Rare 1979 Lincoln Mark V Designer Series Givenchy Edition With NO RESERVE 400 V8, 68k original miles. Rare Givenchy Designer Series with Crystal Blue Moondust Metallic paint and front-half Valino Grain Vinyl Roof in Dark Crystal Blue. This was the most expensive designer model available in 1979, done in a special blue exterior color that was offered one year. Another unique feature is the reversed vinyl roof treatment. There were only approximately 2200 produced in 1979. Options include quarter windows that lower and raise before main window, working "Quadrasonic" 8-track with digital display, memory settings, and auto scan ($380 option), digital "miles to empty" readout, working thermometer on driver's side view mirror, tilt steering wheel, remote trunk release and automatic dimming headlights. Here's a page describing the features of the 79 Givenchy Edition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Continental_Mark_V#Givenchy_3 Mechanical: recent full exhaust system from the engine back including resonator (Lincoln is nice and quiet) new disc brake pads all around as well as front rotors, new alternator, new front end parts including ball joints, bushings and shocks as well as a set of new Michelin tires. The a/c works but could use a freon charge, the cruise control works, the windows (small power vent and main) work perfectly, the passenger seat needs a new switch or motor, it does not move. The headlight doors work properly but do start to open after the car has been sitting for a few days. Cosmetics: the interior is very nice, the leather overall is in excellent condition, even the driver's seat does not show wear. The door panels, dash display, headliner and visors are in very good condition, the dash has one sun crack in the center. The vinyl top has a nice grain pattern, it's close to perfect, looks like new. The paint is original but still shines up well as seen in the pix. The underside is perfectly clean, does not even show surface rust. All floors and trunk solid under the carpet, the Lincoln has never been hit or had any kind of body repair and the chrome shines nicely. She's never been out in the winter, I just took her out to get some extra shots for the auction. The Lincoln has always been a "Garage Queen". Engine starts easily even after sitting for weeks, the garage floor is always dry when I pull her out. She cruises nicely on the highway, 400 V8 moves this big girl up the highway with ease. She idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, brakes evenly and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like an American luxury cruiser should and handles well considering its size. All the directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work properly, as well as the wipers and horn. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Mark V is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a good door to door auto shipper if you need one. Rare classic Lincoln which is as much a pleasure to drive as she is to look at. Any questions feel free to email or call 914-224-3230 |

2016 Lincoln MKX First Drive [w/video]
Thu, Sep 10 2015The Lincoln Motor Company was one of America's great luxury symbols of the 20th Century. It grew from an aircraft engine maker during the First World War to become the car of presidents. The jaw-dropping Continental concept revealed earlier this year is a clear indication that Lincoln plans to build on its history and recapture some of that luxury magic. While the image of a powerful Continental thundering over a tony Westchester road is certainly romantic, it does little to sell cars today. Enter the 2016 Lincoln MKX. Flagships like the Continental are great, but Americans buy way more crossovers, and Lincoln's redesign of the MKX focuses on the needs of modern luxury customers. That means more and better safety features, a quiet interior with attractive materials, and classy exterior design. The potent 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 pushes out 335 horsepower, outperforming V6 offerings from Lexus and Acura. There's also a new engine – Ford's potent 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 pushing out 335 horsepower – that outguns V6 offerings from Lexus and Acura. All told, it's a tasteful redesign with some spotlight features that might turn a few more customers Lincoln's way. The updates are intriguing, yet many of them (aside from the V6's 380 pound-feet of torque) are rather subtle. So we grab the key fob to an attractive all-wheel-drive model decked out with the Reserve package and set out for a long weekend to absorb the new MKX. Several days of running errands around town, commuting, and a three-and-half-hour drive from metro Detroit to the northern tip of Michigan lay ahead of us. We're going to be spending a lot of time in the MKX, so naturally, we take stock of the interior. Our tester (we photographed a different one) is done up in a cappuccino leather theme, which means brown leather for the steering wheel, armrests, and the tops of the door panels. Another chocolately strip bisects the dashboard. The rest of the cabin – the headliner, the seats, the sides of the doors, etc. – is a creamy white. We sink into the seats, which are cushy yet supportive. The headrest is like a pillow, and the plush floormats feel made for bare feet. The touchscreen works well, and it's complemented by redundant buttons and switches, which we like. The MKX is generally user friendly. The touchscreen works well, with little poking or jabbing. It's complemented by redundant buttons and switches, which we like.
Why the 2015 Lincoln MKC is 'holding some powder'
Thu, 19 Jun 2014Earlier this month in our first drive of the 2015 MKC, we told you that Lincoln finally had a new vehicle in its arsenal worth crowing about. So with the compact premium crossover now finding its way into dealers, why aren't you seeing its likeness plastered on billboards and barraging you on television? It's because Lincoln is "holding some powder."
Those are the words of Lincoln's global director, Matt VanDyke, who tells Autoblog that the company is holstering some of its marketing guns because it's keen to avoid repeating the ill-timed efforts that blighted its last rollout, the MKZ. That vehicle's launch early last year was beset by various delays related to manufacturing and quality. The cadence issue was so dire that by the time the model reached showrooms in volume, Lincoln had already blown most of its budget on things like Super Bowl ads that ran weeks or even months before customers could check one out in person. It was a particularly trying series of events for parent Ford because the MKZ and its oversized marketing spend were charged with relaunching the Lincoln brand to the public.
Keen to avoid repeating the same timing issue and mindful of consumers' habits at this time of year, Lincoln is taking a different strategy with the MKC. According to VanDyke, "What we don't want to do is try and fight the summertime - people using television being down, and other mass media when school's out. New television shows aren't on." Of course, that doesn't mean Lincoln is sitting idle. VanDyke says, "By no means are we quiet during the next 90 days. This year, we're going to really spend the next 60 to 90 days using digital and social media, in-theater advertising and the like, and once we have full availability at dealerships, we'll really ramp up the advertising later on in the summer." Part of that early media effort includes immersive digital marketing like Lincoln's clever Dream Rides web experience.
Weekly Recap: New bosses try to jump-start Cadillac and Lincoln
Sat, 26 Jul 2014
Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
