positive rating. So, I would not be offended, whatsoever, if you would like to come take a look at the car before actually paying for it. If you do not like what you see, then walk away. However, if you keep in mind that the car is 16 years old, I do think that you will really like what you see. If you are coming from outside the area, and need transportation from either O'hare Airport or Mitchell Field (Milwaukee), I would be happy to pick you up at the airport. I would only need to charge the fuel & tax. For O'hare ~ $60 For Milwaukee ~ $40 We have been driving this car up and down the interstates for quite a few years now. It has always treated us well. I see no reason why you would not be able to drive it to your destination... wherever that may be. Obviously, mountain driving may be a bit strenuous on an engine with high mileage on it, but if you were to take her easy, she should do just fine for you. Car still gets 18-20 miles per gallon. I have listed this car locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. I think that I have remembered to include everything. Please, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have. I am happy to help! |

Lincoln's $5B revival bid hinges upon new D6 chassis
Mon, 27 Oct 2014It's no secret that Lincoln has received short shrift from the Ford Motor Company for years, and former CEO Alan Mullay even wanted to kill the whole thing off when he ran things. Today, things appear to be trending in a different direction. Fresh investment has helped enable a sizable marketing push for its well-regarded MKC compact crossover, a couple of awards for the company and plant the seeds for a major expansion into China. While the situation is still in the early going, it looks like Lincoln is on a tentative (if long) path towards a turnaround. If new reports are accurate, the brand is poised to build on that momentum with its largest investment in new products in years thanks in large measure to a new modular platform codenamed D6.
According to four unnamed insiders speaking to Reuters, FoMoCo is investing over $5 billion over the next five years, partially to create a new modular platform to underpin multiple Lincoln vehicles - and possibly some Ford products, too. Development is reportedly being overseen by the division's new boss, Kumar Galhotra. At the moment, specific details about the D6 chassis aren't yet known, but it's rumored to have the flexibility to support front-, rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles. According to Reuters, the first model using the framework could be an MKZ replacement and seven-passenger MKT successor in 2019.
Until the D6-based models hit, expect to see continued expansion from Lincoln. Ford management isn't trying to turn around the division overnight and is planning "in terms of generations of products," according to current CEO Mark Fields. The strategy unsurprisingly includes a production version of Lincoln's recent MKX Concept, as well as an all-new Navigator using aluminum-intensive architecture. Reuters also claims the MKS is due for renewal in the meantime, including with a longer-wheelbase version to appeal to the brand's new Chinese buyers.
Ford defends plan to shareholders: ‘We're simply reinventing the American car’
Fri, May 11 2018Ford's top executives took heat from shareholders over their plan to do away with sedans as we know them in Ford's North American lineup, as the company held its annual meeting Thursday. Critics said the plan to shelve the Fiesta, Focus and Taurus, reduce the Focus to one crossover model, and concentrate on high-margin trucks and SUVs was a shortsighted abandonment of entire market segments of affordable vehicles. "This doesn't mean we intend to lose those customers," Ford CEO Jim Hackett said. "We want to give them what they're telling us they really want. We're simply reinventing the American car." Ford has said SUVs/crossovers and pickups will constitute 90 percent of its North American lineup by 2020. And though only the Mustang and new Focus Active will remain, it plans to add new vehicles going forward that offer better fuel economy and utility, including EVs and hybrids. Hackett characterized the shift not as an abandonment of traditional cars but as a transformation of them. "We don't want anyone to think we're leaving anything," Hackett said. "We're just moving to a modern version. This is an exciting new generation of vehicles coming from Ford." It was Hackett's first annual meeting as CEO, and for the second year it was conducted online rather than in person. The change to Ford's lineup is part of Hackett's overall plan to cut $25.2 billion in costs by the year 2022. Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. blamed the negative reaction to the lineup plan on media coverage. "I wish the coverage had been a little different," he said. "If you got beyond the headline, you'll see we're adding to our product lineup and by 2020 we'll have the freshest showroom in the industry. The headlines look like Ford's retreating. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth." While Ford was clear about its plans for the Blue Oval, it has been less clear about the Lincoln brand. Hackett on Thursday said only that the Lincoln Continental, re-introduced just two years ago, would continue "through its life cycle" — but it has been such a slow seller that rumor has Ford killing the Continental again after that, and Hackett made no mention of a new generation. Presumably the MKZ sedan will go away when its twin the Ford Fusion does, but although Ford has outlined end dates for other models, the Fusion's departure is open-ended. The stock price has been a frustration for investors for years and has fallen 12 percent since the first of the year.
2015 Lincoln MKC
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Back in 2012, Lincoln claimed its comeback bid was finally underway with the new-for-2013 MKZ. But don't you believe them - the renaissance won't actually begin in earnest until the shapely compact crossover seen here reaches showrooms in big numbers. That's because while the four-door MKZ was indeed a proper step toward rebirth, the 2015 MKC is the first wholly conceived vehicle under Lincoln as a standalone brand, a move first announced back in 2012.
That's an important distinction, because Lincoln's newfound emancipation from Ford's design and development processes has given the struggling marque both the corporate wherewithal and the will to develop a more fully formed product. The four-wheeled result seen here is a surprisingly cohesive luxury CUV, one with significantly more aesthetic and dynamic separation from its Ford Escape sibling than the MKZ and its Fusion counterpart. Said another way, after flogging Lincoln's latest for hundreds of miles over canyon roads outside of Santa Barbara, we've come to understand that this is far from a re-grilled Dearborn special with luxury tinsel - it's a bona fide standalone product that readily displays the sort of clear differentiation seen in platform cousins like the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. It's the real deal.
