Up for consideration we have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. This car is in good shape both body and mechanically. The only problem is the passenger's side window does not roll down. It needs a new motor. I do a lot of my own mechanic work and within the last thirty thousand miles the following have been address:

  • new spark plugs
  • new coil on plugs (all 8, used Borg Warner)
  • new front CV joints (driver and passenger side)
  • new front wheel bearings (driver and passenger side)
  • new brakes and rotors (all 4 wheels)
  • transmission fluid and filter change
  • transfer case drain and fill
  • rebuilt rear differential (navigators were notorious for bearing failures in the rear differential)
  • front differential drain and fill
  • regular fuel filter changes
  • regular air filter changes
  • new rear wiper arm and motor
  • new gas lifts on rear glass, rear gate, and front hood
As you can see, the car is well maintained. The engine runs smooth and has good power. The transmission shifts smoothly. The oil has has been changed at regular intervals using synthetic 10w-30 by mobile 1.  I've actually just changed the oil so your good for another three or four thousand miles. The tires are in OK shape but probably will need to be replaced in 15 thousand miles.  The windshield wipers will probably need to be replaced before winter. The air suspension has been replaced with a coil Strutmasters conversion kit, so you won't have to worry about a saggy rear end (air suspension is nice.... until it fails... and then it's expensive). With the coil over kits you never have to worry about a bad pump, air line, or blowing an air strut.

As you can see, the interior is clean. A few scuffs here and there but no rips or tears in the leather. The heated and cooled seats work great. The rear dvd works great. the 6 cd changer works great as well. the air blows cold and the heat is nice and warm in the winter. The sunroof opens and closes with ease. I just oiled the track.

On the outside, there are a few scratches as you might expect for a car this old. No major dents or rust. The underbody is also very clean and has some underbody coat still left. This car should last several thousand miles more if well taken care of and maintained.

Full payment is due within 7 days of close of the auction. Payment may be made with Paypal, personal check if sent in advance, or cashiers check. Note that due to the age of the vehicle, it is unlikely that a bank or credit union will finance this vehicle. I have the title in hand so when you pick up the vehicle you also get the title. The buyer will be responsible for all vehicle registration fees and taxes. The car is listed as having 146,000 miles but the picture shows 144,857. This is because I might take it out and drive it just so it's not sitting for a week. However at most it will be to the gas station or car wash.  Please only serious bidders. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Lincoln considering giving cars real names again

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Enthusiastic reaction to the Continental concept might be the death knell for Lincoln's alphabet soup of monikers. "Without divulging the future, we're very excited about the Continental name and the attention it's gotten," Ford President of the Americas Joe Hinrichs said to Automotive News. Hinrichs admitted that the current MK names could confuse those not familiar with the models. Hinrichs suggested that one way Lincoln might differentiate itself was to "leverage its heritage." While this is certainly nothing explicit, the talk could be an indication of an upcoming overhaul for the brand's naming scheme. The Continental is set to hit the market next year as a replacement for the MKS as the company makes a major push into China. Lincoln bosses reportedly gave the designers the model name as inspiration for what to create. The brand's health has slowly been improving since former Ford CEO Alan Mulally was ready to completely kill the brand. Last year, a new boss was appointed to the helm, and there were reports of a modular platform under development. Let us know in Comments what Lincoln names you want to see revived. The Town Car is likely the best-known model from the brand after the Continental, and Zephyr has fairly recent history as the brief moniker for the MKZ. Related Video:

Lincoln plans pilot subscription service for pre-owned vehicles

Fri, Mar 30 2018

Lincoln's foray into the world of monthly subscriptions will follow the mold of Ford's Canvas program and launch a pilot service offering a range of pre-owned 2017 Lincoln vehicles in West Los Angeles and the San Francisco area. Lincoln first announced plans for a subscription service on the sidelines of the L.A. Auto Show. The luxury automaker says its new service will allow customers to have a vehicle "as if it were their own," with a monthly payment that covers a prescribed mileage package and includes comprehensive insurance, warranty, maintenance and roadside assistance. It'll be based on Ford's nearly year-old Canvas program, also offered in the Bay Area and West Los Angeles. It offers pre-owned Ford vehicles on a monthly subscription basis, including insurance, maintenance and warranty coverage. Terms for that program are one to 12 months, with an ability to swap cars at any time. While Lincoln didn't announced pricing or a start date for its own subscription program, Canvas' existing service starts at $400 a month, not including tax and depending on vehicle and other options, for pre-owned Ford vehicles. Ford in February said its Canvas fleet has more than 600 customers who've logged more than 3 million miles in the two markets. Lincoln joins a growing list of automakers including Volvo, Cadillac and Porsche who are offering monthly subscription services as an alternative to traditional ownership or leasing. The subscription service will also come with Lincoln's Pickup & Delivery program, in which a valet picks up a customer's vehicle for service at any location and provides them with a loaner Lincoln before returning their vehicle. Lincoln also reiterated its plans to expand its Lincoln Personal Driver service first piloted in San Diego and Miami to Dallas, saying it will soon be integrated into the Lincoln Way mobile app. The service, previously called Lincoln Chauffeur, allows customers to call on a screened personal driver who can also assist with errands while the customers attend to other matters. The luxury brand is emphasizing "warm, human and effortless" services as a way to differentiate itself from its competitors. What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.
