1987 Lincoln Town Car

Black Exterior with Black Half Roof Option.     Dark Blue Cloth Interior.

71,000 miles.

Drives very well with smooth running 5.0 Ford engine.  Trans shifts perfectly.  Brakes feel and work perfectly.  Steering is perfect.    I know the history on this car from new……I bought it roughly 10 years ago from the original owner.   Always garage kept and maintained to the max!  We put roughly 15,000 trouble free miles on the car and parked it.

Although it has been off the road for a few years now – it has always been started from time to time and driven.   Fresh fuel throughout the years and always with Star-Tron additive.   We just put in a new battery and distributor plus cap and rotor.   (Needed a stator and the whole distributor was only a few bucks more).  Recent oil change.

Options:

Outside thermometer,  Power Vent Windows, Power Windows, A/C, Upgraded radio, Power Antenna, Power Seats, Power Locks, Power Trunk Pull Down, Tilt Wheel, Rear Defrost, Headlight Sentinel, Wiper Delay, Steering Wheel Controls, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Cruise Control,

Condition:

Engine / Trans and other items under the hood:

-           Engine runs great…no knocks, taps, rattles or funny smells.  No Smoke.  No Leaks noticeable.  Trans Shifts fine – has never needed fluid added.   Trans serviced about 5 years ago but not many miles since.   Recent Oil Change,  Power Steering pump sounds good.

-          Hood insulation should be replaced as it is sagging.   Plan to replace the serpentine belt and have the hoses checked.  They look fine but have not been changed.

Exterior:

-          Clear coat is cracked on the hood, roof and trunk.  See the pictures.   Unfortunate as this car is top quality and the paint hurts its overall appearance.   Sides are very nice.  Padded roof section in decent condition but not perfect – see pictures.    Straight and clean overall.  Good chrome, stainless and plastic trim.

-          Wheels are excellent………………Lincoln optional stainless (real) wire wheels.

-          Tires,   Appear good and have good tread.   Matched set of tires but must be at least ten years old.   Never a problem with air pressure.

-    Crack in exterior of front right turn signal lense.

Driving:

-           Very impressive over all.   Very quiet and smooth.  Runs fine, shifts fine, brakes feel good and steering is normal.    I have a new set of shocks for this car –purchased years ago and never installed.

Interior:

-           Very nice overall.  Small cut in drivers side door panel.  Small crack on each side of the dash at the speaker grill.    Nice otherwise.   Great Headliner.  Seats are great !   No rattles or funny smells.

-          Great Dash.    One window does not work – the rest are great.    Even the small power vent windows work great.     Radio, instruments, trunk release, power seats, power locks, power antenna, etc work great.    Great glass all around.    Not sure about the rear defrost – have not tried it.

-          A/C needs a re-charge.  Worked perfectly while the car was in regular use.  All vents, heater, defrost, etc. works as it should.

Trunk:  -  Dry and Clean.  No smells, spare and jack are intact.

Car is sold As Is / Where Is with no warranty expressed or implied.   Will ship just about anywhere in the world at buyers expense.   Delivery to ports in Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York easily accomplished at buyers expense.   Car must be paid in full before it leaves here.  Inside storage of the vehicle no problem after the auction as long as it is paid for.   Will work with your shipper to make this easy !

50 new vehicles by 2025: Ford making big push in China

Tue, Dec 5 2017

SHANGHAI — Ford will launch 50 new vehicles in China by 2025, including 15 electrified vehicles, the U.S. firm said at an event in Shanghai on Tuesday, as it looks to rev up sales growth in the market and shift towards cleaner electric cars. Ford's sales in China have been weak in recent months, and the company is scrambling to come up with electric and hybrid vehicles to comply with strict Chinese quotas over production and sales for so-called new energy vehicles, or NEVs. The U.S. automaker is undergoing a broad review of its China operations, part of a strategic re-think under new Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett, which will likely see the company focus on electric commercial vans as well as electric cars. "Between now and 2025, we will launch 50 new vehicles in China, and of those 50 new vehicles, 15 of them will be all-new electrified vehicles," said Peter Fleet, Ford's head of Asia Pacific, pointing to big growth in the "utility" segment. Fleet also said Ford's China revenue would grow by 50 percent over the same period. China is pushing automakers toward electric and hybrid petrol-electric vehicles, setting tough quotas for NEVs that come into play in 2019, and has signaled a longer-term shift away from traditional internal combustion engine cars. The major shift in the world's largest auto market has jolted some automakers, sparking a spate of recent electric vehicle (EV) joint ventures in the market. Ford has announced an EV tie-up with China's Anhui Zotye Automobile Co Ltd. "We've never seen change like we do today," said Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford. "Everything is being disrupted" by the development of autonomous vehicles, trends such as ride-sharing and electric vehicles, he added. "It's clearly the case that China will lead the world in EV development, and so we at Ford are investing enormous amounts of money both here in China and globally to bring electrification into fruition." Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services

Fri, Aug 24 2018

Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.

Matthew McConaughey returns in new Lincoln MKX ads

Thu, Sep 10 2015

Matthew McConaughey is getting back behind the wheel of a Lincoln for a set of cool new ads for the MKX. Unlike his oft-parodied spots for the MKC, the latest ones eschew the easy-going actor's semi-philosophical musings in place of some smooth jazz, a mysterious story, and shots of the luxury crossover on the road. Separately, the three commercials are titled Welcome, Arrival, and Winning Hand, and they combine to tell a story of McConaughey getting ready for a game of poker. Of course, the MKX is meant to be the real star, and the spots show off its high-end tech, including a 360-degree camera, Revel Audio system, and hands-free parking. Keep an eye out for a cameo from a classic Lincoln in one of the ads. For really curious viewers, the automaker is also extending the story to its homepage to explain more about the people McConaughey is meeting. In addition to giving McConaughey and the MKX starring roles, there's A-list talent behind the camera too. Replacing Nicolas Winding Refn from the MKC spots for these is Gus Van Sant, best known for directing Good Will Hunting and Milk, plus recent BMW i8 videos. The new ads make their broadcast debut during college football games on Saturday, September 12 on ABC and re-air during NFL games on the 13th on CBS and Fox. However, you can get an early peek by watching the combined short film above. Let us know in Comments how you think they compare to McConaughey's MKC spots. Collaboration Between McConaughey and Lincoln Evolves in Spots for All-New Lincoln MKX Quiet Luxury, an understated yet compelling experience brought to life by the all-new Lincoln MKX, underpins a new series of television advertisements featuring Matthew McConaughey. All-new Lincoln MKX, representing the latest chapter for the brand, featured in new television advertisements with Matthew McConaughey Acclaimed director Gus Van Sant brings distinct cinematic style to these Lincoln MKX ads, which introduce new characters and storylines. The new spots debut during key college football matchups on Saturday, Sept. 12, on ABC. They can be seen again during NFL games on Sunday, Sept. 13, on CBS and FOX. "What appeals to me about this new series of ads is that while the overall Lincoln message remains consistent, the way it is delivered continues to evolve," said Matthew McConaughey.
