1976 Lincoln Continental Town Car 34000 Original Miles!! on 2040-cars
Rosamond, California, United States
This is a '76 Lincoln Town Car Continental 4 door sedan. Car has JUST 34000 miles, ORIGINAL. Have most paperwork from registrations and repairs verifying mileage. Oil changed often, even though it sat most of the time. Beautiful canary yellow and matching interior. Seats are soft crush velour. Car is extremely clean for a 38 year old vehicle. BUT, it IS a 38 year old vehicle!. Wires etc look original, runs good but secondaries won't open, so since sitting for years, could use carb kit. Battery replaced, tires replaced, but sat so they seem to have flat spots. Cartier clock doesnt work, but rebuild job runs about 90$. Windows and locks work but all are slow and stiff, could use some lubrcation. I am third owner, getting it from son of original owner. Sold in New Mexico, now in sunny, DRY So Cal. Orig owner died about two years after buying, then his wife drove occassionally. When she passed, son, now about 80, got it. Did a few trips in early '80s, then parked it. It has the ULTRA rare spare fuel tank. I think it adds about 8-9 gallons to the 22-23 gal orig tank. This thing was MADE for LLOOONNNGGG hiway cruising, IN STLYE and comfort. Body nice, a few spots needing attention along edge of original leather, landou top trim and there are a few dings, hubcaps, trim, doors, some with not good touch ups, but all very small, chrome is peelin on shifter handle, and very small crack in drivers door armrest far front, un-noticable. Pix should answer most questions but feel free to ask. Interior nearly perfect, seats, headliner, carpet, dash. Trunk all original except needs one snap I think. Flip up lights work perfectly, no vaccum leaks. 8 trac tape player works and the "sympohony sound" is very good. Top is dry, very small cracking along seams, but VERY nice and presentable. Car is awesome at car shows, and I can NOT drive it ANYWHERE without getting comments. SEVERAL. It is like a time capsule. Going thru divorce and trying to get a house cuz of it. I would have NO INTENTION of selling it othertwise. Car is so nice to drive that it surprises you. With some lite TLC this car would be perfect. I just don't have time and it is a damn shame. Car is beautiful and fun. 1000.00 non refundable deposit upon winning, within 48 hours of purchase. Can't store long cuz of divorce, BUT could deliver it for fee, to include travel home. |

Lincoln poised to double MKZ Hybrid production
Thu, 18 Jul 2013The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has been something of a hit for Ford since the beginning, exceeding the company's modest projected 15-percent take rate for more than two years (we say "modest" because that still means an overwhelming majority of Lincoln customers are passing up on the gas-electric powertrain even though it costs the same as the standard model). Either way, Lincoln builds 700 MKZ Hybrids at its plant in Mexico each month, but has sold 715 of them in each of the past three months. That's why, according to a report in The Detroit News, when the restyled 2014 MKZ Hybrid arrives (non-hybrid pictured), Ford is doubling production compared to 2013. Instead of the hybrid model being 20 percent of production, the new hybrid will make up 40 percent.
Ford is doing well with hybrids in general - its portion of the electrified vehicle segment jumping 12 points in a single year to 16 percent. Assuming Ford doesn't change the pricing strategy (along with the changes Ford is making to calibration to improve fuel economy), the sedan could continue to "[show] other luxury hybrids how it's done" when it goes on sale later this year.
Lincoln Aviator could make a comeback
Tue, Jun 9 2015The idea of Lincoln dropping its alphanumeric scheme in favor of real names was welcomed by fans of the marque and even appeared possible after the rousing reception to the Continental concept. Now, rumors suggest that the next of the luxury brand's nameplates to see a possible revival just might be the Aviator. Don't get your hopes up quite yet, though. The Truth About Cars admits that this tip comes from a second-hand source, but the person reports that Lincoln has a project codenamed Aviator as a model based on the Explorer. There's evidence to give the rumor some shaky support, though. Ford already has the trademarks for the name and AV8R. Also, an Explorer-based vehicle in 2019 is included for the brand's predictions in the recent Car Wars forecast. Autoblog reached out to company spokesperson Sam Locricchio, but he would not speculate about future products. The same source claims to The Truth About Cars that the Blue Oval might not replace the Ford Flex or Lincoln MKT when the current generations come to an end. Also, the next-gen Expedition and Navigator could use 10-speed automatics and follow the F-150 to get aluminum bodies, which is also already rumored. Although, all of this should be taken with a big grain of salt until anything more official has arrived. Lincoln spokesperson Stephane Cesareo gave The Truth About Cars no comment on the rumor, but said, "By 2020, we expect to expand the segments that we participate in by adding two new nameplates to the Lincoln brand. We have not provided any indications about the products or their names." Related Video:
Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes
Tue, 14 May 2013When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.
