The report spelled out how Clarkson struck Tymon on the patio of a North Yorkshire (UK) hotel, leaving him with a bloodied, swollen lip. It was severe enough that the producer sought medical treatment. During and after the attack, Clarkson shouted expletives at Tymon and threatened to fire him. The noise carried into the hotel's dining room and even to a bedroom. Local police investigated the incident, but Tymon isn't pressing charges. The huge audience numbers, Clarkson's popularity and the high-octane excitement of Top Gear all melted away in the eyes of BBC director-general Tony Hall, who saw an attacker and a victim. "For me a line has been crossed," he said in a statement. "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations." In that moment, Clarkson was the bad guy, though he was actually the one who reported it to the network and made repeated attempts to apologize to Tymon. He's also urged the media to leave the producer alone. Hall voiced regret in the statement that announced Clarkson's contract would not be renewed, but the BBC decided to move on. Rumors are swirling about possible replacements for Clarkson. The network says it wants to continue Top Gear in 2016 and is looking to air the rest of this season's episodes. Despite the controversy, the show has a global audience of 350 million viewers and is one of the BBC's most valuable properties. It's unclear what Clarkson's co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, will do, as their contracts were also reportedly up to be renewed. Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.

Production Lincoln Continental will debut at Detroit Auto Show

The Lincoln Continental concept that debuted at the 2015 New York Auto Show was an absolute star of the event thanks to its handsome lines and sumptuous interior. At the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, we'll get to see how well those fantastic looks transition to the road, as Lincoln will debut the production version there, according to Car and Driver. A market launch will reportedly come later in the year. The stately styling, including the mesh grille, is expected to move largely unaltered to production, but Lincoln is still being vague about the luxury sedan's mechanical parts. The brand's marketing manager Imran Jalal tells Car and Driver the Continental is based on a front-wheel drive platform but an all-wheel drive version in assured. Based on details from the New York show, it reportedly uses a Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 for power. There are no plans for a hybrid, either, according to Jalal. Assembly of the Continental is expected to happen at Ford's Flat Rock, MI, factory alongside the Mustang and Fusion. The MKS, which the new Lincoln replaces, is built in Chicago along with several other models. Freeing up the space there, could let the Blue Oval keep up with demand for the Explorer. While the Continental ushers in styling changes for Lincoln, the shift doesn't extend to model names. Contrary to earlier rumors, the brand doesn't intend to abandon the MK model names in the lineup anytime soon, according to Jalal. Related Video:
